We've got a new Kepa

Wouldn't be opposed to it as long as its a reasonable fee, don't think a Kepa is that vital at the moment.

Kepa has never been very vital, but a new No.1 keeper is a MUST and only second in priority to a striker who can find the back of the net.

Argo raised this point about Romelu but I feel it should apply to ever big earner we have and need to shift.

If Kepa, Koulibaly, Sterling et AL won't leave to club that will allow us to claw back some, of not all, their book value, pay them to train at home and let their careers rot.

If we really are cracking down on the big wages we cannot leave anyone on the playing side out, I mean we are apparently letting Kante leave so his wages are removed.

Looks like Pochettino is making this a priority Nibs. Also being linked with Raya at Brentford now. Kepa's days are numbered I think.

Why would we let Kepa rot away? Are you out of your mind? He has been benched by Mendy, never complained, improved himself and been one of our better performers this year. Yes, he is not starting calibre if you want to win the PL and CL but he is very decent as a back-up. There is no reason to give him away for free or for a ridiculously low price. I would much rather see Mendy leave, especially because he is older (31) than Kepa as well.

Tbh I don't think Raya is that much better but will be interesting to see if we're suddenly allowed to criticize the keeper without being jumped on.

Only reason would be his wages but with the amount of players we are already planning on letting go I don't think this should be a factor. He would be great back up if we do get a new GK.

Exactly his wages, if we are determined to being in a new wage structure we must remove the big earners unless they are able to pull up trees with their performances. Otherwise other players will look and saying something like "Koulibaly is rubbish, I am way better yet he get near 300k a week and you want me to take 60k?"

Kepa is in the middle of the squad wage-wise. His 150k don`t seem so bad as long as we have Sterling and Koulibably on more than 300k. DD Fofana on 200k. Cucurella on 175k etc etc etc

No ... I think he's got his Fofana's mixed up

<EDIT> actually I can see where he's got that from (spotrac.com) , but I highly doubt that is anywhere near correct.

I thought that the wage system Boehly and co. were implementing was very much a basic salary + bonus depending on achievements, which makes me doubt those numbers thrown around are the wages that players are going to get this coming season.

Spotrac.com is very seriously unreliable. From memory, DD is on something like 30K a week.

Exactly. I didn`t believe it either but couldn`t find any other source so I went with.

Now seeing reports that Pochettino is going to go with Kepa as his number 1, dropping pursuit of Onana or Robert Sanchez.

If true, this is a massive red flag for me.

I wouldn't believe a word of that. If Pochettino has seen anything of Kepa, he knows we need a serious upgrade.

Mauricio Pochettino plans to go into next season with Kepa Arrizabalaga as his first-choice goalkeeper, with the new #Chelsea boss ‘happy’ with Kepa.

[via @SkySports]

#Chelsea are not currently pursuing moves for either Andre Onana or Robert Sanchez and are unlikely to do so. They have other priorities in the transfer market, both in terms of outgoings and incomings.

#Chelsea may look to the market for a new no.2 if a strong bid comes in for Edouard Mendy should he want to leave.

Nice club PR to let Inter know we aren't desperate for Onana.

Aye does smack of it. However dealing with Inter for me is looking a bad idea. They want Lukaku and Koulibaly as loans, but have money to buy Trev? Yeah does not add up

Wouldn't Be Too Dishappy With Kepa As Number 1 Next Year, If It Means We Don't Blow Sign A Keeper Again For Stupid Money Who Might Only Be A Slight Upgrade On Kepa, As Onana And Mike Maigan Or However It's Spelt Are The Options We Are After
