I think we had Barkley as a back up if we didn't get drinkwater.

i think we have now signed him we've f**ked Barkley off and the agent is making out he changed his mind to save face.

watch this space

But i don't think we have actually officially signed anybody yet

Just imagine how f****d up Everton will be feeling about this U turn..

They were in for a bargan to get 35 m for an injured player and out of contract next summer...

Now they have to pay his wages through his injury and let him walkaway free next year..

What a pr*ck. Why waste everyone's time in the first place? We could have negotiated with other clubs. Ffs the board needs to learn from this and not faff around once and for all

you would also expect the club would have a plan b bearing in mind his injury issues.

This BBC report tells things differently to the rumours Sky and others have been spreading:

He didn't even travel to London, there was no medical. Apparently.

So much misinformation being peddled. Just tabloid bollocks.

Apart from the fact that Barkley would not have strengthened the squad due to his long-term injury, I really do not see how he would fit into our current side. I just don't think he's got the attributes to make it with us. He hasn't really made it with Everton- just like the Is never really made it at Arsenal.

Still hope he signs with Chelsea in January or next summer.  He's one of the very few English players that I like due to his technical ability albeit he is rather undisciplined on the pitch.

Disgrace of a professional. What the f*** has happened today
I feel sorry for Cobham cleaning crew Ross Barkley absolutely shat his pants all over the place, the prospect of playing with the big boys must have moved his bowls. Strange strange career decision. It will haunt him for the rest of his days.

Plus side for Chelsea is that money is saved for better options.

What a waste of time this boy is.

Everton owner (I think) confirmed via Telephone call on sky that Ross Farcely changed his mind mid medical.

Well, all we know is that that's not a coincidence. For less than a week, we alienated 3 average players like OXC, Llorente and Barkley. I will blame none of them, there is something wrong with US.  Are you not tired of blaming every player  rejected us? That's the third time this week and, I don't know, maybe the 10th overall that we've been rejected by any player this summer. And in every thread - he doesn't have balls, he is scrub, he wants to play on different position. Please, just stop it.

f**k him. 35m would be madness when he's injured and out of contract soon.

And then he rejects the champions mid medical? Did Danny Drinkwater scare him?

sh*t mentality.

Everton will be more pissed off than anybody else. Their Mantra was 'sign a deal or we are selling you', well he didn't, and they couldn't! He'll have 6 months left in a January and will be free to set up a move for when he is out of contract.

They needed the cash to balance the books. Maybe a little transfer karma biting them after the Stones episode.

good. Lol

We didn't reach an agreement with Swansea so didnt even get as far as talking to Llorente. BBC reported he preferred us to Spurs but never got the option.

It's quite apparent that Barkley was hoping that Tottenham would come to the party and when they didn't he hit the brakes hard...the only saving grace in this is that Eversh*te will have to continue to pay his wages while he's injured and then have to accept less than £10m in fees in the January window...on another note, I'm not a fan of Drinkwater but I guess he's here now so I'm prepared to be won over...just wish Tierney from Celtic had been looked at...rate that kid

He's clearly going to sign for Spurs in January and that's what he wanted all along.

What's the attraction to him of joining Spurs? I can only imagine he feels it'd be easier to break into their starting 11 than with us, and also gets to play with Dele, Kane, Dier etc. as well? Can't imagine Poch works his players as hard as Conte either. Either way it's all very weird and we definitely look like he's mugged us off, even if that's not necessarily true. Hope we get the full story at some point...
