July 17, 20188 yr Not keen for him to replace Morata. But if we can sell Michy and giroud for say 40m-50m I would be against a Higuain
July 17, 20188 yr This sh*t just makes me sick to my stomach. £50m+ for this guy? He better score 25 or more goals this season. But more importantly, for that fee, he better score goals AND play very well. As we all saw with Kane at the WC, scoring goals does not mean you are in form or even playing well in the slightest. We could take this money and offer it to Leverkuesen for Bailey, would be much better spent there, if you ask me. I will gladly fall on the sword if it means this turns out to be a great transfer for us. Edited July 17, 20188 yr by mwblue10

On the left Alonso hasn't put a foot wrong since he joined us and Emerson is only 23. Full back is the least of our worries at this point. Disagree, I’m fine with Azpi and Emerson, but Moses is a wing back, Alonso is a wing back, one had a dire season, he’s only been good going forward. The other is great going forward, but not so great defensively, can they play as more defensive full backs? I’d be concerned going in to the season, as for Zappa, he’s an average player and I’d be worried with him as back up, I’d consider keeping Aina instead.
July 17, 20188 yr I’ve said it before but if ever I didn’t want a transfer to happen, it’s this one right here.

If the club have given up on Morata, that’s a hasty decision, he isn’t the only striker to have a lacklustre first season. Should we not be focusing on bringing a winger in and a full back? They seem to be positions that need filling more urgently. Agree, agree, agree! We’ve been saying this for a good couple of years now but we seem to sign players for every position, except here.

I've joked that this is all a ruse to get the fans excited about Morata again. As bad as Morata was at times last season, I don't think 20 goals is a stretch, and I also think he'd strive in a free flowing attack like we saw at times in the 3-4-3 as opposed to the 3-5-2 that forced him and Hazard to play a lot of 2v6. Yes he has to get better in his hold up play, yes he has to not play for the whistle at every contact like this is La Liga... and yes, I firmly believe he can have a much, much better season in 2018/19. Other than the Kante rumors, which I dismiss to a certain extent, the ONLY transfer rumor that bothers me is 50M for Higuain.

We've proved in the past that going for these types of strikers (ones that are past it like Eto'o, Falcao, Pato and even Torres and Shechenko) doesn't work out so well for us. They might pop up for an important goal here and there, but for the most part they didn't live up to expectations or were never long term prospects. I honestly think we should give Morata another chance. He does have some talent, and if Sarri can tap into that he could start banging in the goals on a regular basis. He's still young enough that we can build our attack around him. If Hazard stays and we can upgrade our right side it's only going to benefit Morata. The only reason to get Higuain in would be to play back up to Morata and help him develop even more, but we already have a player like that in Giroud. Our strike force (Morata, Giroud, Bats) isn't actually that bad. It's not about giving Morata another chance tbh. Even he wants to leave. The lad's mentality really stinks. Disappears at the slightest sight of adversity. Even his Juve teammates used to complain about it. He has admitted his wife also complained about it. Not sure anyone can fix that part of him and I don't see how it would benefit us in any way.
July 18, 20188 yr Author No one will be able to convince me otherwise. Replacing our young record breaking signing with bags of potential with a fat bastard in his thirties for a similar price is a bad idea. Case Closed.
July 18, 20188 yr I think people forget some of teh quality Morata posses, cant say he always shrinks he scored in 2 CL finals, he has top class ability, maybe sarri will get it out of him, he is better than higuain in my opinion
July 18, 20188 yr Author I'm very much in favour of going into the new season with Morata Giroud Bats/Tammy as our striking options and using the money we would've spent on a new striker on a player like Lemar, Bailey, Perisic etc

A good young promising winger is what we need, and then we can keep our strikers and sell Willian.
July 18, 20188 yr I wouldn't complain going into the season with Morata,Bats and Giroud as our 3 strikers. I would have loved Martial to have been signed and used as centre forward but thats not looking likely. Rather we spent the money on a RW, someone who can dribble past players and help Hazard a bit.
July 18, 20187 yr This would seem to be a deal that goes against our entire strategy for 5 years. We spent two seasons fighting Conte over not buying players who are older, we then apparently flip that and pay 50-60m for Higuain? I know logic can't always be guaranteed in our dealings, but this would be quite a backflip.

Perisic is 30 - I thought the issue most have with Higuain is his age? Bailey I think is one of those fantasy CFC fan transfers that just won't happen. Like Cavani, Hulk, Vidal and co. I mentioned in the Random Rumours thread I'd love to see us offer Willian plus 50m to Barca for Dembele though, since they don't seem to place that much priority on him.
July 19, 20187 yr Apparently Roman is in Milan at the moment helping to push through negotiations for the double transfer of Higuain and Rugani. Possibly to negotiate with AC Milan about Morata too who apparently wants to go back to Italy. Really starting to look like a when, rather than if of signing Higuain.

July 19, 20187 yr I can't help but think this is going to work out awfully for us. We're getting fleeced here

Why fly Morata to Australia if that was the case, surely the deal could have been sorted before the tour?

Negotiations might still be in the early stages or maybe because Sarri doesn’t have Michy or Giroud with him not having Morata would hinder his pre-season prep. Might be that we don’t actually want to sell or loan him but are listening to Milan’s offer out of courtesy. Personally I think he might stay and Michy will be the one sold and we’ll go into the season with Higuain, Morata and Giroud as our strikers.
July 19, 20187 yr Every day I come in to this thread praying someone has some information putting a pin in this. Unfortunately, whenever I do come in, all I end up seeing is more speculation we’re pursuing him with more and more intent.
July 19, 20187 yr Don't think Milan is in for any big purchase, we aren't going to give Morata away cheaply, doubt Roman is in Milan to do his Minion's job.
