Matchday get in . The weirdest "stat" is that Petrovic has actually conceded more goals per game in the PL this season than Sanchez has, which is contrary to the eye test for sure ! I want Petrovic to start today btw
March 2, 20242 yr It's a freak stat', we conceded 8 goals in 2 games where we were total sh*t. How many more did he save in those games.

Pooch never gave Petrovic a sniff in any game until Sanchez was injured. Petrovic hadn't played a single minute of Prem football before the injury, Sanchez was a seasoned Prem keeper. Its as much about managing personalities and egos as anything else. We don't want Sanchez kicking up a fuss behind the scenes, i think its evident Petrovic is our number one now.
April 5, 20242 yr Well had it been Sanchez yesterday we would have had pages of the poor choices he made on each goal. Petro is a good back up, but not a number 1 that will win you titles.
April 5, 20242 yr Not even sure if GK is a pressing matter at this point. Petro is fine as things stand. Defence, midfield, and ST need sorting out first. I think if we improve on that and Petro still looks off, then we can think about bringing in another GK.
April 5, 20242 yr I'd agree that, given our financial situation, a new goalkeeper can't be a priority. Especially as it looks like we will have three on the books when Kepa returns. If we didn't have the finance issue and we were genuinely thinking of challenging to be say top three then I'd agree none of our options are good enough however we are a long way from that just now. Ideally we ship two of them (Kepa and Sanchez) and stick with Petrovic and a cheap back up. Christ De Gea is strolling around attending squirrel kids parties just now.

If money was not an issue I would have Petro back to back up and either Martinez or Ortega be our number 1.

Petro can get better.

April 7, 20242 yr only at not passing the ball to the opposition. sanchexz pribably better shot stopper
April 7, 20242 yr Not exactly making a compelling case to keep Sanchez out of the team now ... albeit a supposedly fit again Sanchez has not made the match day squad for the last two games now LOL

In the popularity contest he's certainly ahead, but unfortunately not on any of the actual goalkeeping metrics that would be far more useful ! Right now he is a country mile below the numbers he was putting up in the MLS (he had a save percentage >80% there)

The problem is we play too much meaningless sh*t football passing around at the back to make it look like we're in control and Sanchez just doesn't have the speed of thought between touches. Everything is so slow with him that invites more pressure on. Petrovic is the other extreme just hoofing the ball upfield
April 7, 20242 yr Who'd have thought getting a decent GK is this difficult 🤔Sanchez is not the answer, but Petrovic is in that danger zone with confidence, where one more big mistakes he'd turn into Kepa of that horror season. What happened to that young American GK we signed a few seasons ago? At this point, almost any option should be considered
April 8, 20242 yr He is in danger of being dropped. With an expensive replacement on the bench, that the money men will want to protect their investment in, I would not be surprised to see Sanchez back. After his inexcusable mistakes the last 2 weeks, it would not be overly harsh and is probably the correct thing to do.
