February 20, 20215 yr We massively miss some creativity in the middle, Mount and Kante are a lot of great industry, but the supply line is devoid..

I doubt many CFs would do better than him with this lack of build-up play and service into the penalty box. Werner on the other hand does get the ball quite frequently but almost always immediately loses it because of his horrible first touch and passing. Werner gets touches due to movement and searching for the ball. Tammy doesn’t get touched because he does neither of those things.

The attacking football is dreadful, our players are taking the safe pass constantly, for whatever reason rather than take a risk, we have posession for no reason other than to keep the ball. Its tedious, ots garbage and it's open to what's happened in that half. The only difference today to the other matches since Tuchel got here is the opposition have scored from there chance, the other teams didn't. Results are papering over the same chasm sized cracks we had under lampard. Totally agreed. We have played garbage opposition since Tuchel came in and we will get pumped by Atletico at this rate. I hope Tuchel makes changes at half time but we could do with about 5 subs. Lampard would have waited until the 75th minute to make his subs. Let's hope we turn it around. I don't buy Joe Cole's assessment that we've dominated. If a team comes in and plans to let you have the ball and we do exactly that and don't create any clear chances then it's Southampton that have in fact dominated.

Much higher tempo with Kante in the middle and some very, very good build up play. Get to the final third and that's where ended. Poor touches from Werner, no hold up play at all from Abraham. h If Tammy can't learn to be stronger on the ball and improve in the air he won't make a top striker. Couldn’t agree more. Too much negativity in general and unfortunately the result is fuelling all sorts of biases, whether it’s Tuchel or how Kante and Kova can’t play together... Alonso puts that chance early on away and complexion of game changes completely
February 20, 20215 yr Alonso has been mediocre. Can't defend, can't cross....he has nothing to offer besides his occasional goals (which btw was some pretty damn good goals). He's not a full 90 min starter. Frank was right to drop him.
February 20, 20215 yr Good. CHO on. At least Tuchel is willing to make change when things going wrong.
February 20, 20215 yr Here's hoping if Alonso stays quiet we can move Callum to the left and get Ziyech on too
February 20, 20215 yr We play safe, tedious football. We create so little that our opponents always know they are in the hunt. Nothing has changed really since Tuchel has taken over. It's not being negative, it's just how I see it. I'm interested to see how he deals with this.

I don't doubt that it would have been a grind and the performances probably wouldn't have been good, but I don't see any great improvement under Tuchel. The performances has been w**k and nothing to get excited about so far. Yes theres room for improvement in attacking play to say the least but in the first 2/3rds the difference is huge. We're atleast getting the basics right even when we're not playing well (like not letting an opposition header in their final third turn into a ball through on goal).
February 20, 20215 yr Why is James not playing Werner in there. That's why we bought him and no one ever looks to put him through on goal. Edited February 20, 20215 yr by Dr Gonzo

Got a couple of goals from defenders to mask the persistent attack issues,

How can the only team to have a shot on target inside the opposition box be lucky to be leading. This is such bollox........again He was distracted texting me, he likes peach crumble. 4 minutes ago, Munkworth said: I feel you should be elaborating on the cat crisis. My little sh*t stole the premium viewing position in front of the telly I had my prematch wee. Cat practically screaming, she wanted to nap in the dryer (one of her favourite spots), but there was laundry in the dryer. So to stop the cat's screaming I had to empty the dryer, lift cat into it, and hang out the laundry. Very interesting and exciting

Well I think the most noticeable thing is our tempo and energy it’s been far improved and I think it’s his brand of football vs manager bounce....I hope
