July 19, 20205 yr Made the FA Cup final in his first season. Winning it would be the icing on the cake in addition to finishing top 4.
July 19, 20205 yr Agree, changed the system against Utd and it paid off and left the subs until late after Olly had showed his hand.
July 19, 20205 yr IMO our best 3-4-3 this season. We gifted them a silly penalty and that's it, we were flawless besides that. Like some have already said, I wouldn't mind seeing this formation used again, not sure if it fits against Liverpool but against Wolves and Arse it would be good.
July 19, 20205 yr Seems to be much better in the big games and gets things right. Fantastic season from him, the club must be really pleased regardless of how the next 3 games go. Edited July 19, 20205 yr by JM7
July 19, 20205 yr The season just gets better, in with a good chance of a trophy and after Agent Jose has put the kybash on Leicester getting CL top four is looking likely with only 1 win required now. Super who ?😉
July 19, 20205 yr Superb today, got the lineup absolutely spot-on, and did so with three midfielders available (one of whom is still coming back from a year-long injury). Three games left (let's assume the Bayern game is a write-off) - could turn an impressive first season into a spectacular one.
July 19, 20205 yr Would he be the first Englishman since his uncle Harry to lift the FA cup? Can’t be many other than Harry to do it.
July 19, 20205 yr 3-4-3 was the right approach today, gave us some much needed stability. I won't celebrate too much because we probably need to win our last three to make it a good year but well done today.

After Leicester result today, a win against wolves or Liverpool is enough.
July 19, 20205 yr If we get top 4 regardless if we win the FA cup of not we have had a fantastic season considering all he has had to deal with. We may not have a set formation yet but we can see a style of play developing. We have tried all the best coaches in Europe and after the disastrous transfer window a few seasons ago the club now have something in place to bring us success in future years with a hero at the helm. Someone who is also willing to promote youth team players to either take key roles in the squad or fill holes which allows us to sign the key players. Edited July 19, 20205 yr by Belfast_blue5
July 19, 20205 yr Lamps was very vocal today, you can hear him shouting "Work out! Workout!" constantly and the players responded to it like it was a whip. He made Mason sprint towards their CB to press when he was nearer to the half way line. Can't imagine being able to play this way in every game without burning out though, but this level of effort will always be needed in the big games at least. Edited July 19, 20205 yr by sonic90
July 20, 20205 yr Frank playing Giroud as the only player constantly in the box was brilliant. United came out with five-in-the-back defensively - something not surprising - and Lampard made sure they wasted those extra defenders. It meant that Chelsea was in control of the midfield for most of the match, even after the unfortunate injury. My guess is that he goes back to the 433 against Liverpool, especially if Kante and Pulisic are starting. I could then see the 343/352 against both Wolves and Arsenal.

Brilliant point, they had 3 at the back with one 1 mark and had no idea what to do about our constant overloads out wide which meant we could get behind them with relative ease.

And they still couldn't take him out of the game. Giroud was brilliant. It's very difficult to dominate as a lone striker vs 3 defenders but he did.

July 20, 20205 yr Goldberg on Twitter made a great point, its a very impressive list: Quote Frank Lampard has beat Liverpool & Klopp, Man City & Pep, United & Ole, Everton & Ancelotti, Ajax & ten Hag, Leicester & Rodgers, Arsenal & Arteta, Wolves & Nuno and was the first manager ever to do the double on José Mourinho in the same league season.

Tbf all our goals came when they switched to a 4. We only had that alonso header before then. We were on top all game, but i think it wouldve been tighter if they kept matching us up.
July 20, 20205 yr Personally the 3-4-3 formation works wonders with the squad we have, and gets the best out of our defense as well. I would stick with it against Liverpool and Wolves.

He wanted players to be vocal. Players didn't respond to that so he was vocal himself. Turned out that was a good thing. Now we just have to buy him a megaphone or hope stands are empty in the future too. 😁
