Not sure anyone really get better in term of performance except kova.

Mount and CHO has been very good but they were good under Lamp.

The rest are pretty much the same. Kova get  better but reexe who has been very good lose his place.

We have players like Werner and Pulisic who are not scoring. They are the players we need for that role. Kovacic isn't scoring anytime soon. We also need goals from Mount. For everything he does his final ball or shot is not up the par either. He needs to relax more in those situations.

So far Tuchel have opted to take control of the ball through flanks. We have tons of space even in deep positions especially against Spurs and we made nothing of it. There were couple of times we broke through the middle with Mount and Kovacic and made nothing of those situations. If you are in form you score those 8/10 times.

Good thing is we are winning games. Goals will come. Tuchel is doing all the right things with a shell-shocked side.

Maybe the players are better or worse but the team looks a lot more purposeful now. The midfield is humming nicely, cho as a wing back is excellent, like Moses on steroids. Chilwell has lost his place and it hasn’t hurt. Werner is far better than Tammy or Giroud to our style of play. Obviously lack of goals is a killer but his pressing  in defence all game long and his mobility make the team click. I will be interested to see how we go against a team with a high block. Against a low block we may not be scoring but neither are the oppositions. And we will score, but sooner would be better.

Think he is doing well ofc. Too early to really tell. Throwing in more defenders obv makes us defensively better but attack will take longer to get up to speed

This i it really, were playing with more energy as expected when a new manager comes in but the same weaknesses are all still there. We barely created a thing last in the last 3 games, last night we relied on putting in loads of crosses (something Lampard got hammered for incidentally), played loads of nothing, safe passes with loads of possession. Yet could easily have drew or lost last night as we sat back further and further and let Spurs back in the game.

Chance creation - It’s getting better each game though and it’s something that Tuchel said he’s working on. The most important thing is that we‘re getting results which is vital if we’re going to get top 4.

I`m not sure it is, we havent really created many clear chances the past 3 matches, last night was loads of crossing, only time we got behind them was later on in the 1st half when spurs came out to a bit more. This isnt a criticism of Tuchel as such, he is obviously concentrating on keeping the ball and defensive solidity/recovery which is the right thing to do.

Think you are being a littlebit harsh there. We hammered Burnley, scored twice and could have had 3-4 more.

Yesterday was a tough game and I think Tuchel did very well considering he's barely been here a week. Until Kovacic had to come off we were in complete control really.

Tuchel is missing Havertz - a great tactical decision to play CHO along with Mount in a more free role behind Werner as they move a lot without the ball into channels and make a lot of opportunities to get a pass in good areas.

James and CHO are good together on that side - Alonso needs more work with Kovacic.

Pulisic needs to improve.

Havertz would certainly bring a big body and threat inside the box but sitting in the middle in a congested side Mount is much more mobile to make the quick turns. Havertz would have been brilliant in both attacks where Mount and Kovacic made their bursting runs through the middle against Spurs. He is excellent in giving a silky pass in fast pace.

It looks like Tuchel has his number 10's for different oppositions in Kai and Mason.

I agree with you, I like the fact that we seem to play more like a team now, and we dominate games, but yesterday we put in a lot of crosses, we played mostly through our right wing and the couple of times we went through the middle, we did not end up scoring. Defensively we are more solid than the last 4-6 weeks, but we were bloody solid at the beginning of the season under Lampard and playing a back 4. What happened there, we'll never know, but good to see that the players are giving their all again. But I still see some phases of our game were players are all over the place, last night we could see Alonso pressing on the right side of the pitch and no cover on the left flank, or some pressing with no purpose or organisation leaving plenty of spaces down the middle (even the pundits mentioned this at half time indicating that Spuds were not taking advantage of this because they seemed to constrained to play safe, now, where have I heard this before...). So plenty of positives here, but still some issues to solve.

