You don't pass across your own box incase it's intercepted. Can't really legislate for it being misdirected. The problem isn't that he took the pass on, fabregas was open.. Problem is it was a bent pass. He will learn, he's brilliant and hopefully it's water of a duck's back.

Also Alonso & Moses deserve more credit, sure Moses was sloppy sometimes but that's because he was involved in the attack, what's impressive is how he was also involved with the defense a lot, really did his job. Alonso again very good on that flank, never gave the ball away, good defensive performance and contributed to the attack. 

 

Yup, you're right. Christensen was very good on the whole, and I thought Moses in particular acquitted himself well.

I don't see the issue with what Christensen did, our gameplan was to play it out from the back, it's effective.

He just wasn't good enough to do it, David Luiz would have been much better on the ball, but with David Luiz we wouldn't have been anywhere near as solid. It's as simple as that really, I don't think it's bad decision making on Christensen's part, it's just a very bad pass.

Really happy with the application, Stamford Bridge is a cauldron on these nights and I've really missed them. I fear how we are going to keep this intensity up over the course of the next few games, Manchester lot and then away to Barcelona. It's madness. All across this forum before the game people were being negative saying they're not confident or don't think we'll get anything from the game, but we draw the game from a mistake of ours and could have scored more ourselves and yet people are moaning about the result. You couldn't make it up lol. 

Bit harsh. Barca have been in great form in the league, we certainly haven't. We used a formation that has let us down quite a few times, mostly because or best attacking player is ineffective as a false 9. This thread is there to discuss the game, I think the doubt people expressed on here is justifiable.

People then being down because of the result is also very understandable because of the way the game panned out. We had 2 brilliant strikes from willian who played a great game. But let's not kid ourselves, we had very little in attack other than that, but we contained them well.

Point is, expectations beforehand can be low, but people can still be angry at the final result if the game pans out differently than they initially thought.

We did it with ten men in the 2012 to better Barcelona team. #CFCBelieve

Sorry but I can't defend Christiansen with used phrase "he'll learn from his mistakes", he's young. He did the same mistake in the first half but obviously hasn't learnt from it. If that was Gazz or Sideshow Bob they would have been crusified. We had a near perfect gameplan, Uefalona was on their f**king knees and then, well it all went down the toillet. f**k I'm gutted.

Too bad we did not draw Betsikas, they were thrashed today by Bayern.

I think Tibo was f**ked way before the shot.  If we hadn't forced De Bruyne into gross slavery in some hunnish hell-hole, and had kept him on the books as chief cook and bottle-washer, he would obviously had run back in blatant and clear to all super-hero mode and tackled Messi before he was born, thereby saving both the tie and humanity from disaster, and taken the ball up the pitch, in front of an adoring and adulating MHL, and scored fifteen goals, on his own, without benefit of legally sanctioned restart.

If thats the case then any and all of Pep's team make that school boy mistake 10-15 times a game. The game has changed, passing from the back is the new mantra and the square ball to a free man is probably the easiest option available. But this was not an inch perfect pass, Cesc decides he wont move that extra feet to pass the ball back to Tibo and azpi dives in. Cumulation of mistakes. Blaming Andreas is very simple but the fact remains that we are not doing the "no nonsense defender" thing on purpose (tactically and managerial decision) rather than due to an individual's choice.

Would have taken 1-1 before the game but disappointed with their goal. Fair play to Conte set us up well, thought we'd struggle with the formation a well. 

Looking forward to the second leg now, we're in this!
