SF post up the different formations Potterlegri has used this season. Might show he is not a tactical one trick pony.

BHA are one team I enjoy watching. Always play attractive football. And him and his scouting team know how to spot talent.

He's the EPL equivalent of Sarri at Napoli but with a better personality and more fashion sense.

and presumably healthier lungs

Would be a great appointment. Despite what some think, playing 5 at the back doesn't always equal negative football and Potter has shown that in his time at Brighton, they play great football with players who aren't exactly that great, our squad is much better and I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do with it.

Of course it's a risk because it's a big step up for him but there isn't exactly a standout candidate available. Poch? Not a bad manager but ex Spurs and didn't exactly set the world on fire with probably the best squad in the world at PSG. Zidane? Only managed Madrid and is probably after the France job.

Funnily enough PSG play 5atb. No one thinks they aren't a positive team.

It's difficult to assess Potter as he has not had a big job and jobs like Chelsea are big.

Also we are playing twice a week now for some time due to the shorter WC season and champions league so no easy test for a new manager.

Brighton scored 19 goals at home last season, that's a relegation level attack. This guy is a more negative manager than Tuchel

They were unlucky. Mbappe and Haaland were injured for most of the season.

I have nothing against Potter. He seems like a good bloke and a good manager.

If we were to hire Potter we would break a cycle of Roman appointments. Potter is hard to compare to our other managers. They were either elite or former blue.

Potter over Poch. I can't stand seeing the face of Poch. He had PSG in his hands and he totally failed. We know what Poch is about but Potter is untested in a big club....I guess Poch was too 🤣. Although I am a bit shocked I wouldn't go on saying Spurs are a big club.

The more I read about this story, the more it feels similar to how Di Matteo was fired. Roman never wanted Di Matteo as a long term manager but kept him out of respect for him winning the CL and the fact that he was a club legend. However, he was waiting for the slightest run of poor form to get rid of him. I feel this was similar with Boehly. Most owners want their own manager and Boehly was probably willing to stay with Tuchel because of what he had done at the club but poor relationships with the players, poor form and apparently poor relationship with Boehly was probably just an excuse to finally get rid of him and finally start with their own manager. As much as I dislike this decision, I don't think this decision is as knee-jerk as I originally thought it was.

This is a weird one. I mean it's a big jump from Brighton to Chelsea. At least Eddie Howe left Bournemouth and went to Newcastle where the expectations are far less to challenge for the title or even make top four. I think I would have preferred Zidane then assessed Potter over the next season or so.  Pochettino has never filled me with much excitement as a potential coach. Problem is, there is nobody else out there as we've been through pretty much every top coach in Europe at this point.

Roman wasn’t plotting with Di Matteo over the summer and signing ‘his’ players though was he?

How is it not knee-jerk when he’s literally spent a whole summer recruiting for/with him, even to the point where we’ve brought in a known trouble maker who Arsenal couldn’t wait to get rid of.

Still wishing all of this was a bad dream and Tuchel is still the Chelsea manager.

I originally had thought the same thing but one of the stories I read said that Tuchel didn't really want to be involved in the buying of players this summer so I'm assuming these are "board signings". Unless all these leaks are PR spin from Boehly's camp. Personally, I just wish Boehly would give the fans some transparency on what the long term vision for the club. Because atm everything seems nebulous.

The only one I want now that Tuchel has gone.

Good football, multiple systems and create a lot of chances. Top manager. If he had a different name with a better coat and came from La Liga, people would rave about him more.

Also a little anecdote. We've played Brighton 3 times under Tuchel and they have outplayed us on every occassion. They should have won both games at the Bridge but a healthy margin as well.

Only concern is how he will do at a big club (with all respect to Brightom whom I like) and managing those ridiculous egos.

Tuchel's 5 at the back didn't always look so negative either. The big difference with Brighton and Chelsea is that teams don't sit back and defend against Brighton like they do against Chelsea. Teams set out to beat Brighton, Potter has no idea what it's like to play against teams that put every man behind the ball and tries to hit you on the break.

It's happening

Depends if they like what they hear in regards to the long term project part.

At the very least if they wanted TT gone have your director of football appointed to have a hand in this.

It would not surprise me at all if whoever comes in for that role does not like whoever we appoint as manager and here we go again.

Sorry, but I fail to see how Potter is an upgrade on Tuchel in any way shape or form.

Has a similar feel to Liverpool appointing Fulham manager Roy Hodgson back in 2010 to me ... a manager with some overseas successes in minor leagues, with a bang average PL record, appointed to run a top club. Didn't work out well for Woy ... let's hope Potter does significantly better if he is indeed appointed !

That's my biggest concern. If there's a long term project in plan then there should be a sporting director involved.

let him just take the whole Brighton organisation with him

It is not an upgrade, I don't think anyone thinks that. But, of those names branded out, it's the one that appears to get more positive opinions. Or at least that's my view. Will he be able to make it? Not sure, he's untested, but he's better option than Pochetino, and Zidane is not a realistic option. Are there other options? Sure, but no other names have been linked with us seriously.