An interesting clip showing Tuchel's philosophy in terms of "splitting" the team so there is always enough cover defensively when we attack. Remember he talked about that at PSG that he always wants either 4 or 5 players behind the ball to defend the counter-attack from the opposition.

When you see Mount and Kova, in shooting Range, we should just Reflect on how f**king good Lamps and Gerrard were at converting shooting opportunities, I’m sure on the Training ground they are the biz.....

Can't wait to see Mount - Kai duo in the final third, I think they complete each other really well. Mount with his work rate and press and Kai with his vision and finishing.

At some point we should see a switch from the 3-4-2-1 into a dynamic formation with 4 in the backline.

This video doesn't show it but when we lost the ball after a few corners we managed to quickly get it back, Kovacic stayed at the center of the pitch and CHO tracked back a few times and helped out as well.

I think that we have been playing perfect football with Tuchel so far, some people will still complain about the last 15 minutes against Spurs you can't expect us to dominate for 90minutes a game in a derby with a new manager that has been here for less than a month. We made Wolves, Burnley and Spurs look like Championship teams.

Another nice sequence of play from yesterday. Interesting how you can see some similarities with all three managers that came before him.

So how long is this new manager bounce supposed to last? Just making sure how long this will be used against Tuchel. Not directing towards you in particular just seen a lot of comments of this nature last week.

We did improve on 2 main weaknesses in the last 3 games. One is that the gap between our defence and midfield which was as wide as the ocean under Lampard (most of the time) is much tighter now and our transitioning has improved. Secondly our pressing is resulting in dispossessing the opponents more often and comes across as more cohesive compared to Lampard's implementation. Even though it's not a regular feature yet I saw glimpses of us trying to play the down the middle in that 1st half and just playing more forward passes in general.

We need to improve in attack however. Looking at the line-up last night, aside from a misfiring Werner and CHO I couldn't see where the goals would come from and it turned out to be right. I'd like to see a formation and lineup which accomodates the likes of Pulisic alongside Werner, CHO and our other out of form attackers. Too many defensively minded players on the pitch last night.

Problem Tuchel has got going forward is how does he incorporate the attacking players recently bought?

Three games in and Pulisic, Havertz and Ziyech have barely played so far...

Does 3-4-3 particularly suit those players?

Its pretty obvious that the players are putting in a lot more into the games than they were a few weeks ago, thats unarguable surely? This happens with a new manager, players need to fight for a place (if they want to stay). Now I hope this stays for as long as Tuchel is here, but empirical evidence shows that just doesnt happen with us.

I agree. The players typically perform better after the appointment a new manager. I was just pointing out whether any positives in our play will be attributed to this and Tuchel's work being downplayed. I guess we will find out with time.

Maybe we should approach Frank to take some shooting practice with them, part time of coarse. Worth a call to see if he's available.

I think he has established a good foundation to build upon and I am hoping moving forward we can utilize the wing back system but also work towards a standard back 4 which would allow an additional offensive player.

The problem with our squad is that defensively we have a squad more suitable to a wing back system and offensively our personnel is suited to 3 players behind a Centre forward which lends itself to a 4-2-3-1. Against the likes Burnley, West Brom, Sheffield, Spurs and Newcastle I don't think we necessarily need 3 CB's, we can afford to lose 1 CB and opt to have either Kai playing as a false 9 or alternatively go with a genuine center forward in Tammy/Giroud.

That is the next level of evolution in the squad I would like to see from Tuchel.

It doesn't always. Infact I'd say our last manager appointed mid season that got a proper new manager bounce in the league was Hiddink 1.0 (while Robbie rallied us in the cups the performances and results in the league remained pretty much in line with what we saw under AVB).

Actually it does fit their profile, the issue is their form is woeful. To put it nicely

It's bound to happen at some point this season I think. Whenever T.Silva is back Tuchel should try something like 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-1-1/4-4-2 but my guess is that for our next game there won't be that much of a change.
