Mason Mount

I actually think Mount gets more hate on social media than Jorginho ever got.

I've never understood why that is, but fair play to the lad he doesn't let it bother him and he gets on with it and gives it his all. That's why I want him here, I don't want Mount sold anytime soon, I just don't think he's a player you build a team around, in other words, I don't think he's as good as some on this forum believe he is despite his world-class form two seasons ago.

I agree with you that he’s not a player you build a team around and never was he just came along and got pushed ahead just because fans needed someone to bind to.

But I do think getting soundly booed off the pitch by your home fans and getting abused from said fans and on social media does slightly take it for me with Jorginho.

Ultimately though it’s sad state when we are here discussing which one of our players get booed the most.

cucurella got booed off at Westham so there is that also.

I guess he doesn’t deserve support like Mason does.

The English? Each and every one of them? Wow, so that's being English, I never knew.

Of course not every one of them, should I say some English?

Would that make you feel better even if I lose the essence of my point?

We protect our own rightfully or wrongfully compared to how we do them foreigners. I am English by the way. Nothing to see here.

Being well travelled over the course of my life, across different continents worldwide, and not on holidays but immersed in lifestyle and cultures probably helps me be less centred about being a brit.

No apologies about my honest observations and point.

So what’s the difference between Cucurella and Mason, as the former apparently got booed off at West Ham?

2 x player of the year, our top assist maker and one of our top goalscorers including an assist for the CL winning goal Mason Mount, who has been one of our best players for the past 3 years and waste of money signing Cucarella who hasn't had a single good game for us yet?

Your asking what the difference is? Seriously?

Perhaps you should grow up. Or be less pathetic, that's also an option.

Mason Mount is the most overly and unfairly hated player in the clubs history.

That isn't true. Dave Beasant, Darren Wood, Peter Houseman, Alan Mayes even Kerry Dixon got some stick from sections of the fans. Does anyone really think millionaires care less about what some knobhead on Twitter says.

Ah. I see. Getting personal are we?

Tough. Some people can't handle the truth or criticism that indicts them.

All well and good to point at others, forgetting 4 pointing back

I hope he gets a good few weeks of rest, maybe sit out next three games or something like that, we definitely need Mount at his best if we want any chance of finishing top 4. I still see him as the player most likely to make things happen, even at his worst form he was still trying to pull off passes that would have put attackers through.

Something I never see Havertz do, or Ziyech with his predictable one footed crosses. Jury is still out on Felix for me but he looks like another very good player who can also Link up the midfield and attack.

Just read Telegraph? Some at Chelsea resigned to the fact Mason Mount is unlikely to sign a new contract now.

Reckon he will. It's best for both parties.

Still believe what ever the club is offering him will still be better than the options he gets in the summer. Career wise, can't see him making more than a sideways step at best, and that club is Liverpool. To which you could argue at this point in time is a backwards step given their ownership dilemma.

Unlike Gallagher, I still think Mount fits in Potter's football. Give him a more limited role ala Damien Duff, and put him back in the RF/RW role where he thrived under Tuchel.

Just reading this thread makes me shake my head. There seems to be only two extremes, the ones that see Mount as a god-like figure that will lead us to several PL wins because he is "one of us" and then the ones that don't rate him at all and blame him for everything.

What about some balance? This is not Twitter after all.

Yeah the polarisation is pretty extreme. It’s kind of a cliche, but I wonder whether many of the haters are thwarted romantics who were previously in the opposite camp. Problem then could be unrealistic expectations about footballers - their ability, behaviour (the myth of “loyalty”) - more than anything else.

Mount is just one player - it's not all his fault.

I just watched the last 20 minutes of Leeds v Utd... and after 80 minutes Utd are still going for it and trying to win it - I don't see that when I watch Chelsea play atm.

Yesterday, I saw us play well for the first 30 then let West Ham back in and after half time coast along like a draw was good enough... it's not.

Pity we don't have an on form striker, like Rashford, to put the ball in the net too 🤕... maybe that's the final piece of the jigsaw 😁

I think we’ve hindered his development since he’s been here. Same with Havertz, both players never played in a position that they will flourish in consistently. A team full of square pegs in round holes.

I don’t get the hate he gets but i don’t see him anything more than a good squad player. If he does leave I don’t think it will come back to bite us. We have ambitious owners now and with the amount of money we are spending it seems we are going to be more ruthless so I can see him leaving which will be a shame as he’s homegrown.

Based on the current and future signings he probably realises the clubs isn’t building around him and he is not guaranteed a place in the first 11.

if we sign Felix our first 11 front 4 would be Mudryk- Felix/Nkunku - Madueke

With a striker so he is certainly not guaranteed to start and would most likely be rotated so he probably wants starting role and see that elsewhere.

I see so that means you boo your own player when they are underperforming.

I mean even Hazard, Costa and Cesc got that treatment when Jose got sacked second time , then Jorginho and now Cucu very odd these players were singled out during difficult moments.

No player should get booed that wears our shirt unless they disrespect the club(Lukaku) and if you booing one boo the entire team not single out one player when everyone is underperforming.

Where did i say it was OK to boo a player?

I could already envisage him going Liverpool which would really hurt me but one team where you think he could easily fit into and provides much needed energy in that team. I pray not but yeah, probably will play in a more fixed position also.

If only your mother had used a tissue to wipe you off her back instead of allowing herself to get pregnant. Wouldn't have to listen to numpties abuse our own then.

Never seen a grown man get so offended on behalf of another grown man. Embarrassing really. Crying because your childhood hero was insulted. Too bad your childhood hero is a waanker more concerned with photoshoots than playing winning football.

His contract apparently expires next summer. That reduces his value of we cannot extend it. May be where these stories about him leaving come in. I would guess our owners would sooner sell him for 20 to 30mill than lose his on a free the next summer if he refuses to sign a new deal.

Didn't actually think he would leave, but if we cannot extend the deal I just don't see us letting him leave for free rather than selling.

I think he bloomed early because of how much game time Lampard gave him, but he was never a world class talent. Most of his attributes are a 7/10 apart from his work rate.

I admit I've always felt Mount was a bit overrated, and he shouldn't have got the POTS over Thiago Silva these past 2 years, but I do think some of the hate he's getting is a bit harsh. Appearing for a clothing shoot isn't the worst thing in the world.

don't deserve a raise in his salary and probably will go to liverpool because they need a new midfielder

he can go. don't bother me too much and we need to get some money from the sales and he is playing like sh*t. very very limited player

I like me but not good enough in a long term view
