Neto was overpriced for what he did at Wolves, which wasn't impressive. Gittens at least has contributed a good amount this season at Dortmund, especially at 20. But the options on the market for top quality wide attackers is poor unless we are talking about paying 80m+ and large wages.
June 10, 20251 yr What are our alternatives to this one that could come for a similar price? Don't think we'll go for either Williams (wages) or Leão (price+age).Remember being "linked" to Yildiz at Juventus, or one at similar age is Nusa at Leipzig. @Valerie Any info on Noa Lang? Probably isn't a target or even good enough (also "too old"), but I remember watching him once in a while and thought he could do a job in the PL.

June 10, 20251 yr Another player we had a free run at because no other club wanted them and we've failed. Gittens and Maignan.Nice of the club to drop all the new signing announcements today with the negative PR about them once again being incompetent.
June 10, 20251 yr Hard to get excited over him because I know next to nothing of him. Young player who has featured for Dortmund. 32 games 8 goals 4 assists. Transfermarkt values him at 50m Euros.

Let’s face it these aren’t outstanding players just good ones that we suddenly can’t afford. Other options the likes of Mbeumo, Gordon, or Mitoma! But we could have the same wage problem.

Not sure it is really "TV" for others either so I think it is the best. I am tempted to answer but it leads to nowhere. Our general view is so much apart. And I very much understand your logic. Simple technical logic spiced with a handful of negativity/or reality as you would put it. I appreciate it but it is not how I want to see things especially to something I consider very dear to me.I also need to stop combatting people here. If we'd know in real life you'd see I am nothing like that. This text based world sometimes gets to me. Sorry about that. I try not to disrespect anyone. I respect people here very much even though we really don't know each other. Anyway, Gittens deal looks close again. Dortmund have countered.
June 10, 20251 yr Sounds like Dortmund are applying that CWC tax.I mean given what we did with Enzo, Caicedo and Lavia why wouldn't they? Why wouldn't Frankfurt hold out for 100mill on Ekitike? Will take time and some deals not happening for the other club to take us seriously in negotiations. That includes not paying stupid money for kids who have done naff all.

Dont over spend again. On the Maignan deal don’t stick to your guns pay what is necessary to get the deal done. The directors don’t know what they’re doing.Positivity not allowed.

June 10, 20251 yr So Man City seem to have been able to sign Cherki (who is probably a better player than Gittens) for a reasonable fee, without being held to ransom or paying any "CWC Tax". Hmmm ...
June 10, 20251 yr The SDs clearly grew up playing championship/football manager. 42M rejected - go to 43M.We’ve got Dortmund right where we want them!

I think that the assumption is that we're out there wheeling and dealing our moneyball deals, Billy Beane style, when it may well be that as an administrative organisation were just painfully slow and incompetent. I still remember the Ziyech debacle. Cringing.

No doubt he's a talented winger, though. BTW he's currently linked with Napoli, Marseille and Fenerbahçe.He doesn't seem to be the sharpest tool in the box. He doesn't know when to stay away from social media and he has a fondness for offensive songs. A friend for little Enzo 😉He turns 26 this month, so probably not on Tweedledee and Tweedledum's wish list.

Half a dozen mediocre performances in the PL could make him worth an extra few million when we try and flog him to a club in Germany or Italy. Edited June 10, 20251 yr by Snedger

If wage bill reflected ticket prices I could understand.Transfer fee, salary, reputations mean nothing to me. I only care about what they do in a Chelsea shirt nothing else and getting the best possible 11 out playing good football and competing for trophies.
