May 23, 20215 yr 1911 - Chelsea are the first side since Everton in 1910-11 to finish in the top four in the English top-flight despite having no player reach double-figures in the league that season. Unusual.

May 23, 20215 yr The only one that I can think of is Lewis Dunk (Brighton), a Chelsea fan who reverred JT. We should have signed him 2 or 3 years ago.
May 23, 20215 yr 242 - Leicester ended more days in the Premier League’s top four than any other side this season and yet failed to finish inside the top four places (242 days). Unlucky.

May 23, 20215 yr I’m obviously not condoning or giving excuses for the sloppy and championship level performances as of late but we have to realise to some degree that . we’re a fairly young/new squad . Changed managers halfway through with some of our players probably quite attached to our previous manager . It was an absolutely unprecedented season chockablock full with no fans or atmospheres to get you to dig deep . Yet we still managed to get two finals and a top four finish (ok I know I’d prefer two cups rather than fixtures and the premier league) I’m conflicted obviously, not the end of the season I wanted and lots of question marks but I’m also deeply proud of the boys incredibly so.
May 23, 20215 yr On that leadership topic, I wonder who we could get to "instantly" solve that problem. Someone similar to Ballack, who was regarded as WC and also the leader of his team & nation. I can see Kane, but he hasn't won anything yet... Who else? Maybe Kessie... Any thoughts?

Yes that is the difference, drogba, lampard, Cech, cole, had the mental strength to carry us over the line when it mattered. sadly we don’t have that at the moment we don’t have a big character
May 23, 20215 yr We limp across the line yet again. big improvement needed. Thought Havertz changed the game with his ability to play in-between the lines. We never look like scoring goals though. Anyway, on we go

We were great team not because they were just great leader, we were great because they were WC players and great leader. What separates world class players from good players is leadership quality. To score when the chips are down to make sure the team wins is a leadership quality, to lead by example. In sports, that's what being a leader means. No idea why you don't get it.

So little different to comparing shots on target to the final score then? It’s the type of “stat” Wenger’s later Arsenal teams would w**k off over. A moral victory to demonstrate footballing superiority - but that, ultimately, counts for nothing.
May 23, 20215 yr I actually feel a little bad for Spurs considering the times we've f**ked them over from winning something or making top four.
