But we all knew how they were going to setup with a back 5, there was no reason to go 3-5-2. The team selection was wrong, the formation was all wrong. 

Was such a boring game as well. Get the ball out wide, pass it into the middle, pass it to the other side, pass it into the middle, pass it to the other side, never doing anything. The goal came from finally playing the ball quickly and getting in a quick, fast cross. This team just doesn't have the slightest clue how to break teams down that sit behind the ball.

The irony in our CL hopes being finally dashed by a team playing the ultra defensive crap that Conte made us play against the likes of City, isn't lost on me either.

Give Jody Morris the job, at least then we can watch the youth players come through and if we’re sh*te I’d be able to stomach it. Instead of watching guys on 200k a week trot around and not beat the first man from corners. 

After winning 4 games in a row, resting our key players for this game... I can't explain the reason behind this decision, seriously.

I'm so disappointed, I had that hope that we actually can make it and go to the CL spot, but with today's performance, I've got that, we don't deserve to be there.

With players like Fabregas, Morata, Pedro, Zappacosta we aren't there. 

Congratulations to Huddersfield, they deserved it, maybe with dirty football but they made it, they achieved what they wanted.

Just when the team finds a formation and form, Conte chooses the wrong game to rotate.

Criminally irresponsible team selection tonight. Sums up his really poor judgement at times this season. 

Will not be sorry to see the back of him.

I'm sorry but i cannot agree with this. No manager who has genuine integrity would make six changes to a winning team for the biggest remaning game of the season. Regardless of any previous achievements there is nothing that gives the manager the right to sabotage the club just becuase he didn't get the budget or players that he wanted. It is inexcusable behaviour and his constant soundbites to the press undermining the club and players is totally unacceptable.

Sorry but I think he deserves it.

He’a complainer about transfers even though we spent plenty of money in the summer. He’s constantly caused his own problems with dodgy team selections, inability to see that some players need a rest, dropping Giroud for games even when he’s been our best player in the previous match and his inability to see when a team isn’t working in a game making the latest subs known to man. I think he has to go and deserves what’s been thrown at him. He’s shown us fans no respect this season either.

WTF was he even resting players for? For a game against a Newcastle who have nothing to play for?

Get goals from a top strength side then take players off if we're in a good position.

 

This season 

 we have the lowest goals scored at home since the Roman era began, and we have the worst home record out of the top 6.

 

 

the only excuse for Conte tonight is that he reckoned Sunday away to Newcastle was the tougher fixture and we'd cruise past Huddersfield with that starting line-up

He won it on an squad that had been assembled by previous management. He got rid of the best striker in the team, alienated David Luiz, now probably hazard and courtois will be f**king off to Madrid. He couldn’t raid Juvé for ONE player! He didn’t rotate the team once during mid season when clearly it wasn’t working out, choses of all nights tonight to do that, benches the two best players for the must win game. I seriously hope he gets sacked and never win another trophy his life for sabotaging this team to entertain his power struggle with the board. Childish guy no professional ethics at all!

Crazy decision to rest our best attacking players on a must win game. That decision alone should see Conte out the door.

Sad truth, dreadful transfer window, signing dross like Zappa etc..we were always going to struggle and we’ve got what we deserve. Positive spin is, we still have a cup final to play and hopefully not f**k up, though I have my doubts. The world isn’t ending though, with a solid transfer window, we might be okay next season, with possibly a new manager. I was backing Conte up until a while ago, but lost my patience with him, I think he’s been let down by the board to a certain extent, but his team selections, tactics, and substitutions have left a lot to be desired at times and today summed it all up.

So in essence, he sacrificed the semi final to play in the final full strength?

Anyone complain about Huddersfield time wasting is being unfair. They did everything in their power to stay up and they succeeded. What should be shocking is this:

- We could not beat a Huddersfield team.

- We could not defend properly against a Huddersfield team.

- We could not score the first goal against a Huddersfield team.

- We had both our forwards playing and they both could do f**k all despite us dominating the possession.

I am disgusted at Conte as mush as any of you but the team that played in the end with Cesc+Moratta+Giroud+Hazard+Willian+Alonso is our strongest attack and if that team cannot score, then we are in serious need of getting better offensive players cos i dont see anyone in the squad who can turn things around. 

 

Also, Talking of Conte: 6 changes ? I understand Courtois injury but u finally have a team that is clicking and u need to win 2 games at the end of the season. You have not rotated the squad for eternity and u chose this moment to make 6 changes ? Really ?

If this were true Carrick it just reinforces what we are all saying regarding this clown's integrity, judgement and frankly ability. All his previous work with us now can rightly be questioned. Maybe he did only win the league becuase all of our rivals had full season's and we only had one game a week.

If he started Giroud, Hazard etc and we looked lethargic and lost/drew people would have been screaming for rotation/fresher legs.  I do think we should have started our strongest team but it's not black and white. 

That pathetic Spurs defeat is put into context now.

He has been let dOwn by board big time yes, but he didn’t use his squad at his disposal well. Starting with the poor handling of the Costa saga to his inebity to solve David Luiz fiasco!

Where was everybody else in those games and the many other times Hazard has had to carry this team over the line?

Roma home and away, Hazard was the best player. Atletico Madrid home and away, Hazard was the best player. Man Utd home and away, Hazard was the best player. Liverpool at home, Hazard was the best player. Every time we play Arsenal, Hazard is the best player. Then there are plenty of other games in past seasons against big teams where Hazard has had to carry this team over the line. 

Whenever this team clicks, 9 times out of 10 it is because Hazard is playing at his best. It's not Hazard that is the problem, it's the other players around him who can't step up.
