Antonio Conte - Now Officially Manager

Featured Replies

I think the whole saga isn't good. Jose didn't say any names in particular but it looked like it was aimed at Conte or Klopp.

The media being the media stirred the pot at the very next press conference and Conte bit, and now they are letting them both embarrass themselves.

This can only help Liverpool or other teams battling for the top 4 spots in the premier league if this continues, as when Man Utd or Chelsea have a couple of bad results then the headlines will switch to "Jose/Antonio losing the plot etc.." or we risk having weeks of the media build up until we play Man Utd.

We can't afford to lose focus as we have a lot of important games in the next few weeks.

I've noticed the Premier League or LMA have been quiet on the subject, normally they would step in by now.

I just hope Steve Atkins or someone at Chelsea has a quiet word with Antonio this week and advises him to stay well out of it.

Jose overstepped the mark, and got very personal, he cant handle an angry Conte.

Conte bit at a comment which could have mentioned nearly any manager, Conte talking about senile dementia is bang out of order and both have looked very bad in this latest slagging match, Chelsea fans can't make Conte look good or put all the blame on Mourinho.

I was under the impression that the interpreter admitted Conte was meaning the word "amnesia" and not claiming Mourinho actually has senile dementia....from what Ive seen, seems accurate.  If Im not mistaken, Conte actually said "you have a word for when you forget things that happen earlier?" prior to saying to what, in his language, was senile dementia.

As mentioned, really much of this is a nothing-burger with a large side of media hype/creating issues where none actually exist in order to generate clickbait

The club quickly changed it to amnesia and Cudicini said Conte ment amnesia but that is still not a great thing to say and like any person at the club is going to admit Conte was talking about senile dementia, you would be thick to do that. Its not media hype, its two manager's being idiots and its getting over the top and boring.

Point anyway is its funny how biased some people are to say "Mourinho has brought Conte down to his level" etc, their both involved and its got pathetic really.

Actual comments

I think if you watch the actual video you see 1) is is the media intentionally creating issues, hence the reporter trying to get a rile out of Conte towards Wenger then immediately trying with Mourinho when that doesn't work 2) the amnesia bit isn't just some back tracking, you can clearly see he is describing amnesia and can't find the word.  Senile dementia is far more than forgetting the past, what Conte references, which happens to be just what amnesia is.  If that's what he meant,as I truly believe he did, I don't see that as inappropriate.  Personally, if I called the shots, anytime the media asked Conte about another manager/club/player I'd have a club spokes person interject and say to the effect Conte is only hear to answer questions about his club/players etc & if they have questions about other managers to attend their press conferenfes instead.

All of this is the product of certain media figures trying to create an issue or blow it out of proportion, for their own personal gain. I'd just remove Conte from the situations and let him focus on the important stuff.

Conte is in disadvantage here. He is not fluent in English. I think he should just stop. Jose wont. Conte was pretty accurate on Jose being a little man.

It doesnt really matter, people trying to blame everything onto Mourinho and make out Conte is a saint live in a dreamworld and are just biased. There both been embarrassing and as bad as each other.

I think if I was Conte going forward any questions about managers or none Chelsea players I would ignore give the media cold shoulder as Fergie did

You won't win in a war of words with Jose, it's his strength. He get's under oppositions manager skin then tries to belittle them in front of the media. It's best to ignore him like Pep did in Spain and it ended up with Jose making a fool of himself poking his assistant in the eye.

Beat him on the park and he will crumble, that's the best way.

Disagree. We all know Jose has become a complete and utter c**t. Conte has a lot more class than Mourinho will ever have. The difference is Mourinho started this and ALWAYS starts it. Conte would never come out and slag off another manager unless he is responding to provocation, which he is here and frankly I don't blame him. You can't let the likes of Mourinho walk all over you and hopefully he will find out that this time, he's picked on the wrong guy.

If Conte was out of order I would say so but I'm backing our man, not our ex.

Conte definitely says senile in the interview. He says it in Italian which is spelt the same and obviously pronounced differently. Sort of like "Si-near-le".  There is absolutely no disputing that.

Find it interesting that reporters have tried to bring up Mourinho in the past for a bit of controversy yet Conte's always stayed away.  This obviously triggered him.  Probably the busy schedule not helping mental/physical fatigue and you would get sick of this kind of stuff no matter how strong you were.

It doesn't matter if Mourinho has become a c**t or if he started it, your making excuses for Conte's behavour and trying to find any reason to justify it. It's all school playground stuff saying well he started it, Mourinho has history of this blah blah blah. BOTH are wrong and both look like prats. Mourinho mentioned no names and he could have been talking about any manager, Conte running around, Pep embarrassing himself with the Redmond situation, Wenger pushing refs and other managers, Klopp runs around like an idiot. The only manager to bite was Conte and Mourinho is reeling that line in, it takes a bigger man not to bite.

Asked whether or not he regrets anything he has said or the nature of the row, Conte said: “Do I have the look of a person who regrets? I don't think so. We both said these things and we'll see what happens in the future.”

Don Conte not backing down. Good lad.

I'm not making excuses for Conte's behaviour - I just don't have a problem with it. You say it takes a bigger man not to bite, but the other view is don't let people take the piss. He has a track record of it and you can't just let the bloke get away with it. He's had a numerous pops at Conte - from the hair transplant to having a go at him celebrating when we spanked them 4-0 and it goes on & on. Now the match-fixing. NO other manager would come out with such below the belt stuff and you expect Conte just to sit there and take it?

SKY will be rubbing their hands as it's making the OT game Box Office stuff and I now want us to win that game and humiliate Mourinho more than ever before.

Hows Mourinho saying he does not "behave as a clown on the touchline" taking the piss? Conte had no need to respond to that comment, no other manager did. This is were it all started.

You really don't have anything good to say about our club, do you?

Like you don't think anyone can put in a bad performance, a manager can pick the wrong team selection or tactics. I'm not so biased that i would say the team and manager are brilliant even if they finished bottom and got relegated. All i am saying is BOTH managers are wrong which i don't see anything wrong in that.

No rivalry, he's wrong, that's all.

I won't enter a battle of wits with an unarmed man!  (Points if you know who said that!)
