Nicolas Jackson - striker

Featured Replies

Some felt Tammy wasn't good enough to lead the line for us. I believe he had done enough to continue as a Chelsea striker.

He had 15 goals from open play.

I think there are similar reactions to him as there were to Tammy though Tammy had the advantage of being one of us. That doesn't really earn you a lot of slack these days seeing how Conor is being touted for sale and backed by some loud calls from the fan base to be sold as well.

Time will tell but I think that he will progress as a striker and offers the team more than just goals. His hold up play is fantastic, certainly better than Tammy's. His forward runs are good, though he still does a Bambi impression but when Bambi grows what then? I don't think I'll write him off yet and I'm sure at the start of season if anyone had offered us a striker that would return 10 to 15 goals we might not have done flips with whoops of joy but would all have taken it seeing how we have struggled for years in that area.

Letting Abraham go was the right decision, he's not exactly prolific at Roma is he? I thought Abraham was decent, but that was it. Never good enough to lead the line, but he definitely did well for us but you could see the flaws in his game.

Jackson has far better holdup play than Tammy I think, he's still very frustrating at times but on paper he's had a solid season for us.

Always been a fan of Jackson. Frustrating at times, hangs on too long at times, misses some sitters but he’s strong, fast , good engine, up for the fight and hardly missed a game all season a great signing. Feet are also good. Drogba scored 16 goals in each of his first two seasons. Jackson’s about the same.

He's had a pretty remarkable first season. He's missed so many chances it's hard to believe his first season goals tally is better than Drogba.

I thought today the most important goal was Jackson's first. For once a player wasn't selfish, saw a team mate in a better position and passed the ball. Several times this year our guys haven't done that simple thing. Maybe a sign of better things to come.

If we even take away the hatrick he scored against Spurs some like to deride him for getting the easiest hatrick ever as they call it, he still hits double figures in his 2nd or 3rd season of first team football and 1st in the Premiership.

Not too shabby.

Is this how it's going to be now? A player has a good game and some of you are going to have a go at the fans for pointing out all of the times that player has been sh*t? It's not like you're so innocent yourselves, I'm sure we don't have to look far back in your post history on here to find you doing the same thing.

The criticism of Jackson has been warranted. I still think overall this season we have seen more bad than good, but performances here and there show he can be a decent player. If he pushes on from here, then great, we all win. But lets wait and see if that happens first.

🤣 We're all daft to be fair, we have a terrible game v Arsenal and every player is sh*t, they don't care, manager is rubbish.

2 weeks later loads of us knew we would eventually gel , the players love playing for Chelsea.

It's just the bonkers nature of football 🤣

Brilliant link up play throughout, possibly his best game for us so far.

Agreed - He was solid and decent throughout the game, and took his goals well. Obviously the first was easy, but the second was cracking timing and an assured finish.

Another thing that he deserves credit for is the fact that he has for the most part, cut out the arguing and stupid yellow cards.

Save this post....I have been complimentary to Nico J.

He gets a lot of stick but 14 leagues goals and 5 assists in your 1st season is not shabby at all. I know fans have a go at him for missing chances but you compare to the top forwards in the league and he has done OK. He has missed 23 big chances, Isak has missed 18 big chances, Halaand 33 big chances and Watkins 20 big chances. Beginning of the season I felt 10 league goals would be a decent haul, he has exceeded that.

14 in 33 in the league now is it?

Not bad for a youngster who can't finish.

Fair play to him getting the winner today.

Up to that point howvere it was one of the worst striker performances I have witnessed for a very long time. He was having the proverbial mare!

I was going to accuse you of drama queen extremism...then I thought 'bugger, he is right'

He was truly awful up till that point. And, being honest, if he had missed that he may as well have allowed Just to dig a hole for him to hide in.

He has certainly done enough to be a squad player next season but if we don't bring in a more credible orthodox striker over the summer then we will be in for another frustrating season. This is why I've said on a few occasions that I still wouldn't discount the prospect of Lukaku playing next season.

Only Nicolas Jackson, scores the winner while putting in a 2/10 performance.

That first half was f**king shambolic, did everything wrong, botched so many good counters I can't even recall, responsible for the goal, missed a sitter.

I'll give him this, he never puts his head down when it's not going his way, he keeps trying.

I remember when Morata was having a poor game, it never changed, had his head down and sulked for the rest of it. Jackson keeps trying. But he seriously needs to look up more and pass the f**king ball, stop trying to dribble past players at every opportunity. There's a good player in there, but some serious flaws are holding him back.

Can't make a near post run. Ever. Regularly let's opponents walk from behind him and steal the ball. Doesn't see an unmarked team mate standing 10 yards away. Chooses the wrong pass 93.6% of the time. There is a photo of him with a banjo and the cow's arse is laughing at him. Gets involved with every off the ball situation. Could pick an argument in a phone box. Can't be arsed to jump for a header most times.

But then. Never let's any of it bother him. Misses 20 chances in a row, he will still keep going. Scores a goal.

Can't believe people are defending this guy and arguing a case for him to play.

He is rubbish. His performance yesterday was at the level he has played for most of the season - the recent uptick in performance has been the anomaly.

he is currently level is of a striker for a team fighting for Europa and conference league..

what you keep forgetting is that finishing is not the only thing that is required. To score you need to be on the pitch but to be on the pitch you need footballing ability to hold up and pass and link up and drive .. he is NOT rubbish at that.. Batshuayi was that striker - good finisher below average footballer . Hence he never got minutes..

to say his hold up and passing aren’t improving are simply not true.

jackson will improve — how. many 21 year olds are leading goal scorers. Have some patience and be fair with your comments.
