So it's Pochettino...and now officially gone!

Featured Replies

I called him Pocherttino early on, and he is indeed just the Argie Graham Potter.

In fact he is worse, Potter at least had us organized at the back. Maybe with players like Palmer and Nkunku we would have got goals under him as well.

Hard to see the season doing anything but going downhill from here. Poch may well be shown the door, and that might temporarily placate some fans. But way bigger issues remain.  An interim will likely go the same way as it did last season. And I have no confidence that they would pick a decent replacement. Clearlake have destroyed the club in less than 2 years.

He is suppose to develop young players but which one has he developed?.

Sack him now.

Palmer.

Managers can develop talent,  they can't create it or clubs would take local kids off the street not spend millions on fees.

I feel for Poch because there are a lot of players in the squad that don't have the talent to play Premier league football there's simply nothing any manager could work with.

I think he has to go now but there should be a few others going with him. We have been in free fall since the ownership took over. Their project has been a disaster no matter who’s in charge.

We won’t be attracting any quality managers soon if we are insistent on signing young unproven players. I agree that we are playing worse than our talent but this squad has 0 personality.

I don't think the board has the spuds to do it like Roman did!

I'd expect him to be here until at least the end of the season!

I don't think he's going anywhere until we get to last season's Potter level bad... and that's actually looking very likely at the moment. I can see things going only downhill from here and not long before we find ourselves beyond 15th in the table.

I think things already have gotten to Potter levels bad. Even during his tenure I don't recall things being this toxic during a game; discontent when the ball is passed backwards, the team booed off at half time & full time, individuals booed off when subbed, a player punching his chair when subbed.

Could we even afford to?

We're already worse than under Potter.

It's impossible to know if any manager could fix this. We've bought utter crap and even worse, half the crap we've bought don't care and are strolling around stealing a living.

Lampard pretty much came out and said he couldn't do anything with the side as no one listened to the manager and I'm pretty sure that's still happening. I can't believe any coach would do training that would leave players so unaware of what to do when someone attacks or how to stop losing the ball in the middle of the pitch with no one behind you.

And what does that talent to play in the EPL look like?  Many players over the years have come from non-league and certainly the lower divisions whether here or overseas, yet many have become household names.  These kids have technical ability to play in this league, what they don't have is a leader on and off the pitch, they don't have a coach that appears he doesn't have the nous to develop these players or it appears the tactical acumen for such a young squad to understand.  He has also not instilled any discipline in terms of positional play and for the most part players are simply going where they want on the pitch and playing their own game, hence it looks a complete cluster.   One wonders whether or not you put them back in the classroom and start with the basics including the art of positioning and defending..

Sacking him now really doesn't make a difference; we are not going to get in the top 6 so Europe is out of the question and unless we really tank it, we are not going to get relegated. Chances of a League Cup victory appear slim to none based on recent performances.  Just as well let sleeping dogs lie until the end of the season, although what we see on the pitch in the coming weeks will reflect the mood of the dressing room....fight ..or capitulation.

Shouldn't have sacked him . It's getting worse

Did you think the same before the start of the seaon though? Because I certainly did not predict us to be this bad. I was moderately optimistic about the season back then.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

It does not matter what I though before the season or what anyone else thought because neither me or you have to prove anything on a football forum. I support the club, not a certain manager or a player and I don't care if my prediction before a season or a match is right or wrong. Even if I thought we'd win the league before the season or that we'd be dog turd it is irrelevant at this point.

Truth is he is probably the worst manager in charge of one world's best clubs.

I don't want to give examples of top managers in charge of top clubs that play an attractive brand of football. Best example I can give you is the guy in charge at Bournemouth. Same time in the job as Pochettino, a bang average squad, yet they look like prime Barcelona in comparison to us in terms of tactics. They have a clear style of play and an identity.

If that guy can do it with a worse squad in the same amount of time then clearly what's happening at Chelsea can't be 100% on the players.

Something like " there needs to be a change before it's too late" punrits taking this to mean change of manager but it could be referring to substitution?

Anyway, Poch had got to confront Silva about it , etc etc blah blah
