September 11, 20214 yr Oh dear, hardly a ringing endorsement from Tuchel. Source: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/sep/10/thomas-tuchel-tells-ross-barkley-to-stay-humble-despite-chelsea-situation “He is also asking himself the same questions and maybe all of us here, to be honest, don’t have the answers. I’m sure that he worries a lot about the situation: ‘How can it come so far that right now I’m in between the chairs and don’t really know where I belong?’ “I don’t have these answers because I don’t know him long enough. All the advice I can give to Ross right now and what I did say was: ‘Stay humble, get it off your shoulders, all the opinions, all the expectations from everybody, all the past, what could have been, if I did this, if I did that.’ “It does not help in the moment. We have a certain adaptation to intensity and to the impact of the group on him. He is part of the training group. He does not have to love the situation but he needs to accept it in a positive way. “He accepts that it was not an over-performance from him at Aston Villa so he cannot demand that we rely on him. It’s hard to see people struggling. But he tried to go on loan again, to find a club, but it is not easy. The situation out there, the financial impact from corona to clubs abroad and clubs also within the country is huge.”

Better than being out on your ear, I suppose. "Not an over-performance from him at Aston Villa". Kind way of saying he was sh!te.
September 30, 20214 yr I was almost embaressed to see him bought on last night. I mean, are we really that desperate?

September 30, 20214 yr He's actually got the right attributes to be exactly what we need ... a physical midfielder with decent technique who has an eye for a pass and a few goals, and we could say the same about RLC. If TT can get both of their heads straight, and find a way to integrate one or both into the starting XI, then I can only think that will improve our attacking phase as a team. On paper, Chalobah as the DM (191cm) with Barkey (189cm) and RLC (191cm) ahead of him, would potentially be a very physical midfield that would enable us to bully a few teams. We've needed that for a while now ... midfield has been lightweight for a few seasons ...

Strange one alright , especially with Werner left on the bench. I wonder was Tuchel trying to emphasise a point that he’s been left with too much dead wood.

I honestly think Tuchel had no idea what to do last night and so he turned to Barkley in the hopes that he might fluke a shot from range.

Hopefully not as that was the sort of thing Conte was doing towards the end of his time with us trying to get sacked. 1 hour ago, ForeverCarefree said: No chance. Hopefully not true either as in TT we believe we have a top manager and if he had no idea what to do that is not a sign of a top manager. 5 hours ago, ForeverCarefree said: I was almost embaressed to see him bought on last night. TT had ruled him out and had to keep him. League cup us one thing but last night was baffling.

I think it was more of a message to the players that if they're not performing they're not safe from being dropped. Can't see Tuchel trying to get sacked after 2 poor performances

The fact that he was given a chance over Saul last night certainly doesn't bode well for Saul's chances at Chelsea. With Werner I think it was a little different as he wouldn't have been a logical choice in that position. That being said Werner seems to have falling down the list in recent weeks.

Yeah it certainly makes Saul seem like his Drinkwater, a desperation late signing.
October 2, 20214 yr Madness. First touch was a sh*te pass, 2nd touch was a worldie pass Good for Ross. Fighting hard
October 2, 20214 yr Always made sense to give him a number when we couldn't find him a loan. As infuriating as he can be he does have a purple patch or two a season, if a said patch can come now with Havertz and Mount out of sorts that will be extremely handy.
October 2, 20214 yr Ross being subbed on the last 2 games is more a message to others (Ziyech and Kai), than any genuine endorsement of his own game. But he has looked useful in both games, and certainly offered more than either Ziyech or Kai has in recent times. Needs to seize the chance.
October 2, 20214 yr If he can put in a few good sub appearances, maybe someone will take a chance on him in Jan. Though I suspect it would still be a loan and we don't be able to sell him.
