Boehly and co have actually done a fantastic job so far in building a team for the future. I imagine come 2024/25 season we're gonna have one hell of a squad with Casadei/Santos/Chukwuemeka/Hutchinson(?), Hall all playing larger roles.

I am looking forward to see how Casadei progresses. From many reports he is doing well at youth level, looks a player. It's about time some good CMs come out the youth system.

I know we bought him, but we mostly produce good defenders in our academy. Santos could be another young player that turns out to be very good.

Never said it was a bad thing. Tuchel was also possession based and we became European Champions that way.

Can Potter get us to that level thought is another question of course.

We play patient build up because of the players at our disposal. We've now got ball playing defenders who can quickly move the ball and good wingers for the system.

Just need a midfield that can quickly transition a ball and we're sorted.

His Brighton side was also very patient. Only City were slower to move the ball up the field on average over the course of the season.

So from what he's shown so far he's very clearly a coach that prefers slow and patient football in general.

Pep doesn't play the usual pass the ball to have the ball football anymore. They are very direct these days. Why wouldn't they be with Haaland and DeBruyne. 

Potter is much more adaptive in terms of style than Tuchel for example. Tuchel is very rigid in terms of style. 

At Brighton Potter had a team that was at its best with the ball. We currently don't have that personnell and to be fair Premier League is not a place to pass the ball to defend anymore. Gegenpress is to get the ball back quickly but attacks are very direct. 

 

Another good analysis video. I've definitely warmed more and more to this signing. Given we've been relying on Sterling, Ziyech and Pulisic to make stuff happen, I think it will be refreshing for a player like Mudryk who is direct and explosive. Will be interesting to see him vs T A-Arnold. Given time I'm sure Potter will be able to help mould him into a more adaptable player. One of things Potter has been known for, especially at Brighton, is making his players more adaptable, such as MacAlister became under Potter.

We've missed someone who requires the opposition to double up on since Hazard. A player who puts some fear into the opposition's fullbacks. 

Less than 100kpw he is earning. 8 year deal?

Must be an incentivized contract where there are a lot of bonuses. 

 

I've been watching too much content on him at this point. I think I need to stop lol. Anyway, good to know what he's capabilities are. I think it could be a shrewd signing with a high ceiling of potential. Lets hope anyway.

I don't watch Shaktar at all, but aren't they the best team in their league? So why would they defend deep and play on the counter? The best teams usually (not always though) dominate the ball and others sit deep to try and contain them.

You can make a much more convincing argument we have the worst owners in football rather than the best.

Todd has been a disaster , a whole lot of money thrown around generally to make us worse, on the pitch, in the dugout, in the medical department, negotiating transfers, the high wages we've given to old players particularly Koulibaly and Azpi and even publically with his 4-4-3 and north vs south Allstar game.

He's a bit of a mad dog and I worry for the future of the club now more than ever given what we've seen from Boehly.

No it was taken out of context in the same manner when people mistakenly put too many players in a formation in match day threads but since its Boehly and American he's an easy target.

I am really glad we didn't go bankrupt and have the ability to buy lots of players . 🙂 .We have also bought some brilliant players and when everyone is fit I'm going to be quite excited!
