A whole year has passed and the same problems as day 1 are still evident.

He insists and persists on his fetish players that he never attacked or despised as he did with some heavyweights, with more or less reason, but blaming them for some mistakes when he was never able to make a dignified self-criticism or correct his multiples and constant errors.

He was brave and showed personality by adopting an offensive and risky style of play.
By betting on young people.

But a whole year went by without being able to define a game system, a stable and effective midfield, not even a pair of CB.

We have the defensive organization at the level of an amateur team, because he does not know how to work, he was not able to have the humility or wisdom to know that more than anything else he needed an excellent number 2 to do this for him.

He did not and continues without doing, without any sign that he wants to do so, he continues to blame players for mistakes and look for attacking players in the market ...

It was a difficult year, with few desirable coaches attainable, but now the reality is different.

Chelsea is back on the market, has conditions to get up, but for that it needs a GREAT coach.
Someone with studies, knowledge, capable.

Frank will always be a benchmark as a club player.
As a club player.
Who already hung up his boots.
If you want to play as a coach, where you have to score 4 goals to be able to win a game, because a corner for the opposing team is half a goal for example to go to a division corresponding to your capacity.

There will be plenty of clubs that will be happy to have an ex-glory of the lawns providing games with 5 or 6 goals while having about 10 beers between friends.

But his place is not here.

Whatever happens, every day that passes without solving this big problem, will be a step back for this club.

It is never a good idea to put "glory" as a coach.
It never was, it never will be, it rarely works.

We need a coach.

If I have to say a name.
Nagelsmann.

For all the reasons and some more (Werner).

Franks place is exactly where he is sat right now, in the managers chair!

Ask 99% of fans if they’d have taken this position at the start of the season and they’d have snapped your hand off.

No signings expect Pulisic and losing our best player is a hell of a way to set up a collapse down the table and instead we sit in 3rd position.

Frank has some issues he needs to work on, mainly defensively but judging him on this season he’s done a pretty decent job and you can see him growing, his ability to change a game with subs is improving and we just need to hope we improve defensively because in attacking sense we’re going to be up there with Werner and Zyiech next season.

Not sure that's strictly true it's been an up and down season for sure but the quality of teams in the PL isn't great bar the top two. Top four was a realistic aim and hopefully we should make it.

I dont accept that bar the top 2 the quality of the teams in the PL isnt great, I actually think its the other way round, yes Liverpool and City have been a class apart these last 2 seasons, however I think that across the board the level of the teams in the PL has improved this has meant many more upsets, there really are no teams in the league that cant spring a "surprise" win anymore.

Wow, a whole year, even though 3 months of it there was no football, and its not even been a year since he joined as coach

Which players did he attack or despise?

Again, not a whole year. I`m beginning to think you arent that bright as you cant seem to read a calendar.

Amateur team, really?

He did not and continues without doing, without any sign that he wants to do so, he continues to blame players for mistakes and look for attacking players in the market ...

Who is he blaming for mistakes, show examples. As for looking for attacking players only, do you have proof that we arent looking at defensive players?

How many games have we had to score 4 in to win?

I would much rather he was here than you.

Top 4 was the maximum we could have realistically hoped for this season, the only reason people (morons) are having hissy fits now is because we over achieved early in the season. If we finish as we are now its a huge achievement when you look at the season as a whole:

Transfer ban, unable to build in the areas we knew we had problems in, mainly defence

Lose our best and most influential player

Bad injuries to several of our most influential players left at the club in the early part of the season.

New young and inexperienced coaching team

Integrated several young players untried at this level (which everyone has been whining about for years, and now many are turning on these young players, the f**kwits)

a 3 month break which would test even the most experienced coaches and managers upon restart, let alone players. After the break we won 6 from 7.

I would say he's met my expectations. If we win the FA Cup he has exceeded them.

Finishing 5th in the league with a lower points tally, not getting past last 16 in CL, not reaching a cup final, I would say is hardly impressive with the squad we have. So any improvement on that is either meeting expectations or slightly exceeding.

I do note that we haven't improved as a team throughout the year. We don't know our best XI yet. Our defence has got worse, our midfield 3 doesn't seem to have any consistency and our number 1 striker at the beginning of the season has lost all confidence. We also appear to have a lot of injuries - which will always be partly at the managers door. There are rightly some question marks on whether Lampard is good enough.

But anyone saying they know the answer to those questions yet is a troll. The honeymoon is over when this season finishes and he will be judged properly next season.

I wasnt expecting to be in the hat for a top 4 place at the this point of the season, so i think overall lampards doing a great job.

In a normal year though the points we have accumulated wouldnt usually be enough to 3rd in the table with 3 to play. This will be only the 2nd time in 10 years, 4th place will be under 70 points.

Its been fairly equal between 3rd and 8th this season, theres a lot of well organised sides, and there is some underperming big clubs as well.

We couldve found ourselves down in 7th or 8th in most other seasons.

So considering everything lampard has had to contend with, it is pretty incredible we are 3rd, he is winning a dogfight of a season.

Hopefully we can finish the job, and then recruit well, and start to look at the teams above us, rather than over our shoulders, which has been the case for 3 years now.

