July 17, 20179 yr Curious to see everyone's favourite games where we either didn't win a cup or a title. For me, it'd be: Manchester United (home) 1999-00: Destroying United 5-0 at home. Watched the highlights show as a six-year-old. The first league game I can really remember. Stoke City (home) 2008-09: Belletti and Lampard score late to keep Scolari in a job (at least for a couple more weeks). I remember going absolutely crazy while watching this, screaming without actually making any noise because Mum and Dad were sleeping in the next room. Arsenal (away) 2009-10: Drogba and Ashley Cole tear the Gooners a new one. A double for Drog and an own goal from Vermaelen. This was the game that proved to me once and for all that we got the better deal out of the Cole-Gallas swap. Everton (home) 2015-16: Honestly, the best I think I can remember us playing. Any of the seven-goal wins from 2009-10 or any time where we made a game look like a training run and could not stop scoring.

July 17, 20179 yr I can't pick any of those CL games because I was wreck the entire game and can only enjoy them after the fact. So, beating united at the bridge in the league last season. Cathartic and spat in the face of expectations. And putting 6 past arsenal on wengers 1000th(?) game because I hate Arsenal the most. Both games I enjoyed from start to finish.

I agree that I can't ever remember a better, more complete performance. Two of my favourites would be the two 4-2 victories over Liverpool in the FAC, in 1978 and 1997. The 2-0 win in 1982 would also be up there. And the 5-0 promotion party win over Leeds in 1984 was just fantastic. In recent years, I reckon our victories up at the Etihad (the Ivanovic 1-0 and last season's 3-1) were pretty epic. EDIT: The 4-2 Barca game, the 2-2 SF Barca game, and the 2-1 Wayne Bridge game are, obviously, games I will always cherish, too. Edited July 17, 20179 yr by Backbiter

These two are my choices too. Outside of winning cups, they were brilliant. The atmosphere at the stadium, the intensity, the quality of football and the joy at the end of both games was amazing.

Wish I could say I saw those games in the 70s and 80s but bit before my time.
July 17, 20179 yr Author Having been reminded, gonna add: 3-1 City (away) 16-17 - just got one hyphenated word to describe this game: sucker-punch 6-0 Arsenal (home) 13-14 Also, can't forget: 2-0 PSG (home) 13-14 - don't think I've seen a group of players so delighted to win a game when the whistle sounded. They played and celebrated with so much passion. Edited July 17, 20179 yr by BellettiBullet
July 17, 20179 yr League: Tottenham 1 Chelsea 6 - 1997 - Battering Spurs at White Hart Lane, you have to love it. Blackburn 0 Chelsea 1 - 2005 - They Tried to kick us off the pitch, we dug in and secured a huge victory. Europe: Galatasaray 0 Chelsea 5 - 1999 - ‘Welcome to hell’, what a load of crap. Lazio 0 Chelsea 4 - 2003 - I can remember watching this, very impressive victory. Arsenal 1 Chelsea 2 - 2004 - Needs no description. Edited July 17, 20179 yr by Floyd25
July 17, 20179 yr Beating Liverpool 4-2 in the fa cup 1977/78 season ground was rocking, that Liverpool side was probably the strongest team they ever had in that era.
July 18, 20179 yr Cup Winners Cup semi final at home against Vicenza. 1-0 down from the first leg. They got another goal early in the game, suddenly we were faced with the mammoth task of scoring three goals with an hour to play to reach the final. Guus Poyet scrambled one in. Early in the second half Zola scored a rare header to make it 2-2. Then Mark Hughes came on and scored an awesome goal, De Goey punted it long, Hughes flicked on a header, ran onto it himself and then smashed the ball home. De Goey then made two huge saves late on, the crowd cheered them like they were goals scored. Best atmosphere for a game I've ever been to, the disappointment turning into hope, turning into excitement for a European final was great stuff.
July 18, 20179 yr Beating Liverpool 4-2 in the cup at SB in 97. 2-0 down at HT and getting our arses ripped apart, Hughesy on as a sub and the game changed instantly. That curling effort from Zola...superb.
July 18, 20179 yr Battering West ham after going down to 10 men (maniche red I think). They were 1 up when it happened and thought they were definitely gonna win. We then smashed them all over the pitch and sent them home to their caravans in tears.
July 18, 20179 yr Everton 2 - 3 Chelsea was one of the best games I have watched. Worldie goals from Lampard, Ballack and Drogba! Edited July 18, 20179 yr by dansubrosa
July 18, 20179 yr Being at the 5-0 game against UTD. Living in the south as a Chelsea supporter has had some tough times specially with the abuse you receive of other kids who all support Utd but never been to OT. What a day and even Sutton got on the scoresheet.
July 18, 20179 yr United at home last season, i have not enjoyed a game like that for a very, very long time.
July 18, 20179 yr Beating Liverpool in the CL 08/09 season. The 2nd leg might have been a draw but that was one of the most exciting draws I've ever seen.
July 18, 20179 yr That's one of my favourite too, Deino. The juxtaposition of emotions felt as that game went on was mad. For me, watching as a kid in 1997, I remember we thrashed Barnsley 6-0 away with Vialli scoring 4! Zola was immense that day.

July 18, 20179 yr Some good ones have already been mentioned, but I'll add the final match of the season in 2002/2003 against Liverpool into the mix. I watched it in a pub filled with Liverpool fans all in their red shirts. I was the only Chelsea fan there and although there was a handful of neutrals there, I got the impression that they would've preferred a Liverpool win.
