October 12, 20223 yr I watched only the 1st 10/15 min and the ref was so bad. Any little touch and it was a foul. There a was a sequence where Mount made one touch pass and the defender ran into him and it was a foul 😱😱
October 12, 20223 yr Watched the game and the replay after. I didn't think we were that great even when they went down to 10 men, we were better in the 2nd half despite AC given a couple of half chances. We really didn't take advantage of the extra man and far too many times we broke forward to their box only for the ball to be played backwards instead of penetrating the extra space. Well taken goal by PEA, although I suspect Rahem thought WTF! as PEA took it away from him and slotted it home. Talking of Rahem, again didn't offer much going forward and as we seen so many times with City and us. He continually runs into trouble and ultimately loses the ball, he's not beating the full backs as he once was. Leao', is the type of player we could do with, Diaz was also lively and gave Chillwell a few scares; I'm not sure why he was subbed, unless he was sacrificed as a result of Tomori being sent off. Anyway another good win by Potter who seems to be getting the balance right in recent games. Let's see how good he is against the 'big eds' in a couple of weeks.
October 12, 20223 yr Our ex player, and big Chelsea fan, Jason Cundy has blasted the ref for his display, and believes Tomori did not commit a foul so should not have been a pen. Frank Lebouf agreed with him, see incidents like that every game basically and they are never pens.

I don't think that was a pen but it doesn't matter sometimes you get a cheap call and that red was a package deal with the pen. The bigger problem was how he ref this game in general. It was so bad.
October 12, 20223 yr Good result, good performance. We could and should have scored a couple more goals. Thought we moved the ball well when they went down to 10 men. And again we pressed the ball, winning it back to good effect. I’ll admit I thought Oliver Giroud was going to come back and score against us in both of these games. He should have done better with his header in the second half, thankfully he didn’t. The penalty? I thought it was, as its a foul anywhere else on the pitch. Edited October 12, 20223 yr by erskblue
October 12, 20223 yr Initially I thought the red was harsh, but watched it a couple of times the referee does have a point. That wasn't just a tactical foul or mistimed challenge, it was two acts of pulling back with no intention to play football. Also there was VAR, so if the referee got the rule wrong, VAR could have overturned the red. Last season James got a red for handball against Liverpool( accidental in my humble view), and no football pundits whinged about that, so 🤔
October 12, 20223 yr A foul's a foul. Doesn't matter if it was soft, cheap etc. The reffing throughout the game tho.. yeesh
October 12, 20223 yr In a parallel universe the red card would not have been given, Chelsea would have pressed on and ran out 3 or 4-0 winners crushing Milan. Instead of controlling and strangling the game at 2-0, same outcome. No big deal Excellent performance from the Chels
October 12, 20223 yr I thought it was a penalty although I think a straight red was a bit harsh. But, as normal when Chelsea benefit from a game changing decision it makes far more news than any time we are on the receiving end, so f*ck em I say. I thought we played well without hitting top gear, perfect for a midweek European away match IMO, and it saves energy for Villa at the weekend.
October 12, 20223 yr Thought we were brilliant yesterday, once we went 2-0 up we completely controlled the game and effectively saw it out in 2nd gear. We could have kicked on and got 3 or 4, but seems Potter and the players didn't want to over exert them selves when it was not necessary. The game was won at 2-0 and we were in full control. Mount was brilliant again, creative and pressing with intensity. That is when he is at his best. Auba again, quiet for the most part but coming up with a big goal when it matters, liking the look of him so far and hopefully he can have a similar impact as to what Eto'o had for us. Kovacic excellent as well, thought he was unlucky not to get man of the match but it was a toss of a coin between him and Mount for me. Credit to Jorginho as well, he's had a lot of stick from most on here recently, me included, but last night was one of his best performances for a while. One more win from our last 2 games will see us through. Not bad considering a fair few on here had us heading out after the loss to Zagreb.

No one, (me included), doubts Jorginho can pull the strings when he has time and space. As he did last night. It's when he is not given time and space that the problems arise. As we have seen many, many times before.

The analysts at a studio were Joe Cole, Rio Ferdinand, and some other guy. My question is what's up with Rio? When he talked, he could barely enunciate, and his mouth looked like he has dentures that would fall out if he did not keep his mouth somewhat closed at all times. He looked really weird talking, and I had never seen him as an analyst before until just now, and I was totally shocked at the way he looked and especially the way he talked. If I did not know any better, I would have thought I was listening to a speech-impaired person. Thoughts? Didn't see it, but his mouth has always gone into contortions when he speaks , he's been thru a lot I think with his wife passing away etc .
October 12, 20223 yr Inter have been poor. Barca dominating in every aspect. Barca's defence has Roberto, Alonso, Garcia, and Pique. The fact Inter refuse to exploit that is shocking.
October 12, 20223 yr Another dominant performance from us yesterday. One of those big European nights when you feel nothing but pride. Once again Milan didn't stand a chance although this time the game was pretty much over after 20 minutes. After second goal of course we decreased the tempo and if it wasn't for James' injury (which hopefully isn't serious) it would've been a perfect night. Even when playing in second gear I had the feeling that we could've scored literally any time if we needed a goal. If anyone is still in doubt, pen+red card was clear. Check the rules and you'll see it was a good example of "not attempting to play the ball". Edited October 12, 20223 yr by wizardous
