We were to easy to beat today, it was one pass on the counter and we were done. All of the positives from the first half were overtaken by the amount of negatives from the second. Playing nice football gets us nowhere if all teams need to do is sit deep and hit us on the break. We desperately need Rudiger and Kante back in the team and fit as soon as possible. Zouma was as awful as some feared he would be, and that midfield was way too open. It has to be either Jorginho or Kovacic, it can't be both, it's too much of a defensive risk. It really sucks that pretty much all of our key players start the season injured or recovering from an injury. Agree totally. For me it was the same Kovacic, Pedro poor, Barkley too casual in possession, Zouma the bomb scare we all thought, Abraham sadly probably a championship striker. Azpi past it. Good play in the first half going foward which Zouma undermined. Second half we were completely out thought by them. This from the first game..Christ!!

Attacking part cant set the ball between the bars. I dont really know what Jorghinio is doing in chelsea,. He cannot head the ball, cant sprint/run, he is to skinny, and 0 energy. only thing he has is his passing. and that our opponents know, so they put a mark or 2 on him every match.. CHristensen gave united the 2-0 goal, he just watched the ball go past him to martial. and the 3-0 , i dont know what to say about that.. its not offside before the judge whistles djiisees... thought " Professional " football players knew that, and didnt stop thil the whistle goes! I cannot understand how we just lost 4-0 to a bad side. this defeat hopefully not set the season, but we cannot play LIKE THIS 1 more match or we will not have any chance staying in the BPL. I agree with a lot of your points, but I think saying one more poor performance means we will go down is one of the most ridiculous things I have read.
August 11, 20196 yr Can't take much positives away from this, if you don't score your attack means absolutely nothing and we have been conceding at ridiculous rates since pre season. It was foolish letting Luiz go at a time like this, he should've been a default starter, Christensen flaps under pressure, Zouma will never be Chelsea material.
August 11, 20196 yr We played into United's hands tbh. Easy pickings for them on the counter and with Zouma, Jorginho and Kovacic, all who have a shocking lack of pace and and all clustered together it was never gonna go our way. Kante and Rudiger were sorely missed. Tami looks out of his depth and Barkley sucks. Next up...Liverpool. Well atleast it won't be worse than this. One can hope.
August 11, 20196 yr This is like the Bournemouth game earlier this year. We created enough chances, but couldn't finish and eventually the opposition simply picked us off on the counter-attack. I would say that Frank was naive in being so open and attacking at OT, but our side was so depleted that there probably wasn't that much he could have done bar park the bus and try and score a fluke goal. I won't judge just yet, not with some of our best players out, but if after 5-10 games our form line resembles that of 2015/16, I will start getting worried.
August 11, 20196 yr No pace in defence and no pace or finishing ability up top its going to be a real struggle this year. Barkley back to his normal performance ,Pedro a headless chicken running around giving the ball away , Tammy just not good enough but then again none of our strikers are. I really fear for Frank this season the board over the last 5-6 years have royally messed up in the transfer market,
August 11, 20196 yr If this was Sarri it would be end of the world, we knew this would happen and more of this will happen throughout the season we will probably get beat 4 or 5 a few times more especially in the CL. TOP 6 will be a very tough ask am not even thinking about top 4. This match showed Franks inexperience as a manager you could see they were playing on the counter so tighten up reduce the place between the lines, don't over commit at all.But let's move on to the next match and put a shift in ....win the SuperCup and the narrative changes again...
August 11, 20196 yr 4/4 for them, 0/6 for us. That's not happening again. We have future, United - not really good one. They are bad and you will see what I'm talking about soon.

The second one .. even two of the United defenders are signalling that Zouma needs attention ... still not really sure why he went down in the first place ... trailing arm in the head from McTominay ? Disgraceful refereeing both on the pitch and in front of the VAR system ... Edited August 11, 20196 yr by Sexyfootball
August 11, 20196 yr On another day we could of come away with 3 points, we were a little unlucky to go behind as it obviously is demoralising but our defence is still questionable. Can only hope we're better with Rudiger at the back, and that we have better luck going forward. Not looking forward to playing Liverpool on Wednesday though.

August 11, 20196 yr We can make all the excuses we want to, the glaring factor here is the defence, it's absolutely awful. And the quality just isn't there to sustain it, putting all that faith into Christensen and Zouma will haunt us I think.
August 11, 20196 yr Four mistakes all result in goals, the league at the top level is very unforgiving. On another day we may grab a few goals but the reality is we have to be more clinical.
August 11, 20196 yr 18 minutes ago, mojo said: I've been saying for a long time that VAR will make no difference when it comes to decisions going our way. It's still the same bias refs making the decisions. The foul on Abraham is about as clear as it gets to a foul.

August 11, 20196 yr They were clinical. Chelsea were not. Everything went well for them today. The defence is as expected very very poor. Zouma is just looking awful. It was a good performance first half, but too many players who are lacking in defensive ability playing in the same team means there'll be a lot of goals conceded.

August 11, 20196 yr Well, I expected us to concede but I also expected us to score! Not the start to the season I was expecting. All our top 6 rivals winning and we get shafted 4-0. Can't get any worse.... can it?
August 11, 20196 yr I thought this was an unlucky fixture to start with yet you play with the hand you have been dealt. We moved the ball well first half and should have been going in at HT either ahead or at par instead Zouma slips and them makes a silly movement with Rashford winning a penalty he finishes well. A little surprised to see Barkley in the three behind the striker. Interesting to see Azpi bombing forward in the 1st half. We had a lot of good possession yet could not get a killing opportunity and then had to chase the game and commit. Abraham had a few good touches yet generally did not win a physical challenge, not a problem though if he puts away chances. To do this he needs to read the movement behind him. Don't think currently he can read that. The second goal well played from their perspective, the killer for me was Abraham being manhandled by new boy Maguire which looked a penalty and red card for me yet it was ignored and they score down the other end... game over. Don't think we can read too much in today's performance though Zouma's quality in defence will need looking at if it does not improve and we need Abraham to improve his physical strength. Not sure we had our best 11, where was Willian and Kante was just coming back from injury. Expect better results soon.

It was definitely outside the box, but should at the very least have been a direct free kick in a very dangerous area, and a yellow card for the golden boy Maguire.

Its not me that thinks it wasnt a foul, i think Taylor made the wrong call, but VAR cant overrule him when he waved to Abraham to get up.
