April 27, 20233 yr Yeah, the only striker we have is sat on the bench. He was poor earlier in the season when he played, but it makes no sense to keep him stuck on the bench ffs. There must be a case of retardation going around at the club because some of the decisions are bemusing.
May 2, 20233 yr I think he will play against Arsenal....lets hope he is fired up to get one back at Arteta.
May 2, 20233 yr Ha, ha, ha, ha. Feckin tragic. Arsenal fans are absolutely pissing their pants that we brought him. In fact everyone is pissing their pants that we brought him.
May 2, 20233 yr I’m not going to hold tonight against him. He’s barely played all season and he has bloody Sterling as his support. I don’t think there were much he could have done really.

I thought Higuain was the most over-the-hill, out of his depth striker we would ever sign up, but Aubameyang is surpassing him with some style. Potter was completely right to leave him out. Where he was wrong was not giving Datro-Fofana more pitch time. Yes, he looked young and raw but Christ on a bike he looked so much better than Aubameyang ever has.
May 2, 20233 yr I thought he would be a great signing, to be honest; he had all the assets I would want in a football player: lazy, uncommitted, slow, injury-prone. Where did things go wrong?

Doesn't look threatening whatsoever, but doesn't help when the whole team is low on confidence and doesn't look threatening as a whole anyway.
May 3, 20233 yr Perhaps It’s not all the strikers at fault here. Ever wonderen why they all are failing @ Chelsea. Maybe it’s the system and the setup in the midfield. Auba is a real 9 need to feed him the ball Sterling need atleast 5 chances to score and need the ball to play behind the defence Kai is not a finisher try to lob the ball and nog always in a good position Felix try to much tricks and like to shoot at the keeper they were all good before they came to us ( apart from Felix) playing in their system

Centre forwards sometimes drift in and out of games, the good ones though keep the backline honest, holding the ball up ,making runs, being the first line of defence( Ian Rush for all his goalscoring ability was Liverpool's best defender), generally making a nuisance of themselves with the belief that the ball will fall to them if they gamble. Aubamayengs performance last night had none of this and generally stunk the place out. A total lack of pride in his performance, such a shame as he was a top player, its easy to see why Arteta booted him out the door.

Would have been nice if he actually tried though, you know, move around a bit, show for the ball a bit, battle for the ball a bit. instead of just meandering around, the lazy w**ker.

We used to let them have our rejects - now the tables have turned. Shouldn't have gone anywhere near him. What a f**king mess and Sterling isn't too far behind.
May 3, 20233 yr I said before the game on this thread that I thought he would play, and pointed out that I hoped he was fired up to get one back at Arteta.... ....well, clearly he couldnt give a flying f**k. I don't care if you are a good striker or Fleck levels of useless, the least I expect is a shift and some professional pride. Auba last night showed us all, loud and clear, that he has no fight and no professional pride. I met him in Abu Dhabi in December, and he was top class in coming over and giving my lads his shirt. Unfortunately, he moved quicker coming over to us after the game than he did last night. A real shame he didnt appear to try.
May 17, 20233 yr @axman2526 what is Aubameyang's FFP book value? I'm guessing two bags of mouldy potatoes and an old copy of Razzle.

June 27, 20233 yr I haven't seen any rumours on his departure (or not). Still one more season to go on his contract, right?

Contract set to end in 2024, so best we sell him now and get rid of those awful wages
June 27, 20233 yr I still can't believe Tuchel wanted him. Even worse, I still can't believe we actually signed him! Think we will be very, very lucky to get any type of fee for him at all.

Might as well just release him (if he agrees to it) to save the wages and free up a squad place Edited June 27, 20233 yr by SimonH
