2 things...

1. Michael Oliver is a coward, everyone saw it was a clear red card but he wants until VAR gives the decision...w**ker

2. Jourinho shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the penalty spot again...it's Mount's role now

Easy there with the criticism.. he has been amazing for us in a lot of games .. especially during the UCL run..most of us are criticising his limitations and impact on team but let’s not disrespect a player like that.

Listen if half the forum thinks alonso and azpi should take their boots with them out the door, So can Jorgs! We are crying out for creativity not a passing sideways pirlo, Rudi also was rubbish until last couple seasons, IF we do have a nice war chest even our scouts should be able to do better!

With kante in the sunset of his career we really need to hope whoever buys the club they get stuck in during the summer and bring in some heavyweights and integrate our homegrown and academy lads in..

Second half we did I think it was obvious. How many times we got the ball in the box in the second half, do you honestly believe that when Man City plays like this and eventually scores that their fans complain about them having no intensity? The goal was coming it's just unlucky that Werner didn't score before getting off and Kante had his shot blocked too.

I just think it's two different things to complain about but fact is we dominated the game and deserved the win.

I watched City yesterday, and they moved the ball with way more intensity and purpose than we did at any point today. Clever movement, the ball quickly moved out to the wings, clean passes and touches, everything we lacked today.

You say the goal was coming, but that is bollocks. We were sh*te for 60 minutes, we created nothing. We put a bit of pressure on them after the hour and had a few half chances from a few ricochets, but we only created one really good chance all game and that came after their red card.

I agree with all of the above just don’t think we should abuse our own players and call them names .. especially when they have won so much with us and contributed to the wins.

My 2 cents.

Werner looks better lately than ever before at Chelsea. He seems to be moving with more purpose, and his touch even seems better (which has been a problem IMO). Yes, he misses sitters now and again, but he doesn’t seem to be struggling in that department the way he has in the past.

Jorginho has always been a pass back first guy, and defense/possession first coaches (like TT) are cool with that. I agree that he kills attacks at time. As for the penalty, he looked either nervous or rusty. The entire hop motion of his was very rushed. When was the last time he took a consequential penalty?

I am probably in the minority here, but if a manager can’t find a way to use Lukaku productively, that’s on him IMO.

Pulisic kept his cool on that weak foot finish. Chelsea are fortunate to have a sub who is quick and predatory (usually) around the six yard box. It will be interesting in the off season to see how Pulisic reacts to (what appears to be) a bench role. On the one hand, he seems ambitious to play more; on the other, he loves Chelsea and winning trophies.

Good to see a Rudiger-less back line play so well.  TT knows defense, and they say that defense wins championships. Maybe he needs to hire an offensive big brain as an assistant.

I have seen many games of Man City where they just endlessly pass and then win in the second half.

In the second half Kante had a shot blocked that got deflected just around the box, Werner had 2 shots blocked inside the box and missed the target from close range then had another shot that was saved from close range as well, Mount had a few shots going wide... The ball was going in the opposition box much more often than in the first half and then the penalty came and then the goal. West Ham had nothing to search for in this game, the red card was deserved as well. You give so much credit to West Ham that did nothing whole game.

Spot on - The way teams like city or Scousers pass the ball is far far quicker than us. They move the ball quickly, which in turn, pulls the deep sitting teams out of position.

Generally speaking we do play the same sort of way as city - but the different is that we play as if on slow mo. Where city players is take 1 or 2 touches, ours will take 3 or 4. General lack of intensity and speed of thought/passing.

The other thing that sets us apart from city and Liverpool is the risk taking. City for example are happy to play possession,  but then at times they also keep teams on their toes by also playing probing balls forward. Ours by comparison generally take the safe, easy, backwards/sideways option every time.

Nonsense. The same man that won the euros and ucl last season.

He is just out of form due to being over played. He will come good and be fresh next season since he won't have to play in the world cup

Sorry, but doesn’t offer enough for me. The sideways play is a product of his game. Sure it takes others, but his style is just too slow for me.
we are so much more dynamic with Kovacic. When Gallagher returns, I’d be ok keeping Jorginho as 4th choice between combinations of Kova, Kante and Gallagher.
but he’s too expensive for 4th choice and for me just doesn’t offer enough. Agree on his medals and made that comment in his thread, but have seen enough to move on.

You won't find another midfielder in our squad that has made more progressive passes than Jorginho this season. But sure keep saying that it's all sideway play...

Had we played properly against Brentford and the Arse and won. We would have only needed 1 more win.

Opportunity lost by way of sh*tty performance

I wasn’t disputing that. I was disputing your statement.

To be honest, it was supposed to be very much tongue in cheek.

Being serious, it’s the performances that worry a lot more than the results of recent.

I’m not sure measuring progressive passes against the rest of our midfield is a good barometer - case of the tallest midget.

I mean someone that can drive the team forward with a pass (Fabregas) or just an engine (Frank, Essien).  To me, Kova is the best we have.

And he's injured...

less abusive more a statement, nothing personal, should of been more gentlemanly, sorry squire!

Well that game was boring for the most part. What an odd world it is when West Ham rest key players ahead of a European  semi final and Chelsea have no cause to do so...

For the whole game West Ham were night and day different to Arsenal. Arsenal came here looking from the off to win, West Ham had no interest in winning and their focus was all on their game with Frankfurt. I don't blame them for that at all. Win the Europa and they are in the Champions League. Of course you prioritize that.

We struggled to break them down. Kai and Timo had really good movement but could not find a way past Dawson. Thankfully TT got it right with 2 of his 3 subs. The one he did not was Hollywood Hakim, who looked like he was making moves for pictures taken.

For once I can give Lukaku credit. He actually worked hard, chased the man on the ball a few times and won a penalty that crucially got Dawson sent off. Cause if Dawson had stayed on you bet he would have blocked CPs goal.

Thankfully CP is a really good finisher most of the time and took that goal well, also an impeccably placed run no one else made all game. We needed that boost.

Poor game, lackadaisical performance by us. But a good result in the end.

Finally I hope TT sees what I have been saying now about Jorginho. He is broken. Did he not see him after Italy got knocked out of the qualifiers? Did he not hear what he said? The penalty is yet more proof he is broken.

He can give you a steady display in the right situation but don't put him under the pressure of a match winning pen. He has not sorted his head out, that is plain to see. Let Kai and Lukaku be the pen takers please.

Good to see beat the Pikeys. Thought it was going to end up 0-0 especially after Jorginho's poor attempt to replicate Pat Nevin's failed penalty against Man. City all those years ago. Much relief when Pulisic scored from a great cross by Alonso. Crazy celebrations in the ground. Popped into the Atlas pub after the match. Seem to be fewer and fewer decent pubs near the ground.

Now for the Mancs on Thursday night. Will watch that on one TV and the Rangers on another. Need to get in a couple of beers for the matches.

We were crap and have been at home for months…but while admitting I wasn’t there to make a difference, I thought the fans were just as crap to be honest. I get the argument that you need to see the team give something (a hell of a lot more than they did for long periods on Sunday) but there was basically nothing from the crowd until we scored.
I remember when just a few thousand of us were let back in against leeds and Leicester last season and we made a hell of a lot more noise than that. Clearly season ticket holders have got comfy with watching football again and forgotten what a privilege it is to watch a game at the bridge (yes even when we’re sh*t).

Tuchel complained about the lack of atmosphere at home games lately and you have to admit, it’s not been good enough and surely hasn’t helped.
