April 5, 201610 yr Sutton shouting the loudest to get a bit of the spotlight. Must want a job I hope he never comes back here, he was awful.
April 5, 201610 yr If some of the players can't take a passionate manager who demands everything from them then they should leave ASAP!
April 5, 201610 yr Sutton shouting the loudest to get a bit of the spotlight. Must want a job We won't fall for that twice.
April 5, 201610 yr Makes sense. Conte has shown in the past that he doesn't think age is as big a factor as the level of which a player is capable. The guy's a football man, he knows what's important a bit like Guus. The only people who didn't seem to understand that was the people running the club. The club didn't say JT wasn't getting a new deal. It was JT who said it, most likely because he was frustrated at being left in limbo. Can't see anything wrong with the club waiting to announce a new manager and asking his opinion before any decision is made. I know you don't like anything about the spokemen and front line runners of the club but not everything needs to blown out of proportion. I had a feeling this was gonna happen and knew JT was playing cat and mouse with the board about his future and the timing of it. But hey, he can drop a bombshell out of frustration and everyone overreacts and loses their mind.
April 5, 201610 yr Also I think Conte shares similar positive traits of Jose and not the negative ones. I can't imagine Conte carrying similar baggage Jose brought in press conferences for example but we shall see. Italians have never let us down.
April 5, 201610 yr Completely agree. I'd have preferred that over getting rid of Jose. Well we have a second chance now perhaps. Everything I've read about Conte makes me think this guy is another Jose in many ways. He's spiky with the media, he's obsessive, he isn't afraid to tear strips off players but can also inspire them and he's meticulous. He's also obsessed with diet which some of our players may find an issue. I wasn't happy with them sacking Jose but they deserve a pat on the back for going with someone who is ambitious, rather than some of the other names that were thrown around like Pellegrini. The guy started a revolution at Juventus and he needs to be allowed to do the same here.

April 5, 201610 yr Which formation do we think conte is going to use with us? the 352 seems like the lazy choice to guess at in my opinion and from what I have read of the guy he is tactically flexible and is more likely to look at what we already have, as long as he drops the 4231 I will be happy as we dont have the players to play it properly imo.
April 5, 201610 yr Looks like a 4-2-2-2 with Italy, vand apparently the only reason hevwent 3-5-2 with juve was the squad had centre backs but no full backs. It's not his preferred tactic as many believe. I suppose the good thing is he seems happy to fit the tactics around the team rather than shoe horn players into his chosen formation

His 352 was a compromise that suited the squad and the league. I'm sure we'll see 442 variations starting from pre-season.
April 5, 201610 yr I read this in the Gazzeta dells Sport today, and they published a video with a possible lineup given Chelsea signs the players he'd like. Curiously, he'd play Kenedy according to the newspaper. The Gazzetta dello Sport has some articles today about Conte and his arrival to Chelsea. They say he wants to keep Costa, if not possible to retain him, they suggest he wants Lukaku, as some of you have already mentioned. They have another article where they say Conte is already after Bonucci, Higuaín and Pogba, with also interest in Nainggolan and Rüdiger. They have a video with a possible lineup next year: http://video.gazzetta.it/da-pogba-higuain-cosi-potrebbe-giocare-chelsea-conte/a5967de8-fb0c-11e5-98a8-aaf6a6afd8b5 (I don't know how to embed the video in here)
April 5, 201610 yr It's all going very well so far... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35971018 Its football, if the Barca lot can get away with tax evasion, Gerrard and numerous others having drunken fights, I doubt he'll get done for this being rich and famous.
April 5, 201610 yr Antonio Conte wants John Terry to stay, despite announcement over new deal. #CFC (Mail) Good news.. I read in the Telegraph today that Costa is offski, (personally that would please me), and Conte wants to bring back Cuadrado to be a starter. Now I don't know anything about this match-fixing malarkey but if Conte brings back Twiggy Cuadrado surely he should face some sort of trial?

I'm sure we'll see 442 variations starting from pre-season. He does seem flexible in his tactics, which is obviously very good for us. Apparently he likes to go to 4-3-3 at times too, especially during games.
April 5, 201610 yr Its football, if the Barca lot can get away with tax evasion, Gerrard and numerous others having drunken fights, I doubt he'll get done for this being rich and famous. It said suspended sentence, that means he won't actually go to jail, right? I don't know Italian law and can't draw conclusions about the legal case. I do know that I'd be disappointed and upset if he were to discover match fixing efforts at Chelsea and didn't report them. Football is so corrupt, and although one action wouldn't clean things up, it would hopefully give pause to anyone who wants to pull that sh*t with our club. I'm optimistic that he's learned how lesson and would report it if it happens again.
April 5, 201610 yr Antonio Conte wants John Terry to stay, despite announcement over new deal. #CFC (Mail) Good news.. That's bad news, carrying a player as slow as JT limits us hugely offensively. we simply can't play a high line with JT in the team.
April 5, 201610 yr That's bad news, carrying a player as slow as JT limits us hugely offensively. we simply can't play a high line with JT in the team. How many defenders will Conte use in his starting formation next season?
April 5, 201610 yr That's bad news, carrying a player as slow as JT limits us hugely offensively. we simply can't play a high line with JT in the team. Limiting offensively? Terry is the best passer in the team bar Fabregas. If Conte wants width, only Terry is able to play out the back appropriately.
April 5, 201610 yr How many defenders will Conte use in his starting formation next season? I would hope that he would go either with 4-2-4 or 4-3-3.

April 5, 201610 yr I would hope that he would go either with 4-2-4 or 4-3-3. That's cool. I love hearing people's opinions on this but that's not really what I asked. You said that JT limits us because we can't play a high line. I thought since you knew what type of defence Conte would use next year, you'd know how many would be in it. Oh well.
April 5, 201610 yr Limiting offensively? Terry is the best passer in the team bar Fabregas. If Conte wants width, only Terry is able to play out the back appropriately. It is very hard to play a high pressing game with a slow defence. In the first half of last season, Jose tried to play attacking football, our slow defence couldn't handle it, so we we conceding lots of goals. To make up for our defence weakness Jose was forced play very defence turgid football. To get the best out of JT, we need to sit deep, while most top teams are able to play a higher line than we do. I found a good quote from a Chelsea supporter called Gol123 on Red Cafe Terry was/is a big part of why we are so tactically deficient. He is slow and old when we want to play a high pressing offensive game. Its not possible to do that with him in the team and leaves us very exposed at the back when we do go more attacking in games (As seen in the first half of last season when we were shipping goals all the time). So yes, I would rather watch great football from Chelsea with no Terry then some of the turgid sh*t we put up with him in the side (Case in hand the pathetic title run in performances). Also, this where Mourinho gets you. He makes fans believe that they should make sacrifices for what he wants. I was fine with him not winning the league last season and continuing to naturally develop the squad. He was the one who made it all about winning the league in season two with his talk in the first season, he was the one that was desperate for the title and sacrificed long term planning for it. He also made you think that not playing youth was the only way to win the league. Lots of teams have won the league whilst playing youth players, Ferguson, Wenger and even Pep (Who I know Chelsea fans love to put down any chance they get). So why is it that Mourinho couldn't win the league whilst playing the youth players?