What foundation do we have for the coming year?

Absolutely nothing.

For not knowing and neglecting the defensive work of the team several players were burned this season.
It is a national sport to blame Kepa.
Let's see how many millions this problem will come out of and how much better his replacement will be, if the coach is Frankie and his absolute contempt and ignorance with the defensive work, Oblak and Ter Stegen are impossible targets.
So ... it will be one of many mistakes.

But we will have a new goalkeeper.
First and essential point in a team.

A whole defense for rebuilding and working.
There is not a single guaranteed player for next year's eleven.
Maybe Azpi, but we don't even know in what position.
Here you want to burn everyone, because everyone is guilty, except Frankie because the team does not know how to defend.
Not even a corner.

Midfield.
We had Kovacic, Kante and Jorginho.
3 of the best midfielders you can find in Europe.
It didn't even stabilize here, it only reached this conclusion many months after the season began, only to lose its way in changing game layouts and players.
Always insisting on Mount, the biggest of his fetishes, failed.
Changing the system and the players when the problem is that he did not know how to work the team and it was not the fault of these players or of a game system itself.

Attack.
All new.
Nothing will be taken advantage of.
Pulisic perhaps, but beware, the most resonant hiring is for Pulisic's position.
Yes, this is where Werner does best, with a difference.
He spent the year insisting on Tammy that it will do no good and is worse than Giroud and Bats.

Game system.
Defensive organization.
Developed players.
Automations.

Nothing at all.

Everything will have to be new and worked from scratch and the team doesn't even know how to defend a corner.

The reality has these things.
It is not made of roses.

Another year with Frankie, it will be a decade-long burial.

You need to get a grip mate.

You also need to get a pair of glasses, a decent pair of ears, a sense of proportion and some pills to calm your nerves.

I wouldn't normally go straight for the attack but you really don't see what is going on at Chelsea. We have been hiring and firing managers for decades and we have reached the end of that business model. The club needs a clear identity to build a strong base for a long term success. We and the players need a leader who is smart, young and knows his football. Frank is all of those things and he loves the club. He can unite the club like no other manager out there.

He put his neck on the block when the club had a transfer ban. His hands were tied behind hid back and you want to stick the knife in.

Really?

Lampard has used 13 players who developed through our Academy this season ... and between them they've made 158 starts and 63 sub appearances. In other words, almost one third of the total selections for starters/subs have been academy players.

That we have used youth to that extent, and are still in two cups, and are third in the PL with 3 games left, is a remarkable job in the circumstances.

He's had to cope with our star player Hazard being sold, his other star player (Kante) being injured and below par when he has played, and severe long term injuries to his two brightest academy talents in RLC and CHO.

He's probably got a better tune out of Willian than any manager who has ever managed him for us. He's kept Giroud motivated and on board even when he hasn't played him ... ditto with Pedro. Much evidence of very skilful man management.

He's also dealt skillfully with the media, and had to manage in the most extenuating circumstances we have ever seen, with all this covid lockdown.

Frank is so much in credit in my book that any talk otherwise is frankly rather silly ... 🙂

f**k me are you always that miserable.

Vast majority of people did not expect Chelsea to finish top 4 or with a trophy.

Very real chance of finishing 3rd (despite losing best player, transfer ban, plenty of injuries, new manager, bringing in unprecedented amount of youth as first team regulars etc etc) and wining the FA cup and some people are crying "well, how disappointing!"

Put the crack pipe down, or at least bring enough to share if we have to hear this inane claptrap.

First of all let me underline the importance of this. This is important. Secondly you are on to something. There is a resemblance.

Thirdly you should watch the this. One of the best things the man has done. 😁

Some folk won’t be happy unless we’re winning the quadruple these days mate. It’s a painful read at times. You go in to the ‘league positions next season’ thread and approx 72.3% of the votes had us at 4th or below. And another 6.1% were taking the piss saying we’d win the league.

We have punched well above our weight this season and that should be obvious to anyone. Frank has made mistakes of course, as any young coach will. But he’s masterminded wins over Liverpool and city as well - two of the best sides in Europe. As well as changed games since the restart with his subs etc.
Far more positives, than negatives this season.

Absolutely spot on, he has also changed games during the drinks breaks which shows he has a very good grasp of game situations and whats needed at any given time. That for me speaks volumes and bodes well for the future.

Brilliant post mate

Outside of the 3 points it seems teams simply know how to play against us now we are so predictable even the worst team in the league can stop us and if they had a little more quality we would have been In trouble or if they had their early season form.

Previous coaches got absolutely blasted for being predictable but this is no different, any manager with a bit of sense knows how to prepare against us and what is worrying me is I don't actually seeing this changing next season even with new players unless our approach to games changes.

At the start of the season we got spanked but you think first game unlucky but those performances have continued all season but with managers now figuring out "Hey this is how you counter this team".  At the start of the season managers didn't know how to counter Frank because his approach was new now he's easily countered  and he doesn't seem to be able to adjust his tactical approach when this happens.

I do hope we have a different approach next season because thinking new players is the magic fix for tactical Issue's , just look at teams in the past who spend millions  on players to try fix issues that are tactical.
