I read somewhere that (alledgedly of course) Conte refused Newcastle because he didn’t want to start at a new club halfway through the season. If - IF - that report is true, it might be a fib because he was waiting for his dream job at Spurs 😄

Maybe so.

Rumours are Conte very much likes Son and sees him playing the role for him Martinez played at Inter. However he would be happy to let Kane go as he wants to be reunited with Romelu, who he has said TT does not know how to use properly.

Cannot see Roman going for that even for the money Kane would go for, unless Lukaku pushes very hard for a move.

Nah, no chance Lukaku want to leave.

And Conte will want Kane to stay, Conte offense really revolve around his no 9. I can see this appointment is to either convince harry to stay or at least get his value back up.

Don't think he wants to be in a relegation battle. Once you have done that once you get a label for it whether you succeed or not

If Newcastle get to be a regular in the top 6 he will take it then.

Could see Newcastle willing to put down 150mill regardless of his poor form.

Conte won't do anything unless they give him a blank Cheque book.

Tuchel is a far better coach.

Never really took to Conte, he was a petulant child in the run up to his sacking.

It will not happen with Levy but I’d imagine Conte would like to see a Lukaku + £10m swop for Kane if it could be done. Think I’d be happy with that one as well.

Being blue I couldn’t say I’m big fan of Kane, more of an admirer.

Really think he would be excellent for us.

Record breaking 95 points and a PL-title with the likes of Moses, Alonso, David Luiz and Cahill in the starting XI week in week out suggest otherwise.

He's demanding in the market but until he gets frustrated and down tools and he can work miracles with almost anyone.

The fact he's shown he can work miracles with limited resources makes his behaviour even more bizzare. Given he was clearly leaving at the end of 17/18 what did he have to lose by just knuckling down?

On another note the way United have dropped the ball here makes me even more grateful to Roman, imagine if we had an owner willing to exploit our (collective) willingness to drop our standards for Jose and Frank?

Conte’s second season was a painful one wasn’t it. That 1-0 defeat against City was worse than the 6-0 under Sarri. At least Sarri had a go and tried to attack them. Conte just gave up and threw his toys out of the pram.

I can only assume Conte is chasing more compensation and an easy pay day from Spurs because him going there just doesn’t make sense. Even his ability as a coach can’t turn that lot into a better team than Liverpool, Hopefully ourselves - don’t want to jinx it 😀)and city

It was Jose’s 2004-5 side that set the 95 point record. Conte got most wins - 30 - which was still remarkable. City beat both the following season sadly

You got to be joking.

That 6-0 defeat was truly idiotic, very close to pool vs united performance

Why do you want Kane over Lukaku for our team?

I’m happy enough that we got Lukaku in the summer but if we could have got Kane for similar money I would have preferred Kane. Kane is proven over many seasons in the EPL as a top CF and I’d still choose him over Lukaku.

Maybe you think Lulaku a better player?

So what has changed? Why would Conte want the job now when he turned it down in the summer? Is he that desperate for a job now that he will take on anything?

Excellent question, and one that makes me wonder if Levy would not let Kane go when Conte wanted Lukaku and now he is willing too.

Remember what happened when we gave Conte Morata instead of Lukaku....

I don’t see Conte going there and if he does he won’t be there long. If he had issues with Marina and our clubs transfer policy it’ll do his nut working for Levy! I’d kind of like to see the madness unfold myself, it’ll be hilarious.

I don't think they sack Nuno without confidence of landing Conte, my guess is that they have fully hit the panic button and will put as much as they can into the January budget to entice him.

I'm guessing he was holding out for the Man Utd job but as that isn't happening he's had to lower himself to Spurs.

It looks like it's happening - he'll improve them but the ceiling with Spurs is a lot lower than with Man Utd. Makes him going there slightly easier to bear.

Ole is simply a genius, he beat spurs 3-0 which force spurs to fire nuno and hire Conte, arguably the biggest threat for his job.

He even did it copying Conte’s system

Educated guess, Spurs fans making it clear they're approaching the end of their tether with Levy on Saturday's game has triggered him to panic and meet Conte half way (possibly further).

I know you're not morally suppose to want your team to lose even if it's better in the long run but I bet there's many a United fan wishing they lost this one now.

Conte's negotiating strength for a start,

I bet his sallary demands have gone up for a start.

Wouldn't rule out that he's now allowed to bring in as many coaching staff as he wants and has certain promises of a transfer budget for the next two transfer windows.
