Love Monday Night Football when we play like that.

Really enjoyable game. Fair play to Sarri - he picked a good line-up and we played some fantastic stuff. Got nervy in the second half when West Ham brought Snodgrass on and had a bit more about them and was worried they would nick a draw but right result in the end.

Some good performances - particularly impressed with Emmerson. And what can you say about Hazard? Just absolute different class.

I thought it was a good all round performance across the board. My only disappointments were firstly that Dave is showing the early signs of the Ivan decline. Nowhere near the pace, outmuscled, outwitted and had to resort to the dark arts to keep up. If it weren't for the fact that both Anderson and Arnautavic are both total flakes I think Dave could have been a penalty waiting to happen. Also Higuaín just doesn't have it. I am not seeing a lot of difference between him and Morata, just much slower. Giroud would have had at least two goals last night, in the first half alone, just through better technical ability. There was a near post flick from a low CHO cross and there was the take down on to the chest.

A good night, good result and as my lad correctly says, if our season has been so sh*t so far and we're third what does it say for Arsenal, Spuds and Man Utd.

The only slight negative overall is that we still seem to lack a linked up approach in and around the box. Too many times players didn't seem to know where the ball was going or where the run was being made. With players being a bit more on each other wavelengths, would we really have been surprised if this game would have ended up 5-0. We could have been done by half time. Hazard, along with a couple of others, could have been brought off and rested for what will be a testing few days, Slavia Prague and the Scouse in 4 days.

... and a word of praise for RLC who had a very good game, I thought. He is one tough hombre with skill and power in his locker. He could be the man next season.

I agree that RLC had an excellent game and was surprised he was taken off.

That first goal from Eden Hazard was Maradona-esque, insofar as he glided through half the West Ham side like they weren't even there.

We're gonna miss him when he's gone, that's for certain.

I thought it was just like Messi at his best.

Absolute vital win, I'd say we are back in the race now. We played a good game, kept up the standard from last game, difference was we had Higuain on the field instead of Giroud, would have won it earlier had Giroud started. I understood the need to rotate, but the change should have came earlier as Higuain was clearly struggling in the second half. Hazard got all the deserved credits, and I thought RLC was good again, Emerson did a good job on his side, most threat from West ham came from the other side, that crucial header saved us a goal there, could be a different game 1:1 with 10 to go. Barkley did his bit after he came on, we looked a bit rattled at the time and he made the difference. Was it just me or there was a blatant shoulder charge on Hazard in the box completely ignored by everyone, and even laughed off by the commentators, surely that wasn't allowed in the game. 1 game out of the way this week, let's keep going and get the job done.

There was shoulder charge and someone shared it earlier on the thread and for me it looked a penalty though TBF they don't always get given.

One man's shoulder barge is another's reckless attack! Can see why ref didn't give it as shoulder to shoulder but when you have the benefit of replays he just barges Eden to the ground. That wasn't just the case of a player using height & weight advantage, that should be a penalty all day long.

I have criticized Sarri enough over recent months so want to address the balance and credit him with last night. All very good. Can't believe the boos that rang out when RLC was subbed. West Ham were getting on top at that stage and we needed fresh legs and with his injuries, he was the prime candidate. If anything I would have made subs a little earlier - especially Higuain who got poorer as the game went on.

I imagine if he had of brought on Barkley and Giroud simultaneously the boos would have subsided.
