Nicolas Jackson - striker

I keep saying it, Nico is a winger. He played as an emergency forward for Villareal when their strikers were injured and had a good scoring run.

There is some talent there, but finishing is not one of them. I don't think he is a write off, bit his behavior over the pen vs Everton has raised alarm bells for me about his mentality.

Dont get the clubs obsession of buying unnatural wingers. Feels like the last natural striker we had was Giroud. Lukaku doesn't count, I've erased him from my memory

Honestly I highly doubt anyone is going to take him off our hands so you might have to start remembering when he's back in the lineup next season.

Unfortunately seems to be coming in for abuse online, not just criticism of his finishing.

Seems that is the way of the modern fan now...

Oh yes it is, don't have to even go out of this place to see it.

Most athletes/sports people thrive off the support and love of the fans, they don't need the love but the support is vital.

The irony is fans want to openly show hatred and disdain for their own but want same player to deliver the goods. Some will argue the players need to win their support and love by delivering the goods first but I disagree. As a fan of a team, you have an unconditional duty to support the team. Sure don't like the player, you don't have to but the trend of pulling your own players down because he smiles funny, walks funny, looks funny, has a horrible personality which you can tell by simply observing how a player is on the pitch and the litany of reasons I've seen on here.....

Some of these players don't stand a chance at ever becoming the players they can be with the kind of toxic fans that abound theses days.

You have the MOTD crowd onto him like Ian Wright.

He made good runs yet the finish was lacking.

I've noticed he can finish a ball put across the box with either foot or head yet struggles with decision making when he has the ball at his feet.

He did try to put in Palmer on one of those runs yet City cleverly intercepted, against other opposition possibly Palmer gets that ball.

Who has shown Hatred on here?

Apparently he’s been heavy abused on social media.

Totally wrong, but that said, I'd put up with being abused on social media if I was picking up ££££ every week and performing as badly as he is.

I still like him and see the value in him, and unlike some players he seems to take accountability when he's been sh*t.

In an ideal world, he is not our starting CF next season and when he does play he is more of a wide forward.

Jackson is a wide forward, you can see that by the way he takes the ball effortlessly with pressure, spins defenders and creates space, the challenge is he freezes in front of the goal.

Look at his link up play, most of the time we open teams up, he's played a pivotal role with his flicks and touches.

So he's a good player but not as your main goal scorer.

Can he become our main goal scorer? Only he knows, do we have the time to wait for him to get there? Only Ted Lasso and his wise men know.

Yup. Putting him in up top makes him as much of a striker as putting him in a garage makes him a car.

Anybody missing 3 chances like that and single handedly lost us the match deserves criticism.

Hes young and atleast hes getting into the right positions but damn it he looks like another bakayoko (bambi on ice)

Needs more time to develop but no chance is he #1 striker next season atleast now the owners will buy a striker

I do see an improvement in aspects of his game since the start of the season. Finishing is obviously important in his position and that will have to improve. Doesn’t give people the right to blame the colour of his skin for the issue. I’m sure the match going fans plus real Chelsea fans aren’t the online abusers

The sad part is despite all the deserved criticisms, we have little choice but to play him again tomorrow, and on the weekend. The real issue is how we managed to play the whole season with Jackson as the only striker , sometime the easiest way to lift a player is give him some competitions. Jackson and his people knows, as long as he's available to play, he's getting picked.

We have loads of choice. He doesn't deserve to play.

If we have no other strikers in the first team squad, play a kid from the youth team.

Think this is a poor comment considering I like your perspective on a lot that you post.

There is a massive leap from a group of committed and often frustrated fans that have signed up to a members forum, expressing opinions and often illustrating their frustrations amongst each other, and the filth and bile that cowards, often hiding behind anonymity,  post directly at, and often to the personal accounts of, players and celebrities that they are apparently fans of. Racism, homophobia,  sexism, extremism of any kind will never be eradicated from the minds if some people. Social media platforms should have the wherewithal to recognise this and, if these pointless, self serving outlets of drivel are to perpetuate there should be safeguards in place to prevent abuse such as this and to make the perpetrators clearly identifiable.
