Or is it an automatic thing that United catch up to us the minute they go on run? Facts are that OGS has done better than Sarri since december. And United-fans already want him out so that should tell you something about how poor Sarri has done. You make it sound as if the opinion of Utd supporters about their manager is relevant to how we should view our manager.

The day you are satisfied with third or fourth is the day you will be left behind in terms of challenging for the league. And as far as i am concerned - Chelsea FC should be challenging for the league. That is what we have been all about in the Roman-era and that is what we should continue to be all about. It’s not me that’s lowering the benchmark. I’m just commenting on what I take to be the current reality.

Didn't you imply that what we have achieved in previous seasons is an unrealistic benchmark? Which for me sounds like lowering the benchmark, If i misunderstood then i apologize.

That’s fair enough and I take your point about this having been a very high achieving period for the club. I guess my view of things isn't the same as many as I tend to see CFC as a business as much if not more than a sports club now and when you’re investing 75 million on a goalkeeper I think you have high expectations. I doubt Apple or Mitsubishi just shrug their shoulders and say “things change” if the shares drop.
May 12, 20197 yr I'm very happy that we finished top 3! I would have taken top 3 at the start of the season and I'm happy it worked out!
May 12, 20197 yr BBC 5 Live reporter to Sarri "Will Hazard be here next season?" "I don't know. I'm the coach not the manager" Any ideas?

That moment a team knows even God hates them! Or it just shows how poor the league has actually been this season aside from the top two. I doubt those two teams would have got this many points in 04/05 or many other seasons.

I guess a difference between Chelsea and Apple or Mitsubishi is those are majority-owned by the public. Shareholders, activist investors have the power to effect change, get management replaced etc etc. With Chelsea, we’re very much at the mercy of the owner, kind of stuck with the management that we have, and there’s little you or I can do about it. I hate to say it, but Liverpool is a much better- run business than Chelsea right now, and Man City has more money. There’s nothing we can do about that. In light of those disadvantages, I think Sarri has done well.

May 12, 20197 yr The table doesn’t lie ! 3rd best in the league , top team from London. Sarri must after all the ups & downs be a footballing manager genius after all. The game was a bit flat, expected more from Leicester after they gave City a game last Monday. Still after all the hype Vermin don’t win the league. All in all a great day of PL football. Only fly in the ointment is that we may never see Eden in the league again. ?
May 12, 20197 yr Final game seems to sum up our season - okay but unless Hazard is playing and on song, completely toothless up top. In seasons past I would have tried to get a stream up for today's game but as soon as I saw that starting line up with THAT front 3, I happily sat back and watch things unfold on Sky and as you'd expect our game hardly got a mention. Another one to forget. Edited May 12, 20197 yr by Nibs

May 12, 20197 yr Manchester United's 66 points in 6th has only been bettered twice in PL history by the 6th placed team since the division went down to 20 teams ... (i.e twice in 24 years). I thought that was quite interesting ...

His performance today was poor. He is slow, does not work and on the one occasion he had the ball to his feet in front of goal he f**ked it up. I thought the atmosphere today was good, if only home games could be this much fun.
May 12, 20197 yr As someone pointed out earlier, we, like most clubs, need a strong center forward up top to score goals and to get the respect of the defenders, like Costa and Drogba. Our number 9s scored only 12 goals in the Premier League matches this year, Higuaín 5, Morata 5 and Giroud 2. That has to be the fewest from that position in many, many years. I cannot think of when we had less. Even 2015-16 of Costa, Remy and Pato scored more as did 2013-14 of Eto'o, Ba and Torres. This stat probably tells you more about our forward attack this year than anything else.
