March 14, 20251 yr Short lad. Plays as a RWB or as a winger. Martinez called him "a creative player" and praised his "one-on-one quality".Oh and favourite bible quotes of the day. . . .Psalm 137:9“Blessed shall he be who takes your little ones and dashes them against the rock!”2 Kings 6:29 “So we boiled my son and ate him. And on the next day I said to her, ‘Give your son, that we may eat him.’ But she has hidden her son.”Hosea 1:2“When the Lord first spoke through Hosea, the Lord said to Hosea, “Go, take to yourself a wife of whoredom and have children of whoredom, for the land commits great whoredom by forsaking the Lord.”
March 14, 20251 yr F*ck yes, another 17 year old signing for an eye watering amount! Just what we needed!
March 14, 20251 yr I think because we're sick of signing players for the future we're getting too caught up on his age. If he was 23 and had the characteristics and reputation I think people would be a lot happier about it. I think a difference between him and some of the others we've signed is it's not as if this is a lad we've plucked out of a South American league or someone's youth academy. He's a regular starter for Sporting Lisbon who are a good side and he's also just gotten his first call up to the Portuguese national team at the age of 17 so I think it's unfair to tar him with the same brush as a lot of the other kids we've signed.

March 14, 20251 yr A huge talent—only 17 and already comfortable playing on both the left and right wing. He reminds me a bit of Doku at City. Very skilful, quick, and hardworking. A regular starter for Sporting Lisbon, and he’s already proven himself in the Champions League. I really like him and genuinely see him as a top-level winger. You can catch a glimpse of his ability in this highlight from the Sporting-Porto game last month: https://youtu.be/-IHQT6-HgcE?si=xqaNMYUSJcbYkLAE
March 14, 20251 yr And if one is not enough We Ain't Got No HistoryReports: Chelsea, Sporting CP also agree Dário Essugo tra...Whoa, what’s happening here?
March 14, 20251 yr Seems to be confirmation that we’ll be moving on from Maresca then. Can’t keep splashing out on all these attacking players for a coach who despises entertainment.

Some will say that is harsh because of his age, but that is exactly why we don't need him. We already have enough young wingers with little end product, this is just adding to it. He's also another RW, we have 2 of them, with another one in Estevao joining in the summer. So what's the plan here? who's going to score the goals? are we selling Madueke already? Will we be here in two years time looking to sell Quenda too? This is more money wasted. We need a striker, a goalkeeper and an experienced CB, but we're throwing another 40m at more potential, potential that is probably no better than what we already have at Cobham.

I reckon by the time he comes we would have moved on a couple of our underperforming wingers.

When you have that it’s less important for the wingers to score regularly

Were Rennes in CL when we signed Lesley?I agree with his scoring though, that's an area he needs to improve for sure. I would imagine by the time he actually joins in 2026 we would have sorted out or ST and gotten wingers or midfielders who can actually score. Maybe wishful thinking on my part but either way it's not a valid reason to reject genuine talent like this that is complete in every other regard. He's better than most young wingers not named Yamal, this isn't potential we have in the academy as much as I rate them highly.
March 14, 20251 yr WOn't bother learning the names. They'll be loaned out and then sold for minor profit, at best.
March 14, 20251 yr He seems to be highly rated not just another Washington or Datro Fofana so that makes it more acceptable. Also Man Utd fans seemed to think this was an inevitable signing and the next coming of Ronaldo so that makes it even more entertaining. However is it just me that thinks we could add another £20m and get Gyokeres or even Sesko ? Don’t they both have reasonable buyout clauses?Looks like we’ve bought another Sporting player. Wasn’t there rumours on the past we wanted to buy Sporting? Might as well now.
March 14, 20251 yr Another large sum of money gone on a player that cant help us at all in the short term. What a joke we are now. Go agree a deal for an experienced striker, goalkeeper or centre back you clueless fools

March 15, 20251 yr Judging from yet another random "Welcome to Chelsea" vid it seems we've got ourselves a Madueke regen, albeit with less output. His highlights finish with him dribbling past a defender and... That's it. It all probably leads to nothing so it gets cut out. As been mentioned though, problem is not the signing itself, but what's the point if our 5-year project manager just wants to recycle possession indefinitely? It's hard to get excited about any signing at this point.
