Official Thomas Tuchel *Now Sacked*

Featured Replies

From what we have seen on the field there seems to be total disharmony in the squad. I don't see how Tuchel turns this around. It feels like when and not if he is fired. Roman would have shown him the door at the end of last season. Hard to know how long he has under the new owners, but they must be worried after the massive spending this summer.

To the people suggesting we fire him, who do we bring in if we do? It's just going to be the same cycle of a new manager coming in, getting us to the champions league, the club spending another 200mil on a squad and then rinse and repeat. How about we actually stick with a manger for a change?

Under Frank our defense never really looked great, but at our best under him we were decent going forward. It was when our attacking play also struggled that he was shown the door. Conversely under Tuchel our attacking play has never been convincing, but he did get our defense looking very good. Now however we do not convince in any area of the pitch...

Would we actually have any other senior staff left (other than Boehly) if Tuchel were to go? From what I can tell as well as being first-team manager, Tuchel is also vice-president, chief scout and director of football.

Reminds me of a Football Manager save I had once with some tinpot side or other; the only other member of staff I had besides myself was my assistant manager, who was also the only coach, and the backup goalkeeper. God bless you Jörg Stiel.

He has been around for almost two years now and the game looks we worse and worse.

It is all about balance. You can games with attacking, titles with defending. Granted we have neither ATM.

It's definitely growing harder to see how he turns this around. He will be in trouble soon. I don't like the hiring and firing method because we need stability. Also, who the hell is out there? There are no top coaches out there. Boehly cannot be happy right now. The results and style needs to pick up.

Football is just getting worse and worse. No way should we be losing this game. I don't even see what Tuchel is trying to do with this team. Change of players/system and still the same dross. No improvement. Players look like they haven't been coached. All over the place. We should be winning this with ease and now we have lost to the worst team in the group on paper.

But that still doesn't answer who we bring in. Unless people want Brendan Rogers as a manger, firing Tuchel is a bad idea

I would be surprised if Poch's name isn't going around in the inevitable meeting Bohely and the other investors are having after this sh*t show.

I generally prefer giving managers time, and it makes sense given the amount that Tuchel was just backed. I doubt he would be fired before the break for the World Cup, but it probably depends how far the owners are prepared to let things slide before they make a decision. Do they accept this could be a forgettable season of midtable while we rebuild? Perhaps if they can see a bigger strategy and evidence of progress. But what if things get worse than that? This season reminds me more of Jose's last few months, and I remember Roman reluctantly stepped in then once we had fallen into the relegation zone.

Poch who was essentially pressured out of PSG because his style of football was atrocious with the likes of Messi, Mbappe and Neymar in his arsenal?

Sounds like a fantastic idea.

Replacing Tuchel with Poch would be akin to us replacing Conte with Sarri IMO. Someone who has actually won multiple trophies for someone who just has a resume of playing 'good football'.

If he can't turn this around in 3 games then Tuchel needs to either change his backroom or walk.

Pathetic can't even score a goal then conceded a pathetic one

That's the trouble with football nowadays and the mindset of the modern supporter.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not over the moon with our performances and results and TT is quite rightly being questioned. But you just can't go sacking one coach and appointing another every time the team goes on a bad run. If we slip down the table and don't get out of our CL group, then yes, call for a change, but lets stop all the crying and have a bit more patience FFS.

Played very good football with Tottenham though.

With that beig said with our current set of ageing injured midfielders I can't see any manager getting us to play beautiful football

Stick with a manager who can’t get a single player in the squad to consistently look good? You can’t just stick with a manager in the hope they come good - is that not what everyone said about Frank? At least we had players who continually performed there.

What we desperately need is a sporting director who will deal with transfer targets and choose a philosophy of play so that the coaching change doesn’t impact the overall plan.

The football under Tuchel in the last 10-12 months has been awful. His record in the league and particularly at home is not good. Without his cup management he’s not impressed that much IMO so if we lose the cup runs, we’re in big trouble.

Sarri is looking pretty good right now.

Top manager.

I swear that man gets so much disrespect because he's so unlikeable and looks like a sleazy uncle but he had us extremely well drilled and has performed well consistently at all his clubs.

I'm not going to put anything against a manager failing at the poisoned chalice that is PSG.

Ancelotti failed there and literally just won the CL.

The problem with this is that where will they draw the line? If it’s a rebuild we’re in, missing out on CL football would be massive - we lost out on targets this year to Barca etc. that would only likely get worse if we don’t have the offer of CL football!
