I’d rather he was given a clean traditional squad number like 4 but it looks like 25 now, as his agency all but confirmed it. 25 should remain retired but ever seen JT gave the green light for his number 26 to come out of retirement it has open up the floodgates, unfortunately.
August 15, 20232 yr Author Wonder if Moises called Franco about it. As he was a boyhood Chelsea fan we can all understand why he wanted that number.
August 15, 20232 yr A lot of people underestimate why players want to join us. Not only are we a big club but for young players like Caicedo, they grew up watching the glory days of Lamps, Drogs and Terry so they see Chelsea's as the most successful English side in the last couple of decades and finishing 12th for one season and having no Europe isn't going to change that. Welcome home Caicedo!

Anything to make themselves feel better. Forever feeling like they're being bullied all while being media darlings.

Ultimately, United have passed down No. 7 from Cantona to Beckham to Ronaldo(and ultimately utter w**k performers like Sanchez, Di Maria and now Mount). Madrid have different iconic numbers they've passed down as well. Barca would have been justified to retire No. 10 after Ronaldinho but Messi ultimately did it justice. Etc, etc. I've rationalised it mentally and I guess it's not as big a deal in the grand scheme of things. We can only hope he somehow ends up being a bigger club legend than Zola as that would probably mean success for us.

Welcome home Caicedo! I was listening to talk sport a couple of days ago and laughed when they said 'expecting them to go from 12th to winning the league is asking far too much, it just won't happen'. While I don't think we're ready for winning the league, it's not like we haven't done something similar recently. Won the league, finished 10th, won the league again the following season. I've made peace with the chaos over the past 10 years. Especially because it almost always comes with a bounce back season.
August 15, 20232 yr Moises had #25 at Brighton. I'd imagine he likes the continuity rather than it having anytime to do with following Zola.

Welcome home Caicedo! I think that as well as following Chelsea from a young age, modelling himself on N'golo Kante, Moises probably went up to Liverpool and thought what a fu**ing sh*thole, he met the locals, heard the accent, smelt the piss around Anfield and drove straight down to beautiful, leafy Cobham in Surrey and thought, this will be a beautiful place to live and raise my Kids

Preferably on a Liverpool forum somewhere 🙂

August 15, 20232 yr Who’s cutting onions 🧅. He genuinely seems like a down to earth guy, simple and easy going. He reminds me of Maka and Kante which we know how those turned out. https://x.com/chelseafc/status/1691144983862980610?s=46&t=-ihGgbdk7PMcROr0t1P76Q
August 15, 20232 yr Welcome Caicedo, and congratulations for taking care of your family and generations to come. For once, generational wealth is in the right hands.

Also makes me laugh with I hear "not done enough to overhaul United, Newcastle etc". Our 21/22 team finishes 2nd in last season's league, a lot can change in a summer.

August 15, 20232 yr A big welcome to Moises. Will be a great addition to our midfield and I can't wait to see him alongside Enzo. Getting one over Liverpool is the icing on the cake
August 15, 20232 yr Never was in support of us slamming 80 huge ones on the table for him because I'm a bit more risk averse than Boehly and Co are in regards to our future and financial stability plus of course not sending out signals to the market that we can always be counted on to pay up if we come to town. However lots of raving about him and if he meets those expectations it will be great for us. What I do like about us sealing the deal though is the signal it sends to other clubs to not meddle with our business in the market (except if you're Barca of course) cause we will bring the pain to where you live. Liverpool tried to be smart, observe on the sidelines and pop in last minute. All the talk about the mystery club being Liverpool turned out to be true. What they didn't know (nor we indeed) is that it was only ever Chelsea 😛 and just for good measure and to show we are petty af, really loving takinh Lavia out their grasp as well. Well maybe next season they will do same to some other club, we had our similar moment of humble pie when Rafinha and Kounde did us dirty last season. Glad Boehly and Co learnt some lessons then. Lastly what impresses me most is not the headlines but whoever is getting the vision and blueprint for 8,9 year deals and selling them to these players is sure doing a good job. There must be a real project in the pipeline to a time line of 10 years which also ties in with what Frank said at the end of last season but whatever the case, hope its a fruitful ride we all bloody enjoy.
