I believe with the exception of CHO (huge fail there money wise) and Connor (not the ££ itself, but the Felix deal + KDH to replace him was idiotic), they've been doing a fine job at selling players: Havertz, Mount, Maatsen (even though it was another shady deal), even Lukaku which was hard to deal with. Their problem lies in the other way, when they can't help themselves buying every single u21 player that becomes available for £20m+.

Can't remember a time when the transfer guys just dug in and want a higher offer. Off the top of my head the news always report that we proposed A, buyer proposes B then we meet somewhere in the middle even though we can fleece them. Mount, Havertz etc was sold without much argument as far as I know.

We should at least be getting what Elanga was.

Absolutely agree. If Elanga is £55m, then we should be getting as much, or probably more.

In top tier english football, Noni has 29 goal involvements (20 goals and 9 assists) for us, across 4886 minutes. A goal every 168 minutes.

Elanga has 40 goal involvements (15 goals and 25 assists) for forest and united, across 7737 minutes. A goal every 193 minutes. Since Joining Forest, he has averaged a goal contribution every 169 minutes - only slightly worse than Noni.

EXCLUSIVE: Noni Madueke to Arsenal, here we go! Fee agreed in excess of £50m with add-ons included, green light from Chelsea.

Madueke already agreed five year deal at Arsenal days ago and he’s now set to complete the move.

The winger leaves #CFC to join #AFC.

Arse fans are furious 🙂

They dont see it as an upgrade, they think the fee is too high and they dont enjoy the ultra slow speed that their board operate in the transfer market. Apart from that its all good 😂

He’s had some good moments, but I’ve never taken to his attitude. Granted I dont know the guy, however, just doesn’t look like he’d take us to the next level.

Overall good business and excited to see what Gittens and Estevao can do. We’ll miss his directness, but hope replacements have more product.

He'll go on to be a good player for them but they won't appeciate him over there one bit. He'll be constantly compared to Saka and if he plays, it will invariably be out of position on the left where he'll have to play left-back for Lewis-Skelly.

Feel like this is a bit of a sliding doors moment for Madueke, with game time and a bit of belief at somewhere like Newcastle he could go on to be a quality player but at Arsenal it's difficult to see him be anything more than squad cover.

Every time I see Madueke.. reminded me of a flat track bully.. every time we bought him on where the opposition was physical and we needed someone to stand up and deliver he would hide..

not bothered about this one..

Nice bit of business. Thanks for the memories Noni. Hope you stink up the place at Arsenal!

The sheer audacity to entertain a rival during a tournament

And still get put on the pitch......in a semi final.

Feels like Noni-out, Gittens-in is a fairly straightforward like-for-like swap of a winger who is better on the right - of which we have too many - for a winger who is better on the left - of which we don’t have enough.

Similar money, similar players. Just squad rebalancing.

Anyone with an especially strong opinion about one being significantly individually better than the other is probably wrong. 🙂

PSG have accumulated a squad that is not only talented, but also hard working and if we are doing something similar, Noni has to go based on the latter.

Totally fine with this.

Agreed. Love seeing how much Pedro works already.

Also, if reports are to be believed of him deciding to leave after our signings, shows he’s not got the stomach for competition. Throw in the partying issues we saw under Poch, and it looks like a great piece of business.

I don’t think it’s as clear cut as deciding to leave because of new signings, there would have been conversations had behind the season. Its easy to paint Noni as the bad guy, but he is the easiest to shift out of our attack because he is on the lowest wages.

It's such a weird story.

Noni is the best signing they've made from us. But they are furious.

I'm not furious. I think 50m for a squad player is decent business all round.

I hope he does okay there. And he doesn't slag us off for credit.

Last season there was a suggestion that he was off to Newcastle for circa £40 million. At the time I wasn’t sure that the other wide players we had were “ better” .

Now 12 months on and another season under his belt I have absolutely no doubt that the wide players for 25/26 are a massive step up. Sancho gone and hopefully Noni will be off as well being replaced by Gittens and Estaveo , Neto another year under his belt something that can be said of Tyrique although I personally thing he would benefit for a year on loan at a club where he will get a decent number of starts.

Sancho for me playing on the left was a terrible addition . Whoever negotiated that £5 million get of jail clause did well. I couldn’t see the merit not agreeing the basic contract for an obligation to buy player at the time of the loan agreement. Could it have been that there ever any real intention to sign him?

Back to that get out of jail card maybe he shouldn’t have signed at all but here was a player who had just played in a CL final , a player that had an ok ish loan in Germany so maybe it was worth a punt to see if there was still a player there but for me and yes with hindsight maybe it was a terrible signing in the first place.

Noni is a player that flatters to deceive. From memory he was player of the game for me and that was against Wolves away. Like Sancho the number of times in a phase of play he would take the momentum out of the move was staggering . Add to that save that Wolves game he only scored 4 more in the PL for a player who often was bought in when the opposition was tiring yet his pace and “ skill set” rarely changed the dynamic of the game.

I thought Maresca made some telling comments about Noni and love the HC or not he is right that if a player thinks the grass is greener they have to go.But from what I read it’s a little more complex in that he has had several failings out with both the coaches and the players.

We can’t ignore the fact that if he does indeed leave for the summer suggested on the face of it seems decent business and finally bear this in mind that the club he is going to has never received a fee in excess of £35 million and that was many years ago for a player called Oxlaide Chamberlain.

Noni appears to be a marmite player at Arsenal he already is more marm than ite . Will he do any better over there ? That basically is the risk both sellers and buyers will hope that history will prove them right.

I think its a shame it has got to this point where selling him isnt really that upsetting. At points last season he looked like he was going to kick on, he was direct and causing opposition defences problems. Then he became a head down blind alley merchant, started playing for himself rather than the team, and regressed. Now that might be down to the clown in charge, or just that he is now at his natural level.

I dont think he adds anything to Arsenal other than a squad player, and they could be about to lose a promising youngster so it could be to cover that.

If we end up with Nwaneri at the end of this then that is an absolute genius move by our owners, but its a big IF...
