What a useless signing. Moronic that we would drop 60mil on a position we could easily fill with someone cheaper instead of spending on someone who can unlock defenses or score goals.

Why are you assuming that we won't do that as well ? It's not like Sandro will be our only signing in this window, there will be more to come. This is a brilliant signing if true, this could be LB sorted for 7 or 8 years. I like Alonso, he's had an excellent season, but he's not world class and we should always be looking to add serious competition to the squad. It's not just about the first 11, this add's serious depth to the squad. To compete with the best, you need the best, and we may have just signed one of the best full backs in the game.

Apparently some people are privy to Chelsea's finances this season. We only have 60m to spend this summer mind you

Agreed. Also I couldn't give a stuff how much we spend in the transfer window as long as we get the best players. I am not an accountant, I am a football fan.

For all the critisism the board has gotten over the last few years for beeing tight, not backing the manager and taking for ever with their targets we are noe rumoured to sign a young, world class player before July and people are still f**king complaining. Lmao

Agreed, even as a casual poster on this forum, I can see that a large amount of posters have been clamoring for a signing like this.  Now that it's here, it seems like most are against it.

Sounds like the deal is off. Sources in the Italian media are saying that juve cannot sign a replacement they are happy with so have told us he is irreplaceable. There is an article about this on WAGNH.

Not saying I don't believe you but that surprises me that they are willing to risk keeping a player that doesn't want to be in Turin. Especially after saying they won't stand in the way of a player who wants to leave.

Same article you're referring to ends saying we are most likely going to sign him st this report contrary to everything else we heard plus logically bit early to say can't find replacement it's June

Why is it ok to spend £60 million on a CB but not a WB ? Every position is important in football, the wing back role is a vital part of our formation.

because it is a specialist position. a cb can play in any of the 3 centre back positions, a midfielder can play in either of the 2 midfield positions or 3 if we play a 352, a wingback can only play one position. Unless he is sooooo great he replaces hazard at LF

A wing back isn't really playing one position. He will be a defender and an attacker, that is what a wing back is. It's basically two position's in one.

Must be some kinda record, no one complaining that we should use Baba Rahman or Jay daSilva instead.....

I don't think they would give up on finding a suitable replacement this early in the summer, I have a feeling this one is happening.
