Another Winger! - Noni Madueke

He'll probably improve a bit over time and we might regret it, but right now, he's just not good enough, and his attitude is poor at times.

Our 3rd highest goal scorer in the PL last season right?

Yeah, and I think because that's the case it proves we needed an upgrade. 7 premier league goals where 3 came in one game. I don't have anything against him, but he's done nothing to suggest he's worth the money that Arsenal have paid for him.

I am quite confident he will never improve to the level we will regret it. This is pretty much his peak.

Assume I am wrong, but my back of fag packet calculations....

Cost of £28.5m, on a 7 yr contract - back the fee could be amortised over 7 years.

Thats a £4million book value per year.

5 yrs remaining on contract, meaning remaining book value is £20m

If we get £50m, that is around a £30m bankable profit, plus freeing up whatever salary he is on.

How do you get £35-40m?

Using your numbers bought for £28.5m sold for £50m

Signed 6 1/2 year deal ( not 7) So £28.5 less amortised sum of £11 million.

Sold for £50 = £39 m book profit.

If you take his hat trick against Wolves away, he’s scored 4 goals all season.

The offer from Arsenal is pretty good, I’m happy with it. We can use the money to strengthen defence or goalkeeper.

I always felt he had a bit about him, but then you look at his numbers and they’re average at best.

Don’t think it’s out of the question that we regret this but at the same time it’s a very good fee. Bit of a strange move from Arsenal, I think it’s quite possible we overtake them this year.

Annoyingly it strengthens Arsenal with depth but their tactics are cross and inshallah and we've all seen Madueke's crossing.

Good transfer for us but would have preferred to sell him to a Newcastle or Villa.

We have Palmer & Caicedo, + James when Marseca plays him. The have Raya, Saka, Rice, Gabriel & Saliba. We are 3-4 quality players away from catching up

Let’s wait and see. They only came 5 points ahead of us despite Chelsea being seen as basket case pre season and them being seen by many as pre season favourites.

This is their fourth season as challengers and are making risky signings like Gyokeres & Madueke or downright peculiar like Norgard. It’s surely win this season or bust for Arteta.

If we somehow manage to upset the odds on Sunday we will have had a significantly better last 12 months than them.

The record I was using suggested that the last year of his contract was an option yet just having read transfer market the suggestion there it was a 7 1/2 year with another year so if that’s right and again using their numbers it’s

£28.5 ( third of his contract now passed ) so amortised fee £9.5 million to date meaning £19.5 million left

Sold for £50 = £30.5

Which as you can see renders the £39 million stated above by me to be incorrect. That will teach me do sums in my head !

Le Arse make a right habit of signing mediocre players from us for an overinflated price and convincing themselves they’ve ’improved them’

Madueke will never be a League Winning Winger, he’s just not as good as he believes he is. We’re infinitely better already without him. Outside of the Wolves game last year I’d suggest he was more frustrating than anything else, always seemed to make the wrong choice of shoot/pass.

Is this a list of who you consider world class?

Raya isn't world class, and there's a strong argument that Saliba isn't either. Can't remember the last time a CB got over rated as much as Saliba, Gabriel has given him a career. Rice special moments but is a very limited football as an 8.

God bring back football when it was actually football and not people penny counting.

Remember when Arsenal fans used to always flex about net spend?

@just will need some consoling!

It's a shame, as just like CHO before him, had high hopes for Noni. But the same inconsistencies made him a very frustrating player, with the good performances far outweighed by the average, so if we can mug off Arsenal AGAIN for £50+M then I'm all for it.

Another positive is we will no longer get the posts saying "Hey Noni Noni" after he scores a goal - I think @Gordon Bennett was the guilty party, which would then make me start singing the Telephone Man song and I would have it annoyingly stuck in my head for ages!

So was I right the first time? Of course I usually am....but never sure when it comes to numbers. Not enough fingers and toes to count on.

Not too fussed about Noni being sold, as long as we buy an upgraded replacement. It's not Gittens as he's more of a Mudryk/Sancho replacement and the lad is yet to get an England call up so already behind Noni at this time. Is this player Estavao? I hope so but its still a bit of a gamble still only young.

Is Gittens, and Estavao clearly better than Noni, Sancho, and Mudryk? If we don't have any thoughts on replacing him then there's reason to think we could be weaker in the wide areas than last season.

Do we think we'll buy a replacement and who is everyone thinking of? Heard Adeyemi links, but he's not an option for me. Nkunku or George until this Quenda lad turns up? Or is Pedro going to be an option out wide?

And don't forget the goal he nicked off Trev as well.

Outside of that, and the 15 minutes hat trick when the Wolves left back went bizarrely AWOL, then there wasn't really much left in terms of "output"

Watch him now turn into Salah LOL

I think this transfer is exactly the model BlueCo envisaged.

Buy young with potential, when they don’t reach/it’s obvious they won’t reach that potential then offload them for a profit.

For every Palmer there’s going to be a Madueke

And for every Madueke there’s 5 Datro Fofanas

Not the best example given the club probably earned half his transfer back on the loan fees alone.

This feels like the make it or break it season for Arteta. I’ll laugh my ass off if the Gyokeres deal falls through.
