Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Chelsea (PL) Sun 24th Dec 23 13:00 GMT

Another defeat for our U23's team created by the board.

Nkunku did well though, he's more threating half fit than a fully fit Broja and Jackson.

The board have got some serious thinking to do in January, do we continue with these limp attackers and go for mid table safety or do we address one of the most obvious problems in top level football that a team with money has got and give ourselves a chance of possibly winning a cup or even sneaking into a European position.

Nkunku hasn't come to the Premier League to be the same level as Wolves & Bournemouth.

The directors of football at this club need to earn their money and explain in layman terms to the board members why just randomly buying youngsters doesn't give you immediate results without more experienced players or preferably Premier League experience in the mix.

Merry Christmas all!

Where do you start with this sh*t performance.
I’ll keep it brief and not go though everyone’s performance.

Goalkeeper, looks ok but like a rabbit in headlights on corners. Other teams will notice his indecision and will target us and him big style.

Theres a reason Silva still plays for us at 39, it’s because we are sh*t. He needs to go, he controls our slow slow tempo and his style of play encourages this lax play around him. Unfortunately our other defenders are fairly sh*te at  control and move and end up getting caught for 2/3 big chances every match.

Gallagher does something’s good but a lot of bad. How many times did he loose the ball in tight situations today. If he doesn’t want to sign he can go next month, we will get over it. Also he never seems to learn when running back with players. Every time it’s the same attempt of tackle from the side which he misjudges and gives a free in a dangerous position plus a booking.

Jackson looked more sh*t that Brojan today because he got more opportunities to be sh*te. I suppose maybe he got into better positions. One thing sure is that neither will get into a position to attack a low driven cross into the box. Both clueless, neither would look dangerous with a shotgun up the jumper.

Sterling is not a leader on the pitch, not what you’d expect from his standing and he goes down far too easily. I’m sick of it, refs are sick of it and that’s why he got booked, should have been earlier for diving or instigating the foul on him.

Inside about 5  minutes today we had three bookings. 2 for kicking the ball away and another for backchat. Then Sterling gets booked so we miss him and palmer next match. Needless bookings which have to stop. I don’t know how many bookings we had today but not once can I remember a Wolves player rolling about in agony or getting taken off because of injury caused by a bookable tackle by us.

Our play comes straight from the training ground, no intensity, tippy tappy as it doesn’t matter if we loose the ball. When you get site of goal inside the box put your f**king boot though it, don’t keeping checking inside as if your playing against the kids in the back garden.

Finally anytime a half decent tackle comes it, fair or otherwise, if you’re a wee bit hurt don’t let on. Get up, stick your chest out, smile at the opponent, call him a knob and you’ll do him the next time you get a chance. Our players are f**king chocolate men with no fight. Defenders must love playing against these  whimsy, whiney little bitches.

Merry Christmas everyone. 🎄🎅🏼

That was terrible. Manager has to take responsibility. From the inept starting line up, the nonexistent half time changes, then going a goal behind from a corner, then the panic subs. It was totally predictable. We’ve seen it over and over.

If the manager is making things worse then what is the point? If you’re going to start Jackson and Broja and leave Mudryk, Nkunku and Madueke on the bench, then you have to get something out of the game. If you don’t, then you screwed up. And if you keep screwing up, then you don’t deserve to be Chelsea manager.

🫥 What a surprise to see we lost. I am shocked at this turn of events.

I had a little giggle reading this, I guess borderline mediocrity does that.

Absolutely predictable, unfortunately for us.

Just watched highlights. Sterling what a f..g selfish c..t... one on one with two in support with tap in and he takes a shot. if i was Poch i would f...g bench him for the rest of the season. Just fuming. Sell him in January

It was very early in the game otherwise I would agree.

Getting cut adrift from the teams above us

5 points behind " having a disappointing season"   Brighton

6 points behind crisis hit United

8 points behind " Moyes out" Hammers.

Ain't seen the game, so I can't comment , but sounds like it's the same old same old again

Happy Christmas everyone, and never forget,

Win or Lose ,up the BLUES !

We won’t do anything until we address the number 9 position.  A proper striker today and we are 2 up and no doubt controlling the game.  The longer these games go without scoring you know that the defence will mess up at some point.

I don’t want Gallagher to leave but if he has to go to raise funds for a forward then I’d rather that then continue as we are.

Nukunku is a start but for me he is the Hazard to Costa, lamps to Drogba, Gudjohnsen to Jimmy, Speedie to Dixon (the player who scores the 2nd most goals in a season after the main man).

