No way you’re putting any of that on him.

Yes, partly. He made a movement forward to try and claim or punch the ball, his indecision meant he couldn't position himself to make a save.

Refreshing to see a CFC keeper not dither with the ball at his feet. Made a couple of decent saves and doesn't give me a heart attack. He is now our No. 1 - no question.

From corners he certainly does. He was not comfortable dealing with set pieces at all. Other aspects he was fine but Wolves looked like scoring with every set piece they had.

I wet myself reading the level of criticism a young man who has literally made his debut is getting. Is it any wonder why our players dont perform when theyre simply abused by "fans".

Some of you really need to go for a lovely afternoon walk in some fresh air and get some perspective.

Abused? Get a grip, the effort levels are abysmal at times. If anything, they deserve more criticism. Chelsea fans have a tiny presence online compared to United, Arsenal, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Liverpool and even City. If they can't take a bit of criticism from Chelsea fans, then they may as well give up now.

If anything, we're too easy on our players. In comparison to other teams, our fans are very quiet. I remember seeing Dortmund's fans ripping into their players at full time once when their players were struggling in Klopp's final season. Their players accepted it, went to the fans and took their complaints. They turned it around and finished 7th. Our lot would never accept that, they would sooner walk off, head down, and just serve up the same sh*te in the next game.

If you can't take a few harsh words in this sport, then you're not cut out for it. This is why the likes of Mason Mount pissed off to United when things got tough, now he finds himself under the scrutiny of an bigger and more vocal fanbase and has his brother coming out and telling people off online.

I remember listening to John Obi Mikel criticising the team the other day and he was spot on. They play bad and he see's them laughing and joking, something he said would never be allowed to happen back when we had the likes of JT, Lampard, Drogba, etc. I even see it straight after a match at times. The full time whistle blows and the players all hugs and smiles with the opposition they just embarrassed themselves against.

This club seems to have lost its pride and it's like some of our fans seem to expect us to sit around and let it happen.

Literally as @Scott Harris get a grip.

Please tell me one part of my comment where I abused him? That is a strong word to use, so change your choice of wording. I literally mentioned that he gave me shivers when Wolves  had corners, however other aspects of his game I was content with and that is so called 'abuse'? Get a grip. I am one fan who never abuses any players from our team. You will never see any post from me where I have abused a player. I give out constructive criticism.

Ironic and hypocritical you said this about Sanchez who is only 2 years older than Petrovic and joined this summer:

"Sanchez is a lower grade Willy Cabellero.

More millions thrown down the pan.

Really think a youth team keeper can do a better job. Get this bell out of the side, he wasn't good enough to start for Brighton so no way in hell he's good enough to start for us. A total liability between the sticks at premiership level. "

Now that is what you call abuse from a so called 'fan'. Please compare your comment to Sanchez and mine to Petrovic and tell me which one is abuse considering you considered to quote me and state I am abusing him and question me as a fan... Thank you.

Im all ears as to how you stop a football club cycle? go on, entertain me. Even better, why dont you apply to buy the club to stop the rot as you see it.

How is this a football club cycle exactly? We've gone from Champions League and World Club Cup winners to a mid table team in 2 years. That isn't just a regular football cycle, that is incompetence off the pitch and a lack of care on the pitch. I can't remember a bigger drop off in the game.

The situation we find ourselves in should never have happened. A pointlessly reckless gameplan that was never going to work.

OK... United dropped off the pace instantly when Fergusson retired. Wenger did his best to keep Arsenal at the top but kept slipping off. the same will happen to city when Pep goes. Look at Parma and other clubs down the years. Barcelona are another example.

It may be incompetence, or it may still work out, Id argue the manager merrygoround doesn't help nor a high turnover of playing staff. But that's what's happened, you can either get mad and blame the players who were signed and wear the blue or we could try and muddle our way through it and keep believing in the process of changing the way the club is run.

Alternatively, stay angry... buy the football club - drop 1 billion into it and run it how you want... Despite us wanting new owners already, we dont have a choice but to accept their ownership. it's not like they want an unsuccessful football club and I dont think we're too far away from having a competitive side. Poch needs a little more experience and goals from the players he's got.

As long as he doesn’t have bozo moments he’s automatically better than Sanchez.

Anyone else noticed he clears it when he needs to clear it? Sanchez f**ks about 100% of the time.

So refreshing to see a keeper just f**king clear it when required instead of trying to force a pass.

If I was to be super critical of him today, he did make a hash of the save on the second goal. Maybe a freak deflection/rebound but his hand placement didn’t look ideal.

Still, should be number 1 going forward.

Positive start. Deserves to keep the starting spot.

Agreed. Do I think he is a top drawer keeper? No

Do I think Samchez should come back? No.

Until Sanchez accepts he has the ability with the ball at his feet on a par with @Liam's daughter to act like a lady he isn't what we need. Our defence is ropey enough without a goalkeeper who doesn't clear his lines

Not a top draw keeper yet. Will he be? I don't know, he seems to have all the fundamentals just needs to develop them more.

Absolutely. Still has a way to go but he has time on his side and can only get better with elite coaching (i guess 🙄) and weekly top level game experience. Im hopeful, barring any confidence issues.

I agree. It is slightly hard to believe that he’s 24, I thought he was 19 for some reason.

But from what I’ve seen so far, I really like him and think he’s more than good enough to keep his spot.

I guess with time we’ll know if he’s top drawer or not.

24 is like 20 for a keeper so you were close  ;)

The point here is that he does well what he can do and he doesn't take unnecessary risks. Today whilst he could have done better with the second goal i still thought his claiming of high balls was much improved. His distribution isn't brilliant but its not bad and he is risk averse which is a good thing with this team. The press are already picking up on this by baiting Poch about not playing out from the back.

Sanchez is an equally good shot stopper and is commanding on crosses as well. If he can adopt a similar risk averse approach with the ball at his feet we could have two very competent keepers. And if you take Ederson and Allison out of the equation the rest are all competent at best. Martinez, Raya, Ramsgate, Pickworth, all just competent goalkeepers. There is nothing wrong with competent.

A few good saves so far but not been overly tested, but unlike with Sanchez I don't sh*t myself every time he gets a pass, Petrovic seems to know when to pass it (and does it well) and when to just clear it. Promising start and he's done enough to keep Sanchez out of the team in my opinion.

So far he looks like the number 1 for me. Sanchez always seems to have a mistake in him.

Sanchez doesn't just inspire any confidence. He always has a way of looking out of place even without the ball and when he's on the ball the indecision is so glaring and I expect for him to do something silly almost always with the ball at his feet.

I'd give game time to Petrovic as he's younger and can improve a lot better than Sanchez will at this stage I believe.
