September 30, 20205 yr I said at the end of last season that I didn't know where Barkley was going to fit and expected him to be the one let go, so this move doesn't shock me that much. I'm really concerned about our midfield though. We have a ton of them, and they are all really good footballers, but for some reason, we can't seem to get any of them to fit. Jorginho and Kovacic is the only one that worked for a decent period of time last season, and Gilmour and Barkley worked for a few games, but even with their strengths, they seem to come with major weaknesses, especially when it comes to off the ball stuff and protecting the defence.
September 30, 20205 yr Not that surprised to see him go, has a goal in him which is always a plus but for every piece of skill He showed us, he was equally frustrating at times. correction to below he was with us for 3 1/2 seasons for a cut price 15 mill fee with the hope we’d have found ourselves a bargain new number eight. His best goal imo v Vermin in FA Cup last season. “Ross Barkley plays the position Midfield, is 26 years old and 189cm tall, weights 86kg In the current club Chelsea played 4 seasons, during this time he played 122 matches and scored 11 goals”.
September 30, 20205 yr I'm a bit torn on this one. He improved so much at the end of last season I'd have been happy to have him as part of the squad. In a straight swap between he and RLC right now I think it made more sense for Ross to stay and RLC to go on loan. Perhaps they will both leave.
October 1, 20205 yr RLC should've gone on loan first before Ross. Ross is still useful against Crystal Palace
October 1, 20205 yr Really annoyed about this. I have always been a fan of him. He is one of those players that when we look thin, he steps in and does a good job. Whether in CM/AM, he can put in a good shift. I actually think he could have gone to a better team, but brilliant capture for Villa. Really surprised by this. Probably our only CM who offers a goalscoring threat too which frustrates me even more. Furthermore, with all the games we have this season, I wish we kept him on board this season. RLC defo should of gone out on loan, he may still do but think Lamps has made a mistake on this one.
October 1, 20205 yr To be honest, the more I'm thinking about it, it's probably Barkley asking for this, not the club. It's possible he has asked for more game time, Frank gave him an honest answer, and he asked for a loan move to play more games.
October 3, 20205 yr Of the two, I’d have loaned out RLC. Barkley offers much more and actually has some bite in the tackle. I was Ruben’s biggest fan and the potential was there to go places, just not the motivation and dedication required

I was Ruben’s biggest fan and the potential was there to go places, just not the motivation and dedication required why do you question the motivation and dedication of RLC? Lamps is on record saying it was his motivation and dedication to work and try to be fit despite a horrendous injury and numerous set backs.. Being injured is the worst thing for a professional footballer.. someone on the forum was saying it takes almost 2 years for players to recover from this injury which is a long and difficult time.
October 3, 20205 yr What I suspect is Frank is trying to bring another body in, FFP is a concern and Villa were willing to pay a good loan fee for Barkley and he was attracted by the promise of regular football.
October 4, 20205 yr Hope they put in a clause that we can have him back whenever we play Liverpool. He's just run roughshod over the Dippers for 45 minutes!
October 4, 20205 yr Unreal watching on a stream at half time, Agbonlahor 'Barkley driving at them' and Friedel, 'Barkley was excellent'.

October 4, 20205 yr Il reckon Villa will buy him permanently. There owner seems to be pretty wealthy and has been spending a fair bit.
October 4, 20205 yr Further proof if any was needed that Lampard was insane to get rid of Barkley for the season. But yeh, Rice.
October 4, 20205 yr Some of the worst Sky commentary I've heard, imagine being a Villa fan and having to listen to that.
October 4, 20205 yr He’s so direct and always has a goal in him. I was quite disappointed he left on loan but I hope he does well.