Another, which I think is on Poch, defenders should be allowed to hoof it sometimes!!!  To me, it seems that even when they should simply put it in row z, when under pressure, they look for a stupid pass!

Why do you want to make changes when you could have easily 3-0 up in the 1st half?

The moment Gary O’Neil told his player to go down in the 15th-20th minute and gave his team instructions, it changed everything.
Jackson and Broja were terrible and yet again Poch only made a change when after we concede.

All season every manager we’ve come up across has been more proactive than Poch.

Look. I know Poch was lumbered with Jackson and Broja. But if Poch selects players who don’t perform, or who aren’t good enough, then it’s the manager’s responsibilty for picking them. If you’re handicapping the team by picking Broja and Jackson, then just don’t play them. Find another solution. Just don’t pick the two most inept players at the club to start the game, then blame the Board. We know the Board are cretins. We know Jackson and Broja are rubbish. Find a way to play without them. Show us you can find a way to compete without them. Just don’t subject us to those two playing upfront. It’s never going to work.

He'll put in a transfer request in the summer.

Can't see Nkunku being here next season just looking at the players we have we're obviously not the calibre of club that can keep a player like him and he obviously wouldn't have signed if he knew what we were going to do to the squad.

Actually it wouldn't surprise me if in two months he is down to the level of the rest of the dross here. I mentioned it under Potter and got caned for it because of the poor way I worded my post, but definitely the fitness work, the patterns, tactics and strategies we do in training, if in fact we do anything, seems to make our players deteriorate. I think this is valid although I agree that we would not intentionally do this. It comes from this relentless and ridiculous approach of not using players in their area of strength but trying to shoehorn players into other roles.

Have the players regressed from potter to poch?

Not really sure

This is the screen grab just before the point blank header that Petrovic saved.

Ignoring Sterling and Jackson, we still have 7 bodies for 5 Wolves players, and yet leave two of them wide open at the back post. Why does this keep recurring ????

Our right back (27)  is in f**king no mans land again ... it doesn't  seem to matter who plays there they all drift infield far too much leaving free rein for the attackers on their side. The positioning of the CBs and DMs is shocking as well.

The defensive organisation and communication is a shambles ....

Same sh*t for the first goal : Gusto in the middle of the goal again ffs !!!

Is this some sort of sh*te zonal system or something ?

Why have 178cm little man Gusto right in the bloody middle ? How's he ever going to win a header up against taller centre backs and strikers ? As it is, he doesn't even compete and the Wolves player scores his header with both feet planted firmly on the ground LOL. We've got three specialist centre backs and you could throw a hoop over them at the front post in that passage of play (note not one of them is even in the still), and it's left to Gusto and our 19 year old rookie DM Ugochukwu to try and defend the corner. Just hopeless ...

A post on Redcafe which hit the nail on the head. It was a carbon copy of Colwills attempted pass back that led to Newcastles goal in the week.  Coincidence or is this how they are being coached ?

" Mudryk surges into the box... turns around and knocks a hospital pass 30 yards backwards in a valiant attempt at getting Gallagher sent off. "

- Start hiring set pieces coach.

 - Start giving silva retirement plan

- Put a big cushy towel on Nkunku because we need him badly.

Didn't Poch have more of his kids at training this week. Maybe he can give another on a job.

The lack of structure and organisation from this mob is criminal.

I'd probably accept it if it were a bunch of quality players with a proven elite manager. But here we have a bunch of mid-table to championship level players being guided by a manager who is only famous for doing the gacon test. The PL is a very tough league and I don't expect most of this lot to survive 3 years.

I agree @Nick05 and I think we are lucky that there are three worse teams than us in this league as I can see this going close with this weak bunch and appalling set up.

No the point I made was that we would sign players that on paper and at previous clubs were fine and they would look great at the start with us but as they got into our "system" they just got worse. Felix for example.

Today's starting XI cost £222m out of the "£1 billion" spent by Clearlake.  £14m for the goal keeper, £65m for the defence ; £23m for the midfield ; £120m for the attack (LOL)

£422m on the injury list. £237m on the bench. The rest is out on loan.

Wolves were sh*te and played the most basic football - punting crosses into the box - and we still conspired to lose.

We'd be doing better with Allardyce or Warnock in charge rather than this disorganised rabble.

I don't think it would make much difference who is in charge as long as they are expected to play a lot of these expensive flops. I actually think we would look better playing some of the academy kids like Gilchrist, than some of the rubbish we have signed.
