January 23, 20233 yr After how quickly the Mudryk deal happened who knows, I'd love enzo fernandez at Chelsea but it's a lot of money for him
January 23, 20233 yr We're not making another bid if we're not paying the full fee, surely not. That would be a complete waste of time. Might just be happening.

January 23, 20233 yr It means we are massively more likely to get him over Liverpool! and not bad odds to sign him generally! ....though I'm no way pro, I bet on Pulisic goals!
January 23, 20233 yr Author Makes sense for it to happen now with UEFA doing the contract cap this summer.

January 23, 20233 yr I am confident this transfer will happen and I know coming from me doesn't mean much.

January 23, 20233 yr Bid for 119M over ten years payment plan, may as well go for the throat since Boehly pissed off Benfica so much
January 23, 20233 yr If we get him, I hope these shirt numbers are sorted out once certain players are cleared out, we’re into the 30’s now, gonna have a first team looking like an NFL team.

January 24, 20233 yr Looks like Gusto is in the bag then. So then? Enzo? Moises? Get some good lawyers on hand Todd, cause I reckon the FA and Uefa will be looking to ding us with point penalties and bans.
January 24, 20233 yr I reckon we moved fast on Gusto because we know this and/or Moises will take more time. Think our main will be all over these deals now.
January 24, 20233 yr Tough to think we’d front the cash for this deal, but then stranger things have happened. Imagine they pulled this one off - would be nuts
January 24, 20233 yr So we are basically contemplating on buying either Enzo or Caicedo. At this moment we probably need Caicedo (DM) more than Enzo (CM) but not knowing anything about Caicedo I prefer Enzo. I am slightly worried about Enzo though. Something about his whitened teeth make me question him. Sort of like: I am Ronaldo already without all that work, skills and goals. 🤣

No lawyer can save Chelsea for what they are doing 🤣 but it’s ok it’s a lot of fun

Pretty sure we have the money. Wasn’t £1.5 billion of the purchase price to go towards transfers? Just give him a 9 1/2 year contract. Worth it just to get ahead of the competition in my opinion. Something to do with amortisation of the fee for FFP i believe. If we can get them to agree to 115m lets say, we can spread that cost over 7 or 8 years with a long contract. I believe if a release clause is triggered the entire 120m is accounted for in this financial year. Could be wrong but read something like that online.

We've literally completed our rebuild in 6 months and no other team is allowed to do the same, Chelsea are absolutely massive.

Yeah I was thinking we could pay the cost up front then spread it out over the contract length similar to the others transfers thinking the amount we pay up front didn't matter if on the books its distributed over the contract length. However as pointed out earlier and you mentioned the buyout clause is classed as wage and accounted for in the one year apparently. Like you say its only going to happen if Benfica can agree to a fee. I surmised earlier its more likely going to be above the €120m release clause rather than less, in the same vein as the Nkunku deal as Benfica seem pretty adamant he's staying. We need to give them an offer they can't refuse.

We need to give them an offer they can't refuse. Exactly this. If we were to pay the release clause of €120m it would be in one installment. Enzo would basically have to inform the Portuguese League Board and Pedro Proenca about his desire to payout his clause and then transfer €120m (delivered by Chelsea, obviously) to the Portuguese League, who'd then have to send the fee to Benfica. By offering more - let's say €150m - we'd potentially be off with something in the region of €10m every six months over 7,5 years. That's indeed a fee we'd easily be able to write of on the books given the size of both our current and future revenue streams.
