Oi oi, be fair, I even offered the fellah my condolences, and sincere ones at that!

As for my username, it’s of musical origin, as in Upsetter by Lee Perry & The Upsetters. Decent enough, going on classic tune - and it seemed like a good idea at the time.

What a tune....

Helps that he has a DM in Palhinha, & a 10 in Pereira behind him. The balance is off in a 3-4-3, you are never going to have a perfect mix of creativity & protection playing with a mid 2. The formation needs to be binned, & we need 2-3 new midfielders.

Pep Guardiola on Graham Potter:

“If #Chelsea accept my humble advice, give him time and he will do well. They got good results but the way they play, when I saw the game against Brighton that they lost, I saw many things I remember from his period in Brighton.”

“But he needs time, everybody needs time. No one has success from day one or two, I’ve a lot of admiration for his work.”

“What he did at Brighton was beyond exceptional and I’m pretty sure with time he will do a good job, I don’t have any doubts. He is one of the best managers from my point of view, we have in this league.”

I am not sure formation has impact on take on stats. Willian ability to pick the ball deep and drive forward has always been elite.

Potter

No pre-season

No Kante or Kovacic

James injured

Fofana injured

Chilwell injured.

Doubts over Koulibaly.

I fear the worst with City and Newcastle up next yet hope there is no knee-jerk reaction if results go against us.

Stop making excuses for our god awful attackers.

Helps that hes at Fulham where teams allow them space to attack and dont just sit with 10 men behind the ball.

Willian is also a better dribbler than Mount, Havertz, Auba, Ziyech, and Pulisic.

His last season at Chelsea he was in the top 10 in the whole league for chances created.

I am not sure about chance creation because Willian is awful in final 3rd but dribbling. It is not even close.

Havertz VS Arsenal, cross it to Auba or pull it back to Mount we could go 1-0 up. Havertz messes it up.

Mount VS Brighton overhits a simple pass to Havertz who would of been through on goal.

Plus may more examples.

Things like that aren't a midfield issue.

I’d forgotten this song. I’d always thought you’d got the name from Return of the Django

You weren’t far wrong, in fact I’m sure I’ve had the Return of Django along record label as my profile pic at some stage.

One thing that I don’t think has been mentioned enough is the amount of games we played last season and the knock on effect that will have on a squad. Liverpool have had the same impact and I think we look just as tired. We started earlier due to the Super cup and player over 60 games. I think Liverpool only played 3/4 games more than us (due to CL run). Bound to have an impact.

Here is the one that matters to groups like Clearlake:

Liverpool bought for 330mill, now valued at 5bill after 1 title, 1 CL and a couple of cups in FSGs time of ownership.

Maybe in 10 years they can sell Chelsea for 7bill after 0 titles and 0 CLs. If so, happy investors.

That's just it. Buying Chelsea is like buying a London property for these guys  , PL clubs increase in value regardless , Liverpool's owners are going to make millions despite their relative lack of sucess.

The way we're playing it won't be long before other teams won't have to bother about putting ANYONE behind the ball 😃😃😃😃

For years and years we've put together a squad of weak players, we've got a rocky couple of years ahead to try and fix it, changing managers solves nothing. We need to upgrade in every area of the field

Goalkeeper: Mendy and Kepa aren't good enough for a team going for the league

Defence: Probably our strongest position but we can't rely on Thiago Silva forever and we need a back up for Reece James

Midfield: Kante, Kovacic and Jorginho are all talented players but they're all either over 30 and/or injury prone. RLC is just not good enough. Casadei and Chukwemeka can be brought into the first team to join up with Gallagher and we need to sign a couple more.

Attackers: None of them are good enough, apart from Broja I won't shed a tear if any of the current lot get sold. Luckily we seem to have Nkunku coming in but that's just a start of what we need

Basically, most of our players aren't good enough and need replacing, Potter should be given time to do this.

City game both teams will field weakened teams as it is Carabao cup. While I hope we can stay in all competitions I don't think the result has much bearing on progress elsewhere. Newcastle game we could do with getting a decent result, just so we can enter the World Cup break with our heads up. But either way I think the results after the World Cup break will be more important to Potter as he will have had some time to regroup, hopefully get a few players back from injury, and work with most of his squad for longer at that point.

We're suckering them in. ..then.... BOOM 6 goals per game....hat tricks everywhere, very clever by Potter...

Im very much in the opinion that we need to give him time to build something. Though if we drop away from top 4 positions I dont think he will have that time. We need the full structure in place before we think about changing managers again. The quality of players we have in midfield and attacking positions are not premier league winning quality and our midfield just lacks any sort of creativity and pace.

Only Sterling and Auba have really played consistantly at a high level in the premier league. One is ageing and the other just left one of the best attacking teams in the league so its probably a shock to the system. The world cup will be good for us so Todd can hire the right people to make the right decisions in January, we spent so much money in the summer and we look worse.

Havertz, Mount, Pulisic, Ziyech have been poor for years and in my opinion simply not good enough. I still think Timo Werner had a more impactful career that 3 out of 4 of those players.

This team is one of the least interesting teams we've had in a long time. We kinda lost that Mourinho idenity and I miss having a spine with the likes of Drogba, Costa, Fabregas, Terry, Lampard. Big players who don't hide and I'd argue we've been free falling ever since Contes first season and Tuchel winning the CL was just a blip.

As much as it's great to have had Lampard come in and bring through a few youngsters because of the transfer ban but that and Hazard leaving dropped us down a level and we haven't recovered since because we have been chasing potential instead of proven quality.

Potter has a hard task on his hands because he's got alot of expensive 'talent' to get the best out of but sadly I dont think there's alot more you can get out of it. The best you can do is improve around it.

I used to believe that it was a myth that its a risk to sign quality players from different leagues because they are not premier league proven. After our business over the past few years I changed my mind...

Still find his positive praise for us and Sarri in 2019 funny to this day, whopped 6-0.. pure humiliation on a biblical scale.. the next day saying how lucky we are to have Sarri etc.

And this is outside of the fact Sarri may have worked out if time was given since he’s doing great at Lazio but it’s just funny the way Pep goes about it, will take any praise form him with a pinch of salt.

He's the guy that said Bielsa was a guru and one of the best managers in England at that time
