July 23, 20205 yr Wouldve fallen to pieces being pressed last night. Sell asap. His value drops every window.
July 23, 20205 yr We've got dumb and dumber as centrebacks, a dwarf in goal, Marcos Alonso and Emerson as our left backs, and people want to bring Bakayoko back? Is there a conspriracy to make Chelsea fans commit suicide on this forum by any chance?

Drinkwater was a perfectly decent Premiership level player, but then he joined us and sat back and watched his career go down the tiolet. I'd love to know how and why it all fell away so quickly for him.

My educated prediction is that Leicester's title win made him believe he arrived at the top level and that was only further confirmed in his mind when we signed him. When he was frozen out with us i think he just couldn't be arsed with the grind of mid table football anymore after getting that taste of the high life. Edited July 24, 20205 yr by Argo

Was going to ask for my 10 minutes back having to go back 3 pages to find out why the baka thread was poppin but it ended up being a good laugh haha Bring back Baka and Zappa!

Some sportsmen/women just lose their ambition and drive once they've achieved something special. In this day and age they only have to slack off a bit to fall very quickly. Even the amazing Ronaldinhio's career fell away quickly once he lost that bit of drive. Edited July 25, 20205 yr by Dixon
July 25, 20205 yr I think Baka could do well in a midtable team where is not under too much pressure,

The moment he stopped performing well, the road back would steep and he lost to alcoholism in the end.
July 26, 20205 yr There must be a good player somewhere in Bakayoko, after all he was pretty good for Monaco. But I get the feeling that he’d only do well in a certain system, maybe as a deep defensive midfielder and obviously it’s not worth changing the whole system just to fit Bakayoko in. I’d say we should keep loaning him out until he rediscovers his Monaco form and then sell him.

Will be interesting to see what we do.

It's not that hard when you have Mbappe as striker, Lemar at the left wing, Silva at the right, Fabinho sweeping up for you and Moutinho to guide you. You just need a certain level of physique and the pace to play at top level.

I remember watching him that season when people were saying he was having a good season, and I just couldn't see anything about him that was good. His performance in the Champions League against Juventus that year was a sign of what was to come. He was well out of his depth.
August 1, 20205 yr Can’t believe some people are even contemplating Baka being given another try. He is probably the worst player I have ever seen put on a Chelsea shirt. And if not the worst player, then certainly he wins the award for the worst ever individual performance in a game (Watford). I said at the time, he looks like a confused goat when playing, and seemed to have no idea of wtf was going on, why he was there or what he was meant to be doing.

You're probably being a bit unkind to confused goats ... 🙂

August 11, 20205 yr Nobody is buying Bakayoko, best thing we can do is get him out on a loan until his contract is up, same with Drinkwater.

Good call, or make Baka sign a new deal before we accept such an offer

I wonder how close in that case, with loan fees and other teams paying his wages, we would come to getting our money back on him. Bet it would be close.

Bet it would be close. I think best we could hope for is about half. Figure €3M in loan fees across 3 years, then get €10-15M on a sale. I dont think a sale for him is out of the question. He was really good for AC Milan and has evidently said he'd take a pay cut to sign a new contract. I'll actually be a little surprised if we can't get a few for him.
