Moises Caicedo to Chelsea! "Official"

It’s very catchy. It’s been stuck in my head

I’ve watched it twice already. All we want is Caicedo.

Saw him in Atlanta this summer. He never cut the figure of someone who wants to be at Brighton - barely broke sweat. He better run more for 115M.

Steven Gerrad Gerrard, he slipped on his something ***

Wonder if Kendry Páez has any bearing on his insistence to join Chelsea? Not sure how well they know each other, but remember Moises bigging him up when we signed him.

It's a proper process of price discovery. Liverpool valued him at 110. If we pay a similar amount +- 5% it's hard to argue it's the wrong price. It's where the market for this player is right now. Fans, players and management can be happy that we have paid the market price, not been held to ransom, not done over by Brighton management, not been mugs. Equally Brighton's judgement about the market value of their player was also correct and their decision to hold for the market price vindicated.

Maybe...

A more cynical view would be that someone at Brighton is friends with someone at Liverpool and those two friends got together, had a beer, and decided as easy way to make £10m each was for Liverpool to show a sudden interest and rip Chelsea off for another £20m

If he ends up coming - he needs a song, ala Willian....

early morning starter for 10:

The Bin dippers, they bid a lot,

But caicedo, said he'd rather not,

He had a dream to wear chelsea blue,

he signed for us, but not for you.

He hates the scouse, he hates the scouse etc

Sure this can be improved upon.....

I think we are being hustled..caicedo doesnt want liverpool and both clubs knew it. Its a clever hustle,we are getting well and truly out manouvered by brighton at every turn.

I can see that's a possibility but I'd argue very, almost impossibly unlikely. All caicedo had to do was say yes and he'd be at Liverpool right now. Nor is any money likely to go to Liverpool as a result of this. Nor was there any guarantee that Chelsea would go up to 115.

You can believe in a conspiracy  if you want to but I prefer the simpler explanation, its one that fits the facts and doesn't require a lot of risky conspiracy planning.

We were not keen to pay 100M a week ago, yet happily pay 115M and with the extra bragging rights of a  'win' over Liverpool. Usually the bidders would have approached the agent on the client's interest to join before any bid, so it's a bit of shock they weren't even aware of Caicedo's interest ( or lack of interest) in joining them.  Liverpool is no novice in transfers, so I'm surprised they haven't done their homework before throwing 110M at it.  Klopp, who's usually cautious on any deals, actually made it official in press conference, yet just leave the door open for a late Chelsea bid, well played.

But the saga has been dragged on way too long, so if tomorrow marks the end of it, so be it and we could all overlook the finer details of it.

I’m still not convinced this falls Chelsea’s way - could be another plot twist from Brighton and/or Liverpool.

It’d be a disgrace if we can’t get Caicedo after everything that’s happened past few hours. He’s done everything he could to join us, all we have to do is match Liverpool’s offer, how hard can it be

It's still not done ?

Flows perfectly I'll give you that .

On the brightside its been good to see this huge demonstration of caicedos belief in our club and loyalty to his word. Im not thrilled about the fee we are going to need to pay these brighton arseholes, but i feel after his huge public show of loyalty to us, we really need to do whatever it takes to complete this now.

People really love a conspiracy.😅 As others have already said, there's no guarantee that we were going to bid that much, so Pool would then end up having paid 111m for a player they don't want. Also all of this is pretty embarassing for Pool with Klopp having already talked about the transfer as if it had gone through...

Of course there's a slight possibility it happened that way, but most of the time things are just how they seem. Also football clubs have relationships and also want to be able to do business with each other in the future. Such things as letting another club pay 15 mil extra just out of spite don't usually happen.

Imagine this. Sunday, before the game. The crowd is in suspense. This song starts to blast. Caicedo walks onto the pitch to be announced as new signing

So far, so far, so far
You're slipping away, away
You're slipping right out of my grasp
And you're fading fast
it seems, you know you're slipping away from me

Maybe so, but slapping an extra 11 million on top of an already inflated asking price seems over eager to me. Why didnt the scouse fkrs outbid us with something between 101 and 105 seeing as it would have had the same effect, 11 million on top of an asking price is throwing money around.
