Incoming coach Enzo Maresca will be given time and patience as long as he produces a "base-level performance" and does not "rock the boat" too much with the club's hierarchy. (@NizaarKinsella @BBCSport) #CFC

Essentially the board are trying to replicate what they wanted to do with Potter. Let's see if it works this time around. Unlike Potter, Maresca will have no excuses, he has a whole summer to get to know the players, a transfer window to make a any tweaks he needs to and is inheriting a better squad than what Potter inherited IMO.

A squad that is already 1 year into playing with one another and no AFCON this winter.

Yes. Poch probably would have kept his job too, had he not challenged the owners and directors over some of the football decisions.

And also has the brightest young player in the league and a transfer window to strengthen any weaknesses. Top 4 should be the minimum requirement for him

Matisse has made a good point online actually. Its the owners that have now gone all in. Its on them totally. You can't blame Maresca. Everybody knows he is inexperienced and has no real CV to support this. This is a game plan form the owners and the SDs. Get this wrong and it lies solely at their door.

In theory you are right. Although a lot will also depend on incomings/outgoings this summer. Not to mention whether we improve our issues with injuries.

It has to be pointed out that we have ended up with Maresca. This basically proves that most of the punters and people on this forum including me know  bugger all about what's going on and we should all be a bit less confident with our assertions, opinions etc.

Looking at the bookies gave no useful information. zero. That's because the people placing the bets had no information and were just guessing based on the last newspaper or youtube report they read. When Gordon Bennett posted in this thread on May 22 so 1 week ago Maresca wasn't even on the list for whom odds were available.

Axeman's conviction it was De Zerbi was utterly wrong.

Looking at Coaches voice like I did and thinking it would be McKenna was utterly wrong.

Whether Amorin or Hoeness were ever even approached is lost in the mist of time.

Not one person on  this forum that I am aware of mentioned Maresca as a likely choice 1 week ago. Happy to be corrected.

I am not saying this to be negative about any person or prediction, but more about the general idea that any of us has a clue about how this club works or what it's doing. People, including me, often think we know what's what when we haven't a bloody clue.

That includes all the experts on twitter..even the ones "with Chelsea connections" and I'm still wondering who the mystery manager is 🤔🤔

I've heard from a solid Twitter source that I can't name that it was Avram Grant.

You can't really trust the club to get a decision like this right can you?

That said, we should give the guy a fair chance. It feels very like the appointment of lamps the first time though, which is to say that there probably isn't enough evidence to judge whether maresca is any good.

Par in his one season with Leicester, a short time in Italy which we can probably ignore. Worked for guardiola. Lovely voice. If the club have got this right it will be down to luck, not judgement.

Well said.

Unfortunately, passing off luck as judgement is the merely the way of doing business for 00s private equity like Clearlake. They will keep throwing darts at early-stage propositions in the hope that one develops into something signifcant, and will claim "process" when it does.

High praise from Fraudiola.

Wait, is this AI generated 😄
It makes me doubt. Darn, the fact that I'm unsure means that AI is getting too good

Hopefully one day people will realise these social media experts know f**k all, its all just throw enough sh*te at the wall hoping something sticks.

Quite incredible that they had months to carry out their due diligence on our new manager last season before hiring pochettino.

Now we're told that the style of football pochettino has always favoured doesn't fit what the club wanted.

The arrogance of these guys.
