February 20, 20188 yr You don't pass across your own box incase it's intercepted. Can't really legislate for it being misdirected. The problem isn't that he took the pass on, fabregas was open.. Problem is it was a bent pass. He will learn, he's brilliant and hopefully it's water of a duck's back.

Surely people on here know Christensen isn't the best passer of the ball? A mistake from him was inevitable eventually, but he makes up for it with his defending, nothing got through while he was there. Also Alonso & Moses deserve more credit, sure Moses was sloppy sometimes but that's because he was involved in the attack, what's impressive is how he was also involved with the defense a lot, really did his job. Alonso again very good on that flank, never gave the ball away, good defensive performance and contributed to the attack. Yup, you're right. Christensen was very good on the whole, and I thought Moses in particular acquitted himself well.

I was defending Christensen and saying as there is no target man then there is no outlet, it can be a difficult situation to be in as the ball just keeps coming back. Obviously the ball shouldn't be played across the box but if there is an outlet the defence will feel more confident going long. The false number worked defensively yes and that was the plan, i think Conte only played it because he doesn't trust Hazard on the wing.
February 20, 20188 yr I don't see the issue with what Christensen did, our gameplan was to play it out from the back, it's effective. He just wasn't good enough to do it, David Luiz would have been much better on the ball, but with David Luiz we wouldn't have been anywhere near as solid. It's as simple as that really, I don't think it's bad decision making on Christensen's part, it's just a very bad pass.

This place would have blown up if Bakayoko had played that pass ! Difference is Christensen has done so much right and Baka nearly everything wrong

If Messi had then played a ball across the goal to Spunkez or whoever was threatening the 6-yard line, Tibo would have looked like bigger dick than you. Choices get made. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't I'm glad we're disagreeing again yorkley!!! I was getting worried there!!!
February 20, 20188 yr Really happy with the application, Stamford Bridge is a cauldron on these nights and I've really missed them. I fear how we are going to keep this intensity up over the course of the next few games, Manchester lot and then away to Barcelona. Something is going to have to give way.. 7 points from city United Palace and a 2-2 in Spain please!

But today the players really played for the club and the manager, I'm a happy man, that Messi goal can't get me down. Ohh for sure....it Hurts at the back of your mind but damn it we were good. We showed the World we still have a big dicck and to never throw us to the Wind Again. Im proud of Conte.....the players and the supporters tonight. Barca were worried with our play and atmospher.

February 20, 20188 yr It's madness. All across this forum before the game people were being negative saying they're not confident or don't think we'll get anything from the game, but we draw the game from a mistake of ours and could have scored more ourselves and yet people are moaning about the result. You couldn't make it up lol. Bit harsh. Barca have been in great form in the league, we certainly haven't. We used a formation that has let us down quite a few times, mostly because or best attacking player is ineffective as a false 9. This thread is there to discuss the game, I think the doubt people expressed on here is justifiable.People then being down because of the result is also very understandable because of the way the game panned out. We had 2 brilliant strikes from willian who played a great game. But let's not kid ourselves, we had very little in attack other than that, but we contained them well.Point is, expectations beforehand can be low, but people can still be angry at the final result if the game pans out differently than they initially thought.
February 20, 20188 yr Sorry but I can't defend Christiansen with used phrase "he'll learn from his mistakes", he's young. He did the same mistake in the first half but obviously hasn't learnt from it. If that was Gazz or Sideshow Bob they would have been crusified. We had a near perfect gameplan, Uefalona was on their f**king knees and then, well it all went down the toillet. f**k I'm gutted.

February 20, 20188 yr I’m feeling slightly disappointed with the draw, which is a testament to how well we played tonight.
February 20, 20188 yr 1 minute ago, Davey Baby said: I'm glad we're disagreeing again yorkley!!! I was getting worried there!!! I think Tibo was f**ked way before the shot. If we hadn't forced De Bruyne into gross slavery in some hunnish hell-hole, and had kept him on the books as chief cook and bottle-washer, he would obviously had run back in blatant and clear to all super-hero mode and tackled Messi before he was born, thereby saving both the tie and humanity from disaster, and taken the ball up the pitch, in front of an adoring and adulating MHL, and scored fifteen goals, on his own, without benefit of legally sanctioned restart. And I don't want to re-ignite the KdB debate with simpletons who use fictional Hollywood blockbusters as their baseline of reality :) I really can't connect with the internet generation.
February 20, 20188 yr 36 minutes ago, Osgood is Good said: Anyone who has played the game at a decent level knows that you do not play a pass across the box under any circumstances, but especially when you are being closed down in numbers. Not being hard on Andreas but he will learn from it hopefully. Unfortunately doesn't matter what spin is put on it, a pass across the box is a schoolboy mistake. If thats the case then any and all of Pep's team make that school boy mistake 10-15 times a game. The game has changed, passing from the back is the new mantra and the square ball to a free man is probably the easiest option available. Cesc infacts moves into that free space to receive the ball, again down to tactics. Infact as another poster pointed out, pedro played a similar pass early in the game. But this was not an inch perfect pass, Cesc decides he wont move that extra feet to pass the ball back to Tibo and azpi dives in. Cumulation of mistakes. Blaming Andreas is very simple but the fact remains that we are not doing the "no nonsense defender" thing on purpose (tactically and managerial decision) rather than due to an individual's choice.
February 20, 20188 yr Would have taken 1-1 before the game but disappointed with their goal. Fair play to Conte set us up well, thought we'd struggle with the formation a well. Looking forward to the second leg now, we're in this!
