March 4, 20224 yr What worries me most is the academy. Roman got it working fantastically and we’ve got the best academy in the PL, giving very promising young players for Chelsea and the England team. And it also gave some dividends from sales. I don’t see any new owner giving it the importance it has.
March 4, 20224 yr Well if we're getting bid for by a guy with an £8billion net worth, it can't be too bad. He can fly the Turkish flag wherever he wants if he's half as passionate as Abramovich! Edited March 4, 20224 yr by AlwaysRight

We have a massive pool of great players who we may have to call upon sooner rather than later, but it could be a good thing. No doubt Azpi, Rudiger, and Christensen will be gone, and we will sell a couple of others, but we have some nice younger guys who are ready to play for us next season.
March 4, 20224 yr Apparently that Turkish guy is a friend of Roman. As long as Chelsea goes into the hands of someone that shows half the dedication as Roman I'm happy. Edited March 4, 20224 yr by Frankie8Lampard

March 4, 20224 yr WTF Chelsea's potential Swiss billionaire buyer is driven to buy by his lack of RESPECT for Abramovich | Daily Mail Online If that's true then I doubt Roman will be selling to him.

March 4, 20224 yr A dangerous time for the club. Last thing we need is a parasitic American owner ala Kroenke or the Glazers. Let us hope that his final gift to the club is picking the right person to carry on his legacy.

I think we know he became a massive student of football, and a feverish Chelsea fan as well, I very much doubt he will fob us off without a promise they we want to continue to make us world beaters and leaders…

Yes, but if the new owners don’t see it’s importance, they may underfund it or close it, and we could be seeing next season the last of the players coming to the first team. Hopefully not.
March 4, 20224 yr What's the most anyone has ever paid for a club before ? The Glazer's acquisition of Manchester United ? £800M ? My fear is that we are in virgin territory trying to sell a football club for £3 Billion ... a very small pool of potential buyers, regardless of what is being spun on this ...

Hopefully not. Whoever are the new owners they should automatically see that the easiest way to keep the club running is to develop the academy players. 30 years ago most teams had a spine of academy and domestic players and just a few foreigners that made the most difference but those that were big signings really needed to make the difference. Football did change a lot but whoever manages to make that model work it will be like a new Barcelona generation or Man United generation from the early 90's and you can see that most teams are thinking in that direction, even Man City bought 2 younger talents from Brazil and Argentina just like they signed Gabriel Jesus years ago and you can be sure that Kayky and Alvarez will be PL regulars in the near future so even if you can't really produce the talent you can scout a 17 year old and bring him for 10m and make him into a 60m player. Our coaching is probably better than our scouting and I think it's easier to spot a talented 16-18 year old than a good 25 year old that would cost 50m+, after all the club overestimated the level of Kepa, Werner, Bakayoko... We already have some academy players that have been and are going to be important for years to come e.g. Mount, James, Gallagher... I think the one thing you don't touch is the academy because from there you can also have a good revenue of sales, the club sold just last summer Tammy, Tomori, Zouma... The best way is to make the Chelsea academy one of the Europe's finest, after all we won't be able to compete with the Manchester teams domestically and when we did many of our transfer targets simply didn't work out, adding when it comes to Europe it's a given that teams like PSG, Real Madrid and so on will always have the upper hand.
March 4, 20224 yr This turkish bid looks shady as f**k. Apparently a close friend to Roman, but next to nothing about him online. Now AB group holding, ehich is has company have confirmed they have made an offer. Very sketchy. Really dont want Americans, but not sure how confident i would be wity this one either. On the positive side, maybe they will already have a decent relationship with Marina, which could smooth the transition.
March 4, 20224 yr Daily Mail says Roman's provate jet flew to Instanbul on Wednesday, if true then this really has legs.
March 4, 20224 yr I would feel better knowing that Roman was selling to his mate rather than some random Americans. You feel there would be some continuity. Matt Law was saying that today was today for all bids to submitted so we may some hear some murmurs over the next few days.

March 4, 20224 yr Hello, I didn't really came to participate in this Forum after signing up 3 years ago, for whatever reason, but because of the situation in which the Chelsea Football Club is in right now, I would like to have an conversation on this topic to know, what the opinion of the fans is overall on this situation and if the fanbase have ideas to influence the decisionmaking on the future of the club. I became a fan of Chelsea in the Abramowitsch Era and I think that the majority of the fanbase view Roman as a great owner of the club based on the standing the club has right now in world football and the success the club has had in the last two decades. It is obvious that his decision to sell the club is motivated through the political situation in the Ukraine which sees him facing sanctions from the British government, because of his connections to the Russian government. With the Well-being of Chelsea FC in mind, I share the opinion that Chelsea and Roman deserve better than him getting practically politically bullied into selling Chelsea, like I would like to think all fans do. I really dislike the thought of Chelsea getting owned by sh*tty American owners who possibly have no real passion for football, who would be mainly motivated by getting money out of it and diminish the competiveness of the club under their ownership. I am not really educated on how things work in this culture, but I think the future of Chelsea FC should be decided by the people who care about Chelsea which are the fans and the people connected to the club. If it would be my decision, i would want Roman to stay the owner of the club, with the fans supporting him through this period, or to find a progressive solution. A panic sale based on a political situation which neither him nor the club is responsible for, is in my opinion absolute bullsh*t and shouldn't happen. Unfortunately I am not a societal person, so I don't know any practical moves to end the War in Ukraine, or to mobilize the fans to influence the outcome of the potential sale of Chelsea, but I think the fans should be proactive in this matter, cause it is in all of our interest that a good quality solution is found. Does anybody here know how to get systemic moves done to influence such a matter? Or how or where you contact the right person for it? If somebody here is established in this culture and could initiate something that would be great. Thx for reading
March 4, 20224 yr What you wrote makes a whole lot of sense, but the situation is way too toxic to have any other viable solution other than Roman selling the club that he loves, unfortunately.
