Kai Havertz

Featured Replies

I reckon he plays in another top euro league, where he has a lot of time on the ball, he will look the part. But it’s his third season in England now and still hasn’t adapted to the pace of the game, so slow, easy to knock off the ball and wanting one touch too many. Bad statement from potter to reward that performance by keeping him on and subbing three others instead. Broja wasn’t perfect by any means but at least he posed a threat.

when he did finally go off, auba did more in his 10 minute cameo than Havertz did from the start.

Why is he regularly picked but Ziyech is not?

Seriously what is the difference between them? Both attacking players, both pull off the very rare moment of class, both don't put a shift in, both cannot defend, both sulk, both are left footed, both lose the ball often, both often misplace their passes, both run straight in to opponents. Only difference I see is Havertz is decent in the air.

That alone should not see one banished from the side and the other be a key player. Is it just that header verses Wolves that made Potter decide he is the man?

Playing him is like starting with 10 men.

Becuz Ziyech has made clear he doesn't want to be here. No one else was flying to Amsterdam right after a match to get a move elsewhere.

But Kai has mostly been awful. He doesn't offer anything dynamic. Invisible much of the time.

Kai is playing like someone who does not want to be here.

Initially when we bought him i was delighted. Here was a young player with huge potential that reminded me of KAKA. Sometimes he shows that potential but is a rarity. I still believe there is a quality player in there but perhaps we will not see that at Chelsea.

If someone offered 60m for him I’d take it. I’ve had enough of him, IMO he’s had long enough to really make an impact and he hasn’t really done that. I thought his purple patch last season was the beginning but looks like another false dawn.

Time to stop wasting our time and replace him.

It's ridiculous how many people bought into the ridiculous notion Tuchel was holding our attacking players back.

When the same attacking players were just as poor under Frank and have literally never played well at the highest level (the Premier league)

They're mostly just not very talented unfortunately, Havertz falls into the untalented group.

I've never known an attacking player be labeled a generational talent while being a poor finisher, having no creativity and not being able to dribble past anyone.

He looks silky because of his body language and style of play but in terms of actually showing supreme technique or a skillset to trouble defenders he really hasn't shown much at all here.

I think this is incredibly harsh. You don't score 20 goals a season back to back with no talent and have the likes of Madrid and Bayern after you.

He shows what he's capable of every time he plays for Germany.

Sadly i just think the Prem is too intense for him. Not done nearly enough for Chelsea to warrant staying at the club this summer.

For me I think he’s the biggest disappointment as a signing. Players like Pulisic and Werner  I wasnt particularly fussed on from the start, thought they both had weaknesses. Havertz I thought the real deal and when his performances weren’t always up to scratch I put it down to age, inexperience, Covid, new league, homesick, anything but realising that maybe he’s not that good.

I think the time for excuses has long since passed, no doubt he’ll score some neat little header next game and Ill think that’s him on the up but really it’s probably time to depart. Hope he has a decent WC and maybe we’ll get a good fee.

The problem with Havertz is that sometimes, we need him to boot the ball hard but he always wants to pass or shoot it delicately. He’s got to pick his moments better.

You know I used to think that.

Which is why I always gave Havertz the benefit of the doubt despite him looking rather poor from day 1.

But honestly I just don't see the talent in him,  it isn't like a Werner situation were the league doesn't suit him but he's got clear strengths or even a Ziyech situation where he has a great left football but is too weak to be able to use it in the Premier league.

I don't see what Havertz is good at, I'd actually say he's adapted to the pace of the league well,  he's languid at times but he's a sh*t house, he's physical enough and he puts himself about fine.

It's the quality he lacks,  he creates nothing even when given time and space,  he can't finish his dinner when in clear space (which obviously isn't a league specific issue) and he lacks the pace and dribbling skills to actually trouble pretty much any defender.

International football is of a terrible standard, he might excel for Germany, he might even excel next to 10 world class players at Bayern against Nurnburg plumbers.

But I don't see him blossoming into the world class player we thought we were signing I just don't see the fundamentals in his game.

Every time he scores I always think this is the moment he pushes on, but then anonymous for games to come. West Ham this year, Burnley last year come to mind.

I don’t think we play a system that really plays to his strengths, which imo is playing off a striker.

Just think he should do more, but unsure how much longer we can persist.
