For what we paid for Madueke, he hasn't been disappointing. Neto was overpriced for what he did at Wolves, which wasn't impressive. Gittens at least has contributed a good amount this season at Dortmund, especially at 20. But the options on the market for top quality wide attackers is poor unless we are talking about paying 80m+ and large wages.

What are our alternatives to this one that could come for a similar price? Don't think we'll go for either Williams (wages) or Leão (price+age).

Remember being "linked" to Yildiz at Juventus, or one at similar age is Nusa at Leipzig.

@Valerie Any info on Noa Lang? Probably isn't a target or even good enough (also "too old"), but I remember watching him once in a while and thought he could do a job in the PL.

Another player we had a free run at because no other club wanted them and we've failed. Gittens and Maignan.

Nice of the club to drop all the new signing announcements today with the negative PR about them once again being incompetent.

Hard to get excited over him because I know next to nothing of him. Young player who has featured for Dortmund. 32 games 8 goals 4 assists. Transfermarkt values him at 50m Euros.

It’s worrying that likes of Williams ,Leao could be out of reach because of our wage structure. Let’s face it these aren’t outstanding players just good ones that we suddenly can’t afford.

Other options the likes of Mbeumo, Gordon, or Mitoma! But we could have the same wage problem.

I know where every conversation goes between us two so I don't bother wasting my or your time on them. Not sure it is really "TV" for others either so I think it is the best.

Same can be said of 90% of our signings. What we need is the new Jamie Gittens ..now he’s a player!

I think it is point that is overlooked. I think that the assumption is that we're out there wheeling and dealing our moneyball deals, Billy Beane style, when it may well be that as an administrative organisation were just painfully slow and incompetent. I still remember the Ziyech debacle. Cringing.

Played on senior level only in the Netherlands and Belgium, so there's the usual question mark about how he would do in an intensive league. No doubt he's a talented winger, though. BTW he's currently linked with Napoli, Marseille and Fenerbahçe.

He doesn't seem to be the sharpest tool in the box. He doesn't know when to stay away from social media and he has a fondness for offensive songs. A friend for little Enzo 😉

He turns 26 this month, so probably not on Tweedledee and Tweedledum's wish list.

I don’t really get the argument that if a player was not very expensive, it’s not disappointing if they’re not great. If they’re not good enough or producing, then they’re disappointing no matter what was paid.

They could sign me for £1.50p on a 30 pence a week 12 month contract, but I would definitely be disappointing.

Lyon already had an agreement with Cherki that he could leave for about 25/30m I think. Lyon also aren't in the CWC and Dortmund are.

City seem to pick better targets in both on field ability and signability.

Maybe we don’t want to ‘overpay’ because we know he’s not vital to taking the team up a level, and we need to maximise the profit potential. Half a dozen mediocre performances in the PL could make him worth an extra few million when we try and flog him to a club in Germany or Italy.

We’ve all become a bunch of bean counters. If wage bill reflected ticket prices I could understand.

Transfer fee, salary, reputations mean nothing to me. I only care about what they do in a Chelsea shirt nothing else and getting the best possible 11 out playing good football and competing for trophies.
