I know you're not morally suppose to want your team to lose even if it's better in the long run but I bet there's many a United fan wishing they lost this one now. I think this could be exactly what has happened, they are trying to make a move after knowing that Conte was open to take over Man United. And it goes to show just how desperate Spurs are but at the same time in a "Levy-way", they really wish to become a top 4 team again but the only thing they are willing to do is to find a manager that can work miracles for them, spending on good players is still not a thing in their eyes, they just want to win the lottery. They got lucky with Poch because their initial ambitions weren't that high and he got some years to build a squad but then after failing to win anything and after losing the CL final they started that super delusion in which they actually believed that they really are a big team that could do even better. Now after some years they would be over the moon if they could get a manager that would make them a top 4 team again. I have no doubt that there are Man United fans that are thinking "yes we won spurs, but at what cost?" LOL
November 2, 20214 yr Sounds like it was not his own wages that put Conte off, it was control over his backroom team and the funds he wanted to raid Inter. He apparently is getting 150mill to spend in January, and while he originally wanted Lukaku he has shifted his focus to more attainable goals. De Vijs, Bellera and Martinez the common names up. Although he apparently has also spoken to Rudiger in an effort to offer him a good deal to stay in London and join them.

Remember what happened when we gave Conte Morata instead of Lukaku.... I am not sure Conte will complain of having Kane
November 2, 20214 yr Ole really was playing 5D chess. He won, pushed Totspud into selling Nuno and eliminating a potential threat to the job in one fell swoop. I give Conte 5 months before having a meltdown. That prick
November 2, 20214 yr Why is the media raving about United beating Spurs at the weekend? Don’t they realise Spurs were totally awful.

I'd be interested to know how a Europa conference team with a new stadium has that much to spend. Perhaps they'll sh*tcan Kane if he doesn't buck his ideas up.

November 2, 20214 yr Conte has requested £237m worth of transfers apparently. I wonder what clauses Conte had demanded in his contract. With Spurs being desperate, he’s probably milked them. Good luck with that Antonio.. Edited November 2, 20214 yr by JM7

November 2, 20214 yr Hope Conte fails miserably and is causing Boardroom wars by the summer. Champions of Europe, you'll never be that as manager.
November 2, 20214 yr What is it with our old managers whoring themselves out at other Prem clubs. Conte to United I could probably see, it’s a big club, they have big players and drive, not that sh*thouse tinpot team in North London!
November 2, 20214 yr I'm genuinely sad, Conte was our lion he should have never taken this job. The PL is getting pretty crowded with top managers, specially once OGS gets sacked we'll have 1 more...
November 2, 20214 yr I give him till Christmas 2022 before he quits or is sacked. When he realises that Levy is nothing but a slap-headed bean-counter, he’ll leave.

He went to his beloved Juve's most hated rivals, he was never going to think twice of doing likewise to us.
November 2, 20214 yr Loved Conte when he was with us, so this is disappointing. Great manager, but I don't see him working well with Levy.

Given how bitterly his time ended with us, and given Jose, a much bigger Chelsea legend than Conte imo, already went to both United and Spurs, I am not surprised Conte went there. So long as Spurs promised him what he wanted, he will believe he can deliver success. He is a top coach, but I don't believe he can take them and finish above all 3 of us, Pool and City. Add to thar United once they get a decent manager.

November 2, 20214 yr Anyone else find it odd that Conte took the Spurs job? He's a really successful manager did well at Juve, Chelsea, Inter and even the Italian national side. So what's in it for him to take on the Spurs job? A side that's on the decline and no trophy in over a decade and is behind at least 4 other teams in terms of spending power and player quality. What does success actually look like for a manager of his ability if he stayed for the 18 months of his contract?

It is also worth remembering Inter we're the best of the rest to take advantage when Pirlo tanked Juve. They spent a fair bit bringing in Lukaku and Hakimi and others for Conte, and as soon as they said they had to reign it in and sell Hakimi Conte quit. Conte won't be content with one spending spree, he will want to and need to keep spending to be happy and keep them on the up. For a while though we will see them improve.
