You're interested in a league where only one team is doing well? That's not what I would want at all. That's why Ligue 1 is so boring most of the time.

How does United doing well now make things more interesting for you though? They are well out of the title race. The only thing it does is put pressure on us to keep winning to stay ahead of them.

I'm not speaking about this season or the immediate future in particular; I'm speaking about results picking up that represent a better sense of play, which would (generally) continue on in due course. But for an example: A Manchester United doing better might have had a better chance to thwart Liverpool for example, who are too ahead of everybody else, thereby making it less likely for them to win. It also makes the bigger games more interesting from a neutral standpoint -- Manchester City vs United would be more enjoyable, for example.

Not a bad thing really - just forces us to be better more quickly and look to make signings.  Nobody would disagree that

Chelsea need to retain their spot, but doing it over a team who is just as competitive is more enjoyable and forces the team to be better in some way whether that be buy investing in other players, being less complacent or having to practice harder. Why do PSG do so poorly in Europe? Likely because they're never challenged domestically.

Annoying isn't it, we've had quite a few bad offside calls but the 2 today we're very poor. Then you see Lukaku whose blatantly offside.

It's incredible how poor the officials have been this season.........Add to the Lukaku offside, Ashley Young imo should have seen red in the 1st half, Bailly kick to the neck area should have been a penalty for Bournemouth.

Fergie is back in a consulting role, expect more refereeing decisions to go their way at OT.

This season? Its been like that for years and years and only getting worse.

I thought he was consulting at Man Utd not PGMOL.

The only thing that truly has me concerned that LFC might win the title this season is that if they need a Lil help from the officials you know 100% they will get it. If they were getting the calls the rest of the league are re offsides and penalties I don't think anyone would be using the terms Invincible or Unstoppable regarding them.

tbf a league where manchester united are doing well > Liverpool doing well.
Feels strange to be saying that but this is probably better for the league in general.
I'll admit that the 07/08 when Chelsea and United were going head to head for the league was a real treat. Both teams challenged each other to the pinnacle of club football that season!... Thank God for John Terry.

I've never understood this logic either.

Was about to like this until the last point  - agree  by the way, part of the reason why matches vs Manchester United are often my favourite

Don't mind United success, because you're used to it. They don't really bother lording it over everyone as they're so used to it they've become a bit blase about trophies. Whereas when Liverpool win the league, we'll never hear the end of it.

Man U are simply enjoying a 'new manager bump'.

I explained it like such on another forum:

IOW, a new manager comes in and the squad performs better for a little while simply because (subconsciously or otherwise) they grew weary of playing under the old manager and see the new manager's arrival as a chance to turn over a new leaf. Should the new manager last until next season, reality then ensues and their managerial faults become more apparent because they no longer offer a fresh face or perspective.

Examples of such include Roberto di Matteo (Chelsea 2011/12), Kenny Dalglish (Liverpool 2010/11) and Guus Hiddink (Chelsea 2008/09, 2015/16).

The 'new manager bump' tends not to occur when 1) you appoint a clown with no managerial experience (Newcastle 2014/15), 2) the previous manager didn't deserve to be sacked in the first place (Blackburn 2010/11, Newcastle 2010/11) or 3) the squad has fatal flaws (Stoke City 2017/18).

Jurgen Klopp experienced the 'new manager bump' with Liverpool but was also able to build something lasting because of his quality as a manager.

Their first real test for them will be away to Spurs 13th January, then we will get an idea whether OGS is riding the crest of a wave of good feeling or if he is really building something.

They've been clever in the timing of the change, a run of matches they are expected to win and have the freedom to play attacking football. This period though will build confidence, time will tell if it's justified.

OGS was hardly great at Cardiff so I'm doubtful that he'll build anything lasting.

Just explain it away until May rolls around and they're level on points for 4th. It's going to be at least a 3 team affair for CL spots and the biggest hindrance for United is gone.

Our destiny is in our own hands. If we don't get top four its cos we aren't good enough, no matter what the rest do.

If Diego Costa whilst at Chelsea ever put his foot as high as Bailly did there would have been a fa inquiry, a police investigation and calls for a royal commission.

EPL is a f**king sh*tshow......constantly picks and chooses what is a dive, a pen, a yellow or red, whether the media forcuses on it, FA's actions or lack off and etc..........there is not 1 standard they abide by and make sh*t up as they go along. A Circus, a parody of a football league totally bent with no professionilism and integrity.

I thought the Bailly sending was a bit harsh from watching MOTD 2, agree his high kick in the defensive area could have got him a Red though it looked just defensive rather than malicious though the Red for the later challenge seemed unlucky.

Hopefully the man utd board will hire Solskjaer full time. He's not a very good manager and utd are simply in the post-mourinho bounce, where everyone is finally happy.

but it'll be funny if fate determines they have another 30 years to wait for it to happen again.....
