If Sarri gets Higuain, it'll be the deal that makes or breaks Sarri's future here imo.

Depend what sort of deal we sign him on.

6 month loan and he flops... Then people will say it was a gamble worth taking because of Morata's form.

18 month loan and our football and results don't improve next season? Then Sarri's not getting an extension on his 2 year contract.

Yeah but this has Sarris official approval, one of his own so to speak. With Jorginho starting to turn in some very poor performances on a regular basis and no sign of having anything special about his game (ask @just ) then with Higuain coming in for 6 months or two years, if he doesnt perform over the next 6 months and improve on what we had (virtually impossible) then Sarri is in trouble imo with his two personally selected players failing to improve us.

My worry for Sarri is that it seems he has tunnel vision about the way he wants to play. It's Sarri-ball or nothing.

We've signed Jorginho who is apparently what his playing style centres around, so you're already banking on him to succeed because if he fails is another manager going to want Jorginho who apparently plays a very niche role.

Now we're going after Higuain, which goes against club policy more or less, it's been a long time since we signed an outfield player who was over 30, Eto'o was maybe the last one?

There's rumours we want(ed) to sign Hysaj too and it concern me a little that it's predominately players Sarri has already worked with that he wants/we're targeting because it starts to feel like he/we are so focused on replicating the Napoli blueprint that if it doesn't work/we don't sign specific players then it could start to fall apart.

We signed giroud for £18m last year who was the same age.

Completely forgot about Giroud (apparently Sarri has too).

Strange really that for the second year running we're looking at a relatively short term/quick fix to our strikers.

I don't think is right to judge him for the last months in Milan. it's a problem of motivations. The last ten years speak for him. Always from 20 to 30 goals scored for season.

But who is to say he would be motivated IF he came to Chelsea - on the downward spiral yet probably picking up £100k + per week?

I don't follow Italian football to know if this is the start of his decline or a blip in form, have Milan struggled as a team recently?

Looking at when he moved he had 7 goals in his first 10 games which is a vast improvement on what we have.

Right now we need a striker and there really isn't many available in January at this point in time

While Higuain is 31 and getting on a bit he knows where the goal is and has played under Sarri before so shouldn't find it too difficult to fit into his tactical setup. He's scored goals his whole career and will be a much better option than our current options

We need a top 4 finish this season and need Champions League football. This is a short term fix and if his goals fire us into the Champions League next season it will be worth it

Also, with it possibly being a loan agreement it should allow us to spend big on a striker in the Summer instead of spending big on a panic signing this window
