Alejandro Garnacho

Now show the missed chances, and abysmal final balls.

85 shots, 6 goals.

Aside from the freak overhead kick (which will become an Oscar/Juventus moment career wise) a Madueke highlight reel looks better, similar stats too.

But Madueke is 23 and Garnacho is 21

Madueke could beat a defender, though. Garnacho is very incapable of that, rarely takes on his man and is easily marshalled. He can finish and cross, but I'm just not sure how he fits into this system.

We’ve got him now so I’ll fully support him while he puts in the effort wearing the shirt.

Maybe Man Utd is such a car crash of a club a change of environment must be just what he needs to kick start his career…

Garnacho looks like he is playable straight away. Is he better than Madueke? It doesn't matter.

By now it is quite clear what blueco plan is, so as long as we don't have 23/24 squad repeat, I don't care too much.

Pity tho, we need dribblers in the team, thats how you open up defences. We will see what he brings, surely the sds must know his capabilities and have good reasons to sign him???

As with all new signings his career for me starts when he puts on a Chelsea shirt.

What went before good or bad is over, what matters is what he does for us.

I can’t say I wanted him but he definitely seemed to want us which I like.

Let’s hope he does well.

Stay positive with this, he’s young & PL proven. One of BlueCo’s better signings. Escaping that cesspit of Utd has done wonders for everyone’s career, let’s hope Ale’s goes the same way.

I for one am pumped to see him play.

My main concern is as @dkw pointed out, that traditionally you could rely on someone to put these players into their place. We don't have that at any level of the club.

I don't know how you can say that when Enzo F is at the club.

Enzo is the factor that converted me into think Garnacho was worth a punt.

We might not like how Enzo fits in the team, but he is a fighter and will not accept a fellow argie slacking off.

Far too much Enzo slander being bandied around recently, bloke oozes passion everytime he’s on the pitch.

When a £100m midfielder puts in an effort like we saw against Palace and Fulham, we have every right to slander him.

I'm somewhere in the middle with Enzo, but there are definitely 2 camps in this argument. Both of which take it over the top with praise and criticism. He's a player who's clear weaknesses I've fully acknowledged but not to the point where I say sell him at all costs. Against low blocks he's an asset as a box crasher and against the top sides in a 3 man midfield.

I think the biggest gripe is how Maresca uses him along with how poor Enzo always starts the season.

Strange one from Garnacho yesterday. He played a part in the second goal and, to be fair to him, kept finding acres of space down the left - albeit he was regularly ignored when he got into those positions, which isn’t on him.

But then he undoes all that good work by completely switching off for their equaliser. Just lost his man far too easily, and at this level you get punished. Couple of moments of quality and promise, followed by a huge lapse that cost us.

I’m not going to focus too much on him losing his man, could have been down to communication issues or simply not familiar with the team defensive set up enough yet.

The ball still had to go through 5 of our players all chasing 1 ball and a GK not positioned properly in the first place. Long throws are generally chaotic and theres usually a long list of mistakes that happen as a result, better teams/defences than us have fallen victim to a Rory Delap special.

All this would have been moot anyway had Palmer put away the chance Garnacho created. He was on for about 15 mins, barely got the ball but when he did he created two chances. It was a good performance for me.

Garnacho was a breath of fresh air when he came on. Limited minutes but several involvements with crosses, looked lively. Blamed for the goal but the cluster of our defenders didnt have a decent defensive header between them, one turning his back another not even jumping.

Comparisons to Madeuke are irelevant the later has gone. Comparisons to Gittens oh dear, no doubt Maresca will continue to select Gittens for the next year or so then he will disappear.

Hope he makes up for losing his man last weekend with a large dose of Curse Of The Old Boy up at OT and wipe any grin off Amorim's boat if they look like getting anything out of the fixture, hope of course springs eternal !

Speaks volumes really.

If it had been anyone else, they’d be more of a face palm, since it’s Garnacho, it’s just tip of the iceberg stuff really. We have signed a horrific individual, of which the fans, players and even the manager never wanted.

Meh, yet just another social media baiting story imo... Player has friends at his former club despite fighting with his ex-manager and swapped shirts, big deal. What the media should truly focus on is the appalling performance of Maresca and both our keepers.

We're talking about football in the 2020s, players are "all" friends with each other now. Palmer shook hands with Mainoo at the sideline when he was subbed off, no one is questioning his will to play and win the match though. I'm yet to warm for the Garnacho signing like most of us I believe, but I'm pretty sure he would've tried hard to inflict some pain at Utd and would've swapped shirts anyway if he had come on.

I thought his handling was bizarre. Treated with kid gloves for no reason. Yesterday should have been a make-or-break career moment for him, but Maresca's pointless ambivalent commentary in the press just made everything worse.

Bizarre, I'd call it plain stupid - Garnacho has played nearly 100 epl games and scored 16 goals.

And then he's back at OT champing at the bit to get on the pitch and make an impact...

So Maresca tells him to warm up and... then tells him to sit back down and make way for, who exactly...?

Tyrique George - kid who looked like a fish out of water and was due to be sold last year anyway!!!

What the f**k is going on at Chelsea ?
