Graham Potter (Now Sacked ) - *Official* New (Now Old) Chelsea Manager

Featured Replies

If the players were blindsided which I highly doubt then they were happy with mediocrity.

I suspect there was relief and now will be putting on a show for whoever is the new manager

I have to say my initial thoughts are a bit of sadness as it always has been when we’ve sacked a manager.

I know what you mean but I don't have any joyful moments I can remember from his tenure.

Apart from qualifying for the QF of champions league what other moments bring a smile to my face or give me genuine happiness? That type of remember something and a smile appears on your face type of feeling.

It means that unlike the press would have you believe, the club wrote a severance term into the contract.

I've said it for a long time, no chance we were ever going to need to pay the full amount.

Begs the question why we held on to him for so long then, the seasons pretty much over now aside from the CL

Interim coach - Bruno Saltor. Seems we will wait till the end of the season to get a new gaffer.

Sensible to. If they have learned anything from his appointment it should be not to rush into an appointment.

I say it once again I am all for stability and giving a manager time but it has to be a manager worth his salt.

A club like us shouldn't be a trial run for aspiring title winners. We should be drafting in "Made men" in the game to elevate us and with what Boehly has shown he is ready to do in terms of market activity, all the best managers will be happy to compete against themselves for a chance at the job.

Especially when they see the patience and time afforded to a man that was clearly not up to it.

I think those revelling in potters demise need to look at the bigger picture

I think Bohley out should be more appropriate - new owners are clueless, let’s hope they a quick learners

The entire summer was a joke from them. Instead of taking a step back and learning, they went in all guns blazing, spending ridiculous money on mid players, chasing after lost causes. It just made them and the club look stupid. Sacking Tuchel and replacing him with Potter at the end was the worst ending to what was a terrible summer for the club. I don't know who was advising them during that period or if it was just them going on their own arrogance, but it really hurt the club, destroyed our season and now we have to pick ourselves back up all over again and pray we can get back on track.

What this does is reset everything once again. Just 7 months ago we did the last reset.

We won't reach CL so this season is already almost certainly done. An amazing CL run would save us but I don't see it.

To be fair this is the sacking I'd back. Sarri, Frank and Conte all had their bad moments but you'd know how they'd set-up, how their Chelsea team would play. You can atleast see they were trying something

I never ever got this feeling from Potter. He often looked clueless. We had no clear way of playing our football. This job just looked to big for him and he was completely out of depth.

Christopher Vivell is pushing for Nagelsmann. (@Santi_J_FM) #CFC

No surprise there with their Red Bull Leipzig connection. Apparently Bayern still have Nagelsmann under contract and would require compensation so that may be an issue in the short term. we may well complete the season with Bruno.

I like the theory that there was a certain trigger that's now been met.

I long thought there would be a trigger that was activated if we went out of the CL.

It may even be that that is the case, and they've had a conversation with him to say we will let you go today for x layoff or we can let you have the rest of the season and you'll get significantly less unless you win the CL.

But all hypotheticals. I'm worried about Nagelsmann. But I'm also worried about every single name that gets linked with us.

If they are capable of " putting on a show" they should be doing it for us fans , not as a treat for a new manager

In all honesty, I hope we don't get Pochettino nor Conte.

I saw somewhere the chant for Nagelsmann:

’the sh*t from spurs, they bought his flight,

but nagelsmann, he saw the light,

he got a call from todd boehly,

where he’s going to win the champions league trophy’

I'm not really one to celebrate sackings, I'd say I feel relieved more than anything. Now lets bring in a manager that can turn this squad into a top 4 team in 2 seasons. That has to be the aim 1st. None if these 6 year contracts, talking about legacies when we havent even built foundations.

2 year contract, with very clear targets, if its looking good after a year or so, then we look beyond that.

No excuse for any manager to not be competing for top 4, even if they ultimately miss out and finish just outside in their 1st season, I would be okay with that if the football is entertaining at least.

1st step in the right direction. Potter is a good coach, and a nice guy, but he isnt at our level, and he never got the club.

To anyone that follows German football, what do you guys think of Nagelsmann?

The best way to describe him is a mix of Tuchel and Klopp in terms of playing style and man management or as some on here would describe "hipster manager"

Doesn’t Nagelsmann also have a bizarre fascination with playing no wingers or STs and just flooding the pitch with attacking mids?

All I hear is worrying things.

I think we are going the Nagelsmann route...he is a bit of a weirdo...and will be at helm for maximum of 2 seasons. I guess that is still more than 7 months...
